I need information as to how our triked '89 Venture Royale is going to react at mountain pass elevations exceeding 9000 ft. I know I will have some loss of power. Am I going to have to worry about overheating or burning a piston if I pay attention and take it easy?

My wife wants to take a ride this summer that covers about 1000 miles. I think it's a great idea but worry about one thing. I'm riding a 1983 classic that not one motorcycle mechanic wants to touch at a dealership, and parts are impossible to come by outside of a motorcycle wreckers or ebay. I already have trust issues with the bike after it blew out the TCI 2 years ago on a 200 mile ride and I am hesitant to trust her to take me 1000 miles without troubles. It's mostly the age, the fact that there are almost no real Motorcycle mechanics at dealerships anymore and the no parts thing. I calculated the worst case and a flatbed tow back home from 500 miles away is $2800.00! Am I being a worry wart? or are my concerns for a long ride justified?

Coldest Canadian riding across Canada in 19 days? Crazy and cold? No worry that the bike overheats. http://coldestcanadian.ca/19-days-bone-chillin-riding

I have started hearing a clicking when I depress the clutch handle on my 07 trike. Also I heard it when I let off the gas when at a slow speed. It will just click once or twice. Is this anything to worry about. It sounds like it comes from the second chrome cover on left side of motor when sitting on the bike.

I don't post a lot but I think some of my friends will be glad to know that I'm in Europe. I have been in Copenhagen and Budapest for the last week and will stay in Levice, Slovakia for the rest of the month. I will probably take a short trip to the U.K. and visit our office in Germany while I'm here. Don't worry about Patricia, L.A. Pryor said he was on the job. Hmmmmm. Really missing some of the best riding weather in the states, but need a job to do the riding. Already looking forward to the 4th of July. Any good meet & eats planned for then? Jim

So I just got done doing this upgrade, haven't had a chance to take the bike out and test it, did start it in the garage and let the clutch work pulling me back and forth. As a worry wort, does anybody know what parts I should now have left over? Looks like I have 4 parts. A wire, the half friction plate, the old clutch spring and two other thin metal disks.

latest update on my trailer and a few questions. got my harbor freight trailer with 12" wheels. narrowed the frame to 18 1/2", and shortened it 3 1/2". i welded the frame together instead of bolting. the frame is at the sandblaster. i bought a neat plastic locking box at lowes and my cooler will go on the front. going to take one leaf out of the springs, and mount the axle on top of the springs to lower it. it should work out great and will look factory made. just ordered a hitch for my v-star 1300. so far i think the whole job less hitch will be about $350.00. now the questions, since i have never pulled a trailer. do i need safety chains? any worry pulling in the rain? will the hitch coupler tilt enough so it won't bind on the side stand or in the curves? what air pressure should i run in the 480 12 tires? any other conditions that i have to worry about. pics will follow when i get it done. bill

Was putting the red light bar on my bike and the wife thought this would be a good idea. The more I looked at it the more I liked it. shouldn't have to worry about being seen now! Dale

Hello everyone: I need to buy tires and I think that I would like to try the dunlop elite 3. I went to the dunlop site and they recommended 150/80-16 for the front, And MV85B15 for the rear. But so far all I can find is 150/80H-16 for the front, And MV85HB15 or MV85H15 for the rear. Can anyone tell me the difference between the HB or the H, Or do I even need to worry about it. I get brain dead sometimes and over think things sorry if it sounds like a dumb question.

It is that time of year again. January is right around the corner, thought it would be fun to hear some new year's resolutions. We could look back in a few months to see who kept them and who lost them. Mine will be fairly easy; To ride more and eat less, To laugh more and worry less, To be more thankful for what I have and less worried about what I don't. Now let's hear yours!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my venture family!!!!

I have the Star lightbar on the front, and the other day I noticed the headlight has a little wiggle where the light bar attaches to the headlight, almost like the bushing was worn or missing. I popped the headlight out and checked the screw, and the bushing, everything seemed ok. was wondering if anyone else noticed this, and if maybe a new bushing would fix it, or something not to worry about. I work 3rd shift, and I haven't noticed any prolems with the light bouncing around at night or anything. Just an annoying thing, knowing it is there thanks Craig:crying:

I installed risers now this....
Maritimer posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
After installing risers, I how fine my throttle cables are too short when I turn my handlebar hard right. Not bad on a straight run or turning left but tight enough to cause concerns on the right. I would like to re-route the cables in a more direct path but not sure how to go about disconnecting from the throttle grip. I can only see 1 screw...is that it? Is there anything I should worry about falling when I take the grip apart? Looks like I will need to move the master cylindre fluid and brake handle...am I right in my assumption? Anything I might need to know before I tackle this, please feel free to let me know... Thanks
