Stopped by a Yamaha Dealer in my travels today to pick up some Rear Diff (Shaft Drive Gear Oil). I have been putting Yamalube SAE 80W90 part # ACC-11000-65-05 in it every year when I change it per dealers instructions. They didn't have ACC-11000-65-05 and gave me ACC-Shaft-LU-00 (80W90) instead saying it was the same. Has anyone else run into this? I want to put the Yamalube in until warranty is over. I was going to phone another dealer tomorrow and get another opinion and be sure. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience on this they would like to share. Thanks JR

so we went for a ride saturday down to jasper indiana to check out obermyer yamaha and came away impressed. talked to the owner about a valve adjustment this fall and price seemed reasonable to me, evem mentioned a loaner bike since were 130 miles away, won't be a venture but something for the day while they work on the bike. he mentioned a fuel additive yamalube ring free additive, only 1 oz. for every 10 gals so i said why not, just wondering if anyone has tried it and what they thought. just filled tank and added a bit so we'll see. If your in jasper checkout obermyer, yamaha only so they know what there doing.

Picked up the OEM luggage rack today. Still planning on a top box with a wompus rack in the spring but want to have it painted to match... which will cost $$$. So in the mean time need to be able to strap the old rally back on the back. Now just need to go pick up the right loc-tite. Also found the gallon jug of yamalube for 16 bucks at the dealer so looks like that is what she is getting before the trip to Orlando later this week.

My brothers father-n-law (Bill) has an 07 Midnight TD. He called me and stated that his bike was getting hot. Very hot on his legs, almost unbearable. Since then he spoke to a Yamaha mechanic about what he had. The mechanic asked if he made any changes recently. Bill informed him that he switched his oil from Yamalube to Rotella T 15-40. The mechanic said that, the oil was his problem. Today he changed the oil back to Yamalube and said that it is no longer running hot. So basically he states that the heat was coming from the lower end of the engine. I know many folks on this forum use oil other than Yamalube, so have anybody had this experience before? I am running Rotella in my 07 TD, and have not noticed any issues.

Just changed the oil in the 87 Venture and went for a short ride of about 20 miles. I used Yamalube 4 Stroke 15-40. Got out the driveway sped up and noticed a slight clutch slip in 4th gear. By the time I got back to the house it would barely pull up the smallest hill. The dealer assured me this was the "recommended oil" from Yamaha. Any body had problems like this and these wet clutches? You would think that if it were a Yamaha product it would work. There is no engineers stamp on the back just a stamp that says MA and a circle around it. I know this has been a huge topic here on which oil to use but I figured going with brand specific oil with Yamaha's name on it would be good. What should I do? Thanks!

what a miserable job. As if getting the covers out is not bad enough, trying to but them back in and aim for the gaskets can make a grown man cry. Combine that with some tremendous back pain when bending over and it takes you most of the day. Good news is that the engine is perfectly clean inside after 70k miles of Yamalube 20W40 and all valve gaps are well within specifications. Well, I ran myself out of steam, going to bed early. Can't wait to get up to Ft Collins. Klaus
