I am planning a 'sickle trip for next summer. We plan to ride from Illinois to Niagara area then to Adirondacks, Vermont, Quebec, Maine, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, etc. and back home. About 3500 miles. We plan to camp every night except if it is raining or very cold, then Mom and Pop motels are preferred. I have obtained state highway maps from all the states we will be riding through except for New York. I've spent considerable time online trying to get an official state highway map from New York, but the links to "obtain a state highway map" return a 404 error. I sent away to the "I Love New York, Division of Tourism" in Albany via snail mail, but the letter returned as "not deliverable as addressed" even though that address was on their website. Researching the New York governmental website was a waste of time; kept referring me to same dead link. Registered with the I Love Yew York website and requested travel information, thinking that New York, like all the other states I had requested tourism information, would send along a state highway map, but no. I received a fifty page glossy travel guide, with nary a map. So my question/favor to those New York residents: would you obtain a New York state highway/road map and mail it to me? Does NY offer free road maps at their border Welcome Centers? Does New York have Welcome Centers? Thanks.

The time is getting closer where our block of booked rooms at the New Grand hotel will be gone, so if youre thinking of attending please call the New Grand and book your room making sure that you tell them that your with the Venture group. Also got to the website at www.kruisnthekootenays.ca and register so that we know youre coming so we can plan things like meals. Thanks, Brian, Rick and Nina

If anyone needs new mufflers for their G1 Venture, (at least I think these are for a G1), they should try Niche Cycle. According to their website it looks like they still have MAC turn downs in stock. I was under the impression that there wasnt any mufflers being made any longer for the G1 bikes so this might be a good opportunity if your pipes are getting worn. I dont know anything about this company, I just looked at the website, so check them out before ordering, and make sure that they are for the G1 bike, not the G2. http://www.nichecycle.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=004-4315&type=0&eq=&desc=Yamaha-Venture-Turn-Down-Mufflers Brian

Why do I get duplicate new post notices emailed to me every once in a while?? Sometimes there's a bunch and sometimes only a couple, and then nothing for sometimes months. I don't think it's my ISP, or Website host, as it only happens with the new post notices??? It doesn't cause any issues... just wondering..

happy holiday season to everyone. i,ve been wanting to send some small token of thanks to our troops overseas. i dont personally know anyone so i was looking at ways to do it when i found this website, anysoldier.com. after looking it over it seemed pretty legit and well meaning. they have lists of real deployed servicemen/women who are the contacts to 5 to ??? number of people and can distribute the packages. you can chose who to contact based on service branch, area of deployment, unit origin or whoever you want. the package is shipped by you directly overseas so it seems on the up and uo. i was wondering if anybody has done this or knew anything good/bad about this website before i commit ???? thanks al:fingers-crossed-emo

A buddy of mine just got a Vulcan Nomad and it came with Air Lite Lower Engine Guards. Looks like a great idea but according to their website they don't make them for my RSTC. Here is their website: http://airlite.ca/index.php So is there a company that makes them for my bike or would I need to have something custom made? Its getting cold and these make sense to me! Thanks!

Hi Guys i see alot of people go for the mobil 1 semi or fully synthetic oil etc etc, and as ive only just bought my venture ive looked on the net to see what people recommend, as im in the uk i cant get some of the American oils easily! But i was looking at a UK V-Max Specialist website today and they strongly recommend 20/50 mineral oil only . As they say the synthetic runs hotter and causes the clutch and starter clutch to slip ??? I know its a V-Max website but is the engine that different ? Cheers Edge

Hi folks, I just wanted to once again thank all of you who so willing helped me in the restoration and rebuild of my 1983 Venture Royale. It is just about complete except for 2 niggling problems; the oil and brake icons on the monitor show up intermittently even though neither is at fault and E4 errors on the air control readout. And it looks like I have found the answer to both of those on the website. I will be fixing those this week. I have included a pix of the finished project of which I am quite proud. It runs well and I have enjoyed several rides. However it looks like that may be coming to an end. During this past Winter I have developed a chronic case of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo). It usually starts as a dizziness and can get really bad, I wound up in the ER twice this year. Doc says older folks are more prone to get this (THAT'S ME!). So for safety's sake I”ll be putting both of my 2 wheelers up for sale (I also have a 2000 500cc Kawasaki Vulcan). Since I can't give up riding, I'm going to be looking for a used trike or frike. Three wheels will provide more stability and should give me ample time to react if I start getting dizzy. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. So if you know of anyone who might be interested in either of my bikes please let me know. And if anyone has a lead on a trike or frike also let me know. And again thanks to all you great helpers and this website, I couldn't have done it without you. Frank

I've been trying to get on Craigslist for a while today and I'm having no luck. Can't get on from my bookmark, a direct address, or any kind of link from this site or others. All my other bookmarks and addresses are working but anything to do with Craigslist is just a message that it is not available due to not being on Internet, website problems, etc, etc. Weird. Is it just me or anybody else having problems? Mike

Ive always been fascinated by these flyers that can fly 5 feet off the ground spraying crops. These guys fly under power lines and in nasty weather and take their lives in their hands. There is a new series that was shot here in Saskatchewan about the cropdusters called Dust UP and I find it pretty interesting. I thought some of you guys might like to see it too, the episodes of Dust UP are here on the History Channels Website. I hope they dont have the website blocked to people outside Canada, it seems to be happening more and more with webcasts. http://www.history.ca/video/default.aspx Enjoy!!!

Over the last two days, I decided to jump in to the "project" before the pretty weather arrived so a few thoughts to share..... Dunlop Elite 3 tires from SportTour in Cincinnati for $117 and $119 seems to be a pretty decent price. They also have a nice website with lots of good things at rather decent prices. No real problems changing then at all and the rear needed no weight to balance at all. While I was in to it, and since I had the Super Brace and some new Progressive for springs, it was only logical to do that at the same time, so I jumped in. The archives on this website were absolutely critical in being able to complete this task with little to no difficulties. To all those who have shared their experiences, I offer a humble and heartfelt "Thank You" Here are a couple of things I learned while doing this project....... - a 5/16 hitch pin clip works just fine in the rear axle nut( had one in the parts drawer) - AutoZone has a set of hex bits in 12, 14, and 17 mm for $9.95 that will be a great addition to anyones tool box. They are 1/2 inch drive and the 17 is perfect for the forks. Anti seize on the threads helps them go back in very nicely. - on the recommendation of a racer friend, I used Mobll 1 full synthetic in the forks. We'll have to see how that works out. - a 3/8 inch impact works nicely for helping remove all kinds of bolts and nuts that have never been touched. The hammering action helps break up corrosion on threads without the fear of breaking things. It doesn't take a high setting at all to move things. After I got everything back together, I just had to go out for a bit to scrub then new tires in a bit. Even with being quite cautious to no get too excited with the new tires, I was astounded with the difference in the feel of the bike. The little voice in the back of my head kept saying "where are those guys on the Ninjas?" but I did my level best to ignore him. Weather or not, I am riding this fabulous machine a bunch this year, starting tomorrow.....
