Based upon the XS1100G Standard, Yamaha This touring package was manufacttured by Pacifico for Yamaha. This 2nd generation Touring Package was sold by dealers as an option in '80 for the XS1100G Std. The '81 was named the XS1100H Venture. Bike was only sold with thispackage, not an option. While this bike doesn't have the V4 engine introduced in the new Venture in 1983, it is nonetheless considered by many to be the first real touring package introduced by Yamaha.

Yamaha's entry into the full-dress luxury touring market was the first motorcycle to be conceived from the beginning for the touring crowd. Rather than just adding a fairing to an existing machine, Yamaha engineers designed a total package. They succeeded very well. The Venture was extremely smooth and quiet, and was very comfortable. Yamaha claimed the seat was orthopedically designed for maximum comfort. The machine was also adjustable... the bars could be moved, the passenger pegs had three positions etc. This was a supreme attempt by Yamaha to oust the Goldwings from their perch as the most popular touring machine. This was the beginning of this great bike that so many of us have come to love and respect. Many Venture riders still maintain that the original 1200 Venture was the best handling of the line.
There were only minor changes from 1983-1985

- Present RSTD Colors The earlier model 1200cc
Venture was very well received, but still struggling in the marketplace
against the Goldwing. For 1986, Yamaha made some changes. Capacity was
increased to 1300cc for more power, luggage capacity was increased by
50%, it was fitted with electronically controlled anti-dive forks, and
passenger accommodations were enhanced. Despite all the engine
improvements and extra power, the new Royale could still pull 45mpg.
Changes were kept to a minimum from 1986 until the end of the production
run in 1993.
Here are the
specifications that I have gathered on the '86-'93 at this time.

Venture produced between the years 1994 and 1998 though I have seen some
Ventures sold as 1994 models in Europe. These were basically left
over 1993 models. The great V4 engine though continued to be used
in a souped up version in the Yamaha VMax and a much detuned version in
the Yamaha Royal Star. Why was the Venture discontinued?
It's anybodies guess but it is generally accepted that Yamaha simply
lost most of the market to the ever evolving Honda Goldwing. Many
riders feel that Yamaha's lack of advertising their great tourer had as
much as anything else to do with that. 83-85

Royal Star Tour Deluxe With the new Royal Star Tour Deluxe,
Yamaha has got the best of both worlds with this new model, the cruising
world and the touring world. All combined in one machine; they call it a
“Cruiser Touring,” possibly one of the fastest growing segments in
the market today. And believe me, with its quick release touring
windshield and passenger backrest that doesn’t require any of tools
(with the help of hidden latches), you can literally, in a matter of
seconds, remove it or install it, and go from cruising to tour mode --
just like that! Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the new bagger you can
undress. 83-85
