  1. Let's see if this thread takes off. I will start with a word, and the following poster comes up with a word that is associated with it. For example, if I say the word "Lincoln" the next poster may say "President" or maybe even "Continental". I belong to another board where this thread has gone for over 400 pages before problems had to lock the thread. They started another and it is going like crazy. Its fun to see what people come up with. I'll start a few to get it going.
  2. Some of you who have been around since the early days will remember Dan Lowery. Dan was one of the original officers when I started the "Venturers" site. I honestly don't remember if he ever joined this site or not but he and I did remain friends over the years. We rode together a couple of times when I lived in Dallas. I got word today that Dan passed away on January 9th which also happened to be his birthday. Dan was a good man and will be missed by those who knew him. Please say a prayer for his family and friends.
  3. Merry Christmas to all! Let us not forget those who are less fortunate than yourselves. Let us remember the service men and women that protect us and our freedoms. Remember the police fireman and first responders those that have to work on these holidays so that we can enjoy the time with our families. Remember our VenturRider members that may not be feeling very good and the sick. We have members out there that could use a little help, some prayers and maybe just a friendly kind word from one or more of us. Reach out and pay it forward. It is so much better than getting a gift for yourself, at least I think so. Remember your family and remember your friends. Life is great, God is good and friends are friends. May you all have a happy and safe Christmas and a great new year. Bubber
  4. I cannot use the smiling faces a bottom of page if I click on one instead of it showing on threat it wrights the word . Can anyone help . fishin:(like this ) Barry:
  5. Any word from Pakidaho, Ride2much, NRXtreme or Idaho Ron concerning the fire in Idaho?
  6. I put a deposit on a new 2010 demo bike some exec at victory had today so I'm selling my venture or going to trade her. I have loved this bike since I first seen it and it's either a love it or hate it bike. I have yet to talk to one person who has one that has a bad word to say about them. I still plan on getting on here when I can since I'm busy now that I have custody of the kids and getting them straightened out! But it's getting better!
  7. The video of the dissappearing dots example has been posted twice and I can not find it. I have looked at about the last 25 pages of watering hole and in the safty and video threads and still cannot find it. Not sure the best word or phrase to search. RandyA Just found it. http://www.msf-usa.org/motion.html
  8. Amazing we all learned English! I think a retired English teacher was bored. THIS IS GREAT! Read all the way to the end. This took a lot of work to put together! You think English is easy?? 1) The bandage was wound around the wound. 2) The farm was used to produce produce. 3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse. 4) We must polish the Polish furniture. 5) He could lead if he would get the lead out. 6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. 7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. 8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum. 9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. 10) I did not object to the object. 11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid. 12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row. 13) They were too close to the door to close it. 14) The buck does funny things when the does are present. 15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line. 16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow. 17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail. 18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear. 19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests. 20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend? Let's face it, English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France . Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down; you fill in a form by filling it out; an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick' ? You lovers of the English language might enjoy this: There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP' It's easy to understand UP meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house, and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special. A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearingUP. When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP. One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so........it is time to shut UP! Now it's UP to you to decide what to do with this email.
  9. Last few times I've cruised through the chat room, nobody was home. So I thought I'd put out the word this time.........
  10. Well my hand not the only thing keeping me from riding, we going to get some snow here in Ga. tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oops, I said the S... word.................
  11. This was sent to me by a friend and wanted to share it with you all. Larry Recently, a gentleman from Seattle created a gesture which could be used and has started a movement to get the word out. Please take just a moment to watch "The Gratitude Campaign" and forward it to your friends! THEN START USING THE SIGN. http://www.gratitudecampaign.org/index.php?c=pages&m=watch_short_video
  12. THINGS TO THINK ABOUT ! 1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up. 2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children. 3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young. 4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said. 5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own . 6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in. [ATTACH]60168[/ATTACH] ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day AND FINALLY: IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE: 'TAKE TWO ASPIRIN' AND 'KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN'! Ok, now for a more serious side to this. I may be asking a stupid question, but are there laws to prevent my boy from riding with me at 6 yr old ? He is big enough to hold on and all. Just thinking about a very short ride around home sometime. He has asked about riding a couple times. I am thinking that he is not allowed until he has reached 16 yr old or so. That is what I told him last time he was interested. Fuzzy
  13. You have a better chance of getting it right if you read slowly. The following was developed as a mental age assessment by the School of Psychiatry at Harvard University . Take your time and see if you can read each line aloud without a mistake. The average person over 40 years of age cannot do it! 1. This is this cat. 2. This is is cat. 3. This is how cat. 4. This is to cat. 5. This is keep cat. 6. This is an cat. 7. This is old cat. 8. This is fart cat. 9. This is busy cat. 10. This is for cat. 11. This is forty cat. 12. This is seconds cat. Now go back and read the third word in each line from the top down.
  14. I have read several threads on here and elsewhere about needing a helmet to fit an egghead/roundhead/etc. Ran across this page that lists the ovality (don't really know if that's a word) of various helmet brands and types. http://tinyurl.com/yfy6log RR

  16. and others if they are nosy. I've been asked to let the word out,,,,, so here it is: WORD. I hope I spelled that right. Now if you think you know what this is all about, you may use this thread to inform the rest of us.
  17. Redneck word of the day : "OBAMA" . . . . I BOUGHT ME A CASE OF BEER AND DRANK IT OBAMA SELF:rotf:
  18. This two-letter word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is 'UP.' It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv], [prep], [adj], [n] or [v]. Did that one crack you UP? Don't screw UP. Send this on to everyone you look UP in your address book..or not...it's UP to you. Now I'll shut UP
  19. Rick, I expected alot when I sent you my seats because of all that I've read on here. I've got to say that you more than met the expectations. I sat on it and was really surprised at how good the fit was. I can't wait to try it out on the way up to Ohio. Job well done....... Any of you that are unsure of this mod....take my word for it, that was money well spent.
  20. I know what the manual says about this. Stand bike upright (level), check that oil is halfway covering sight glass. I know thats not word for word. My question is how do you make this a one person operation? Right now I have to have one person level the bike while the other gets down to the level of the sight glass. Any other way?
  21. .........Honest.........
  22. Question for you computer experts. When I go to a web site for an association I belong to and try to open a document the typical box opens. The options are "Save this file" and "Open using MS Word". Mine has always said Open with MS Word but now says open with "Windows Shell Common DII" or it could be D11. Any ideas what this may be? I do have MS Word on the laptop. EDIT: I saved the document I needed to My Documents and it went to a File Maker Pro file which is a program we use for this same association and a program I recently did some upgrades on. Any idea how to get this back to MS Word?
  23. It's SNOWING:banana: Here in Texas, we ain't used to this. Can't wait till sunup and see it in the light. I wish I could see this more often. Sorry I said the 4 letter word, but to me, I LOVE IT!!!! Oh boy I get to put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive for a change.:clap2::snow2:
  24. I returned home yesterday after a 3 day trip, when my wife turned on the desk top PC and was working on a word Doc. everything was acting very slow, as in she would type a word, and get a hour glass for a few seconds before the word she typed would show up...I had her re-boot the PC, then we got an error message about the HD, I do not remember what it said as I can not get it to come up again. The pc will start to load, up to the point of the Windows XP start up screen...thats as far as it will go, then it will cycle again, returning to the same page... I am thinking of buying a new HD and give that a try Vs. buying a whole new PC. We have had a few crashes with this one over the last 2 years.. any suggestions/tips would be great. Thanks, Kreg
  25. Curious if it was possible to add a feature to the Main text area similar to the newer versions of Microsoft and Lotus Notes. When you type a word incorrectly you get a red squigle under the word. If you right click the word there is suggestions for the correct spelling. Brad
