Yesterday when we got up it was about 10 below zero here. It is warmer today...actually zero right now and is supposed to climb to a balmy 12 degrees F today. Actually staying fairly warm on the sleds but took the time yesterday to drive into Hayward and picked up a couple of facemasks. Also picked up a couple of very nice RibEyes. It's a tough life here but somebody has to do it.

I've found discussions here about WHAT thermometer to buy. This is different: I'd like to know WHERE to mount it. The what can follow then. My question stems from my buddy and his farkled BMW. It has a pitot tube that samples air as the bike moves. The thermometer is untrustworthy until the bike is moving. The reason being, says he, that an exposed thermometer is influenced by sunlight warming and engine temperature warming. So, where should I put a thermometer? I have an RSTD, and thus I don't have a fairing to hide it in. On the other hand, that gives me a nice, quasi-hidden spot atop the forks but below the speed-o. It is shaded there, sometimes. So, two questions, really. Maybe three... A) Where is the ideal place to sample air from? B) Where is the best, reasonable place for a thermometer on an RSTD? 3) Where is the best, reasonable place for a thermometer on an RSV? I guess the final question should be answered first: does it really matter? Dave

Since we are due 2 feet of snow over the next day and a half with 30-40 mph winds I guess we won't get the bike out for a few more days. Where is this global warming I keep hearing about?

Did my fist ride with the warming gear I purchased from Cozy Winters. The set I picked up consists of a jacket and pants liner, gloves and socks. I also bought the dual troller and the cigarette plug adapter. The bike I hooked all this stuff up to is an 86 VR. Great stuff. Rode in 49 degree weather and started to sweat. Turned it way, way down. Can't wait to see if it keeps me warm when the temp is in the lower 30s. Great investment.

So, 3 hours of work, pulling out the intake manifold, and replaceing. Oh well, runs good now. OH, It did NOT RAIN, in Seattle today !!! Sunshine, and about 65 deg F. FINALLY!! Some hint of Global Warming !!! Hmmm,,, might go rideing tomorrow.
