It was more then a year ago that a guy drove 12 hours from Canada, north of Michigan to pick up my 2000 1100 Vstar. He was getting back into biking and wanted to turn my bike into a Trike and I had just bought my Venture. Anyway, long story but just the other day he sent me the pics of the finished product. Ive never seen anything like it. No rear wheel, there's a car axle under there somewhere. thought it was interesting here it is on my last ride with it (cabot trail) http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SE6Vm-GZc7I/AAAAAAAAAYQ/r1Yrp2TEUrs/s640/Nova%20Scotia%20June%2008%20260.jpg and here it it now: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/TEOutXWZcSI/AAAAAAAAD2I/vxCuxDP86zY/s640/Photos%202009-2010%20204.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/TEOusvT2JRI/AAAAAAAAD2A/uxyBbJKjvR8/s640/Photos%202009-2010%20191.jpg

taller passenger backrest

Is there one available for my 2005 RSTD? Yamaha doesn't show one, didn't know if one for a Vstar or Roadstar might work? -
I returned to riding after 40 years absence and bought an '04 VStar 1100 with 1,500 actual miles. Starts and runs fine except for a miss at very light load --- almost coasting. I've run 3 tanks with Seafoam and it's a little worse. I started out running mid-grade gas and then switched to low grade 78 octane when advised by a friend. Local dealer does not have a great reputation for repairs --- at least by some opinions. I am moderately good at mechanics and have good tools but no experience with motorcycles. Don't mind doing it myself and can follow instructions but they need to be in plain/idiot language. It looks like some may have replied to my earlier posts --- I could not find them --- I may know less about these "thread things" then about my bike. THANKS FOR YOU HELP & PATIENCE. Tompa3

A while back I wanted to switch from the sealed beam to halogen lights for my passing lamps. The solution I chose was the $20 set of Adjure lenses, actually 2 sets since I cracked the first one. Later the I cracked another and decided it was time to for a better upgrade. I chose to order the Vstar halogen lamps and installed them tonight. Wow, what an improvement over the Adjure. The were bright when I first installed them but after installing the first Vstar lamp and comparing them it was clear that the Adjures and yellowed or fogged because it was very dim when compared to the Vstar. If you are running the Adjure lamps you might check them. Dennis

I have ridden Vstar 1100's the last several years and I noticed that I could ride much further with the driver backrest then I could without. I can only make a couple hundred miles on the Vstar before my lower back says enough. I plan on riding some three day weekends and try to meet a few of you wonderful people out there on my 84 1st gen. It seems pretty comfy but I have not ridden far yet. Would it be worthwhile to pickup a backrest if one comes available or in your experience, does the stock seat bode well?

I'm sorry if this is a old subject but after a lot of looking around on the site I've not seen a thing about Back Braces, I'm sure I'm not the only rider out there that has a lower back ache after a few hours in the saddle?? I have a VStar 1100 Silverado that I put a Ortho Gell Pad in the seat and it did help a little but still after a few hours and a couple of days later my lower back ached terrible! I purchaced a 03 RSV a few months ago and it is a lot more comfortable than the VStar!! I've been looking and sent Rick Butler a personal message asking about making my present seat more comfortable, I've also been checking out the lower back braces, the KoolBak Motorcycle brace has some pretty good reviews. I'm sure that some of you guys/gals have a suggestion or opinion?? I had a 86 Venture about 20 years ago and I didn't seem to have the problem then, but, I'm 20 years older!!:shock3:thanks in advance for any ideas.. Larry M

Today I took a 415 mile solo run from my home (Long Island) to Mt Greylock (highest peak in Ma). This was my first "off Island" run since picking up the Venture a few months ago. I dont get too many of these opps so im all sorts of jacked up to report on it! Amazing, just amazing. I took plenty of long runs over many years on my 1100 Vstar but this run was so much better. The Venture made the difference. It was smooth, quiet and powerful every time I tested it. Power, Power and more Power. I wouldn't have imagined tossing a monster like this around on the twisties but it works!; not like my lighter Vstar but it still gives a thrill. Never felt like I was going to lose it and the brakes stop it and my carcass with ease. I could ride in that stock seat forever (first time I didnt need to drop half a grand on a Corbin) and with the Kuryakyn pegs out there I had many riding positions to test. Again, just amazing. I only wish I had more opportunity to get it on the open roads. (after 20 years of riding on Long Island, Ive seen it all!) My aftermarket electronics worked flawlessly. Satellite radio kept me entertained. I downloaded a Garmin map file from Sundaymornignrides.com, made a few mods and it worked perfectly! (Garmin 2720, they are cheap and work great!) Here's a couple of pics from the run. More on the link below. Ive gotten plently of tips here and thank everyone. Great site. Im on here multiple times per day. Long Island members need to get together some day! http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6Z1LmziI/AAAAAAAAC1c/tH30-y1NhLU/s800/P8010625.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6M0g1mcI/AAAAAAAACzw/B1OWgDcTeeE/s800/P8010598.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6ue99zyI/AAAAAAAAC4k/3Jr2erseitM/s800/P8010672.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6O8SH4GI/AAAAAAAAC0A/UDTaYil4_b0/s800/P8010602.JPG http://picasaweb.google.com/ablumny/LongIslandMtGreylockRun#

Happy to have found the site. Here's my story: I have ridden VStars for years. I am looking to trade up from my 00 1100 Vstar to a Venture. I have my eyes on an 03 Midnight Venture locally. 4600 miles, asking ~$10K. Questions I hope to figure out: - That appears to be a good price, yes? - Ride height adjustable? Major increase from my Vstar! - Are there any bizarre factory design issues to be aware of? - for example, the 1100 Vstar needed the exhaust and floor boards removed to do a simple oil change unless you bought an aftermarket kit. Anything weird about these bikes like that? - Anything I should look for on thie used bike, issues unique to this bike? - I cant seem to locate a site for standard specs for this year/model. Anywhere? Thanks in advance. I;m an active participant on the Vstar forums, I hope to move up to the Venture and get busy here!

Hi Folks, I have a real problem. My husband is a Harley guy. He never wanted me to buy my VStar from the beginning. Now because he hangs out with his Harley friends he wants me to get rid of my VStar which I really love. He wants me to get a Sportster, which I really do not care for. I do not think this is fair to me, when I love my VStar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. highwaypeg:crying:

OK, I've spent an hour looking for the dang oil filter on JoDees bike. Can anybody help me on this one? It's a 650 Vstar Classic 2006. If you have a drawing via manual it would be MUCH appreciated. God Bless. Mike

I check my oil about once a week when I am just riding around locally and daily when I'm on a long trip. I've never had to add oil on either of my RSVs or my Vstar 1100. It never moves off the mark. I was just wondering if anyone ever has to add oil between oil changes? DT

Anyone have any experience with installing this thing? What would be a good "switchable" point to hook up the power. I should turn on and off with a turn of the key so as not to drain the battery if its left on.

Does anyone know where I can get a heal/toe shifter for Marilyn's 1100 custom vstar? It's an 02....I have checked everywhere and cant find one! Oh,ya...and if anyone is parting or selling a vstar that has the oil relocation kit and wants to sell that item let me know! New ones are getting pretty steep!

I just bought my RSTD last wednesday and I really enjoy it. Had an 1100 Vstar for 9 years had to upgrade. Anyway was wondering if anyone knows if they make a chrome cover for the black plastic section around the lock on the saddlebags. Also if any of you know someone that has an 1100 Vstar Custom, I removed all my accessories before trading in and am looking to sale. It was a '99 model.
