Test rode a Vision today and it was a smooth ride, however I think the bike I rode was defective it clunked really bad when you changed gears and had no power on acceleration. The handle bars seemed way to high does anyone know if they are adjustable?

Having motorcycle withdrawals bad, started passing a 6MM kidney stone 3 weeks ago and still working at it and since then I have had a bad kidney infection, a allergic reaction to the antibiotics for the infection and now double vision doc says its a side effect of the meds for the nausea. Doc will not break it up because it is not blocking me up I don't think he has ever had a kidney stone or maybe I am just being a big baby. I can deal with the pain and the nausea but the double vision has me concerned so I am wondering if anyone else has had double vision due to a medication or should I get a third opinion? Thanks for letting me rant.

My eye surgeon has decided he wants to do another surgery tomorrow. This time, due to more blood vessel problems, he wants to take the oil back out and fix the problem vessels and the do the air bubble thing again. At present I have virtually no usable vision out of my right eye and have found if I wear my eye patch, it seems to help with my headaches. I don't know if this will help my vision any, but we will see(no pun intended). RandyA

OK, I'll admit it I'm guilty of this one big time. On a whim I went to the eye doctor for the first time in 25 years. At my last visit the doc asked me why I was there. I told him that I felt my eyesight was deteriorating because I had to get closer to highway signs before I could read them than what it used to be. so he tested my eyes and said that I have perfect 20-20 vision. Fast forward 25 years. I went to the eye doc cuz the company I work for just added eye care insurance. After the eye exam the doc ordered me a nice pair of trifocals. so I went from better than 20-20 to darn near blind without even noticing it. In doing some experimenting with these new glasses I would sit a a stop sign and see a bike coming, lift up the glasses and the bike was gone, just a kind of bright spot from the headlight. A Gold Wing or full dress Harley was completely invisible to me at 2 city blocks away, and just starting get noticeable at 1 city block. Now with my glasses I can see a bike more than a mile away. I really thought that what I was seeing was just how the world really looked. I was on the verge of going out to buy a new TV cuz I could not read any text on the screen like the scores of a sporting event. I figured the TV was 20 years old and just getting blurry. The moral is, how many other drivers out there have eyes that are as bad or worse than mine and still driving not even realizing that their eyes had gotten so bad over time. It brings new understanding to the "I didn't see the bike coming". What is really scarey is that I just passed the drivers license vision test without the glasses on. So there can be a lot of us blind people out there driving. I even passed the vision test for my pilots license. So dont forget to look up, theres blind people flying those airplanes. This has all been an eye opening experience for me, and really makes me wonder about the person driving that car waiting for me to pass at an intersection.

Last Sunday and today we were in the mid 60's and I put about 140 miles on the bike. It was a mix of roads with some four lane, marked two lane, to unmarked two lane. I even rode some after dark. It is hard to describe what is like, as it is really different. It is like sitting on the bike in front of a big screen with a movie playing that was taken from a motorcycle going down the road. What you loose is the normal three dimensional effect that is so helpful with depth perception and judging speed, especially something coming toward you. The biggest part is just trying to be aware of everything going on around me. My problem is on my right side, so I am constantly scanning for anything that may come into my lane, whether it is a car pulling out, to a car that is beside me that begins to come over, to something like a dog running out. I stopped by Walmart to see if I could find a good convex mirror to mount on the ride side to help in this big blind spot that I have, but did not see anything I liked. I may check at a truck stop and see what is available. At the present time I am not sure of the vision I will end up with in my right eye. Presently, from the center to the left, I have absolutely no vision at all. From the center to the right, I can see some images, mostly a silhouette from light behind the object, but everything is very distorted. To look slightly to the left and see my TV, instead of it being a rectangle, it is kind of "S" shaped from left to right and is close to half the size with what I see with my left eye. At this time my eye is full of oil and at sometime will be drained and I guess we will start the bubble thing like before. I really hope that it will help the vision as I would love to get some peripheral vision back, even if the left half is blind. I don't expect for the left part of that eye to get better as that is where the blood vessels have died according to my doctor. I did get an eye patch at Walmart and with the right eye covered, it was a little easier to see out of the left eye without the distortion. I know this has been difficult for me, but I have REALLY felt thankful for the vision I have in my left eye this Thanksgiving Day. I want to also thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. This VentureRider family is the best. RandyA

Earlier, I posted about a rattle I could not tell if it was the collector or something in the bottom of the engine. I had another collector and finally got it on today and when I cranked it up, no more rattle. So, with it being a beautiful sunny day at about 65 degrees, I just had to go for a little ride. The vision in my right eye is getting a little more clear every day in the area that has filled with fluid. Right now the fluid line is about one third from the bottom of my eye, or since everything is upside down in an eye, about two thirds full. Also, the double vision has gone away as things are now lining up and I am having more binocular vision, therefore having better depth of field. So, I figured if I was real careful and did not put myself in any position where I had to manhandle the bike, I would be OK. I took about a 20 mile ride down through the country and it really did feel good. RandyA

I am thinking about selling the Valkyrie and going with the Kawasaki Voyager or a Victory Vision or Cross Country. Any thoughts?

I gave up on buying a used venture and got a new Victory Vision today. Just got tired of all the bs dealing with sellers who dont want to be straight up . Anyway I got the bike that impressed me the most , and 3 years of payments to go with it. Thanks to everyone on this site for the tips. Please understand Im not in any way kicking on Ventures , its just that for a little more money for new vs. new I think the Vision is the best for me. Now Ive got to go to the roadstar forum and say goodbye to some more great folks.

As some of you may remember, the wife and I took a trip to Niagara Falls last memorial day weekend for our anniversary. Had a great time and met some really nice people. This year is our tenth and I promised her a long time ago that I'd take her to Las Vegas. My treat in this trip is that we're renting a bike instead of a car to go and see the local sights. I just booked a Victory Vision. I rode one a while back for just a few minutes and am looking forward to putting some real miles on one. We want to ride out to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Any suggestions on the area are greatly appreciated.

I test rode a Victory Vision, and a Victory Cross Country today. The stereo was better on both bikes then on my RSV, seat comfort was good on both, a little better on the Vision but lower on the CC. Handle bar bend seemed funny and bothered my wrists. Vision had turbulence around my helmet even with the screen all the way up. And the Cross Country turbulence was terrible. I never had and turbulence around my helmet on the RSV, even when it had the stock windscreen. Vision seemed very heavy both slow and at speed. Surprisingly the CC was much lighter and more nimble, I thought they had the same frame? FI is nice, engine has lots of torque. But overall, not as good as what I have.

I saw a 60 something year old lady come into the park today on a Victory Vision trike. I think I like it better than the two wheel version. I didn't get a picture of it but here's a link to a picture of one. I don't recall seeing a trunk on hers but maybe it's removable. Or it could have been there and I just didn't notice. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2011models/2011-Victory-VisionTrikea.jpg

Video reminded me that spring coming and the unexpected hazards. Great camera work, made me miss ridin'; too bad for this guy on his Vision and why wasn't he wearing his leathers? Oldest rider calls it quits. Title is up for grabs. After years and miles of adventure and misadventures. Primitive camping beside secluded lakes, scenic biways and inciting road rage, across this beautiful nation. I've noticed in the last couple of years, an increase in close calls and near-misses. Poor night vision, slowed reflexes, heaver traffic, more idiots. I had recently modified my 86 VR by adding a Voiger Conversion. I miss 2 wheeling, but it's much easier riding 2up and no hassel when stopped, but it doesn't compensate for bad night vision, slow reflexes, deafness, and senior moments!! I had hoped to retrace some of my travels with my new sweetheart/wife on the bike, but it looks like we'll be in a small motor home. I've given the bike and trailor to my good friend, Cherokee, (he's an old school biker to the bone) and encouraged him to hook up with you guys and gals. This isn't "good bye", just saying I've enjoyed time spent with you and appreciate all the help you've given. Take care and ride safe....... Lobo Hurfiano Orphan Wolf

Well folks, I finally got an opportunity today to really take a good look at the Victory Vision. I was in Toledo, OH and stopped by Honda East in Maumee, OH to see if they had a trunk bag for the RSV. They sell Honda, Yamaha, Victory....I don't remember what else. They didn't have the trunk bag but they did have a new Vision inside and a demo sitting outside. I didn't ask to take it for a ride but I did sit on it and started it up. First impression was the same one I've already had and that was "WOW...this thing is really ugly". Second impression was when I sat on it and I have to say that it felt very comfortable. Ergonomics felts really good, seat felt great, lot's of room. Third....I lifted it off the side stand and thought WOW...this thing is really well balanced. It almost stands up by itself. Apparently a very low center of gravity and I'm thinking that it would handle very well. Fourth...saddle bags look HUGE until you open them. What a disappointment though when you do open them. About the size of a decent sized automobile glove compartment. I don't know WHAT they were thinking. Fifth..stereo sounds GREAT. Bigger speakers than the RSV and really sounds nice. Sixth..started it up and you can certainly tell that it's a V-Twin. Vibration is not as bad as a Harley but it certainly does vibrate. I actually like the vibration though as I do with the Harley. Probably smooths out nicely at speed. Lastly...WOW...it sure is ugly. Sorry...but regardless of the few positives...I just don't think I would ever be able to get over the ugly.

Was browsing through E-Bay and came across a listing for a Roadliner. Interesting that some of the looks are very similar for the Victory vision http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Peral-White-Roadliner-S-with-Corbin-package_W0QQitemZ120545981612QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item1c1119b4ac

OK folks, I've had a few emails lately asking about my condition. So, I suppose it's time to let you know what condition my condition is in. As for the cancer, I honestly don't know. I was told after the surgery and radiation that they could not tell me anything until I go back for my 6 month checkup. That appointment is on November 2nd. At that time, I will go back to Boston to have all the tests repeated and only then will I know if the treatment was successful. As for the vision. They told me at the time of the treatment that the primary goal was to treat the cancer. They said that if they were able to save my vision, that should be considered a bonus. They also warned me to got get overly optimistic because any vision loss would not necessarily be immediate but could come at any time as long as two years after the treatment. I had started to get very confident because my vision had remained unchanged...that is until about a month ago. A few weeks ago I started thinking that I was losing some of my vision. It was hard to tell for sure but I just felt that there was a bit of cloudiness in the peripheral vision of my right eye. Then I would think that I was just imagining it. Well, it has continued to get worse and there is no doubt that I am losing vision in my right eye. Over the past few weeks, the vision has gotten progressively worse. I'm going to estimate that it is probably cloudy about 30% to the right and seems to be getting worse pretty quickly. So, that's the status at this time. Only time will tell how far the vision loss progresses. It could level out where it now is or I could lose it completely in that eye. The good news is that it is at least a fairly gradual thing so that helps me adjust to it as it happens. If I lose it all but then find out in November that they DID get all the cancer, then that is a blessing. Sorry I took so long before I let you all know what is going on. Heck...I don't always accept things as quickly as I should. It was only late last week that I finally told my wife that I thought I was going blind in my right eye. I guess I thought that if I just kept it to myself and ignored it, then it wasn't really happening. Thank you all for your emails and even more so, for your prayers. They mean more than I can ever express to you. Don

Lets say you had the cash to get what ever touring bike you wanted what would it be, and why? Would it be a HD ultra, a Victory Vision, GL1800, Kaw Voyager, or a RSV. There seems to be alot of Tourers available now days. I'm not ready to buy just yet, but I seem to keep changing my mind on what my goal is. I used to have a 05 RSV, loved it, but thought I had to have a Harley so I bought an 08 HD ultra which I have since sold. I've put a few miles on a GL 1800 (test drives). Put a leg over a Vision on a show room floor, and have yet to see the Kaw Voyager “in person”. Now, personal I can cross the Vision and Kaw off the list because of the looks. The vision looks like a star fish on wheels, and the Kaw looks like a bunch of aftermarket parts tossed together. That leaves RSV, HD and GL1800. I think the RVS looks the best, but then I think of all that power and sport bike handling of the GL1800. The HD I had was ok, but not as roomy as the RSV not to mention the heat from the air cooled V-twin, not so much for me but it would heat up the wifes right leg, but it's a Harley?? Just when I set my goal for the RSV, I change my mind citing the I-basket problem and that damn tape deck. So then I tell myself ok, my next bike will be a gl 1800, but then I look at the prices and not real sure of the seating position and it kind of has that plain look. I put a list of thinks together that are important to me like Water cooled, comfort, power handeling, gages, looks, repair cost, warranty, durability and reverse gear. I graded the HD, RSV and GL on a points system and the RSV came out just a nose in front of the GL. So I’m sure I will not go back to the HD so that leave me still on the fence RSV or GL. What would you do?

Just got my new Rider Magazine. Touring shootout this month between the Star Venture, Kawasaki Voyager, Victory Vision, and Harley Ultra. They picked the Voyager last, second to last the Vision, and tied for first place the Harley and the Venture. I guess the Venture isn't that long in the tooth. They did make fun of the tape deck.

Rider magazine V tourer shootout. Kawi Vulcan Voyager 4th place, Vision 3rd place, Venture and Ultra Classic tied for 1st place!

Not looking for trouble just honest opinions. I am currantly mounted up on an 08 Venture. But went to a PGR meet and greet at Strokers in Dallas this past saturday. They are a Victory dealer, Big Dog, and a few others I imagine. Anyway went inside the show room to "just Look" guess what caught my eye, (the gals too)? The Victory Vision Tour Premium. Looks like a sweet ride. Big, Bold, Futuristic, and maybe just too sweet to pass on. I don't know. I love my venture. 40k+ in a year. But this vision is just freekin cool. so heres the questions. Anybody Rode one? Opinions please. Anybody bought one? After the honey moon thoughts. Anybody thinking like me but afraid to trade a devil you know for one you don't? Be honest and constructive, 23k and change as is on the dealer floor. I know thats a cosiderable bit more than our beloved Ventures do you think the value is there? I read a few on line reviews and the bike has recieved a better than favorable rating. Kicked the snot out of the Ultra. was not rated against the Venture that I could find. what will I be giving up going from the V 4 to a V twin. seems to make the same horse power +or- but the torque seem to be a bit more. Thanks Herb:fishin:

I was looking at some pics of my old 83 Venture last night and it reminded me somewhat of the style of the Victory Vision. I know they don't look that similar but with the lines of the 83-85 saddlebags the bike does have a swoopines that reminds me of a Vision. I'm not old enough to remember when these bikes were new. Was the Venture seen as a radically styled bike at the time, like the Vision is now? http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/epic_mcy/250/83_venture_250.jpg http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:HP63CONAb7UmAM:http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery%2520C/Victory%2520Vision%2520Street.jpg

I am new to VentureRider and not an owner yet. I already have a Victory Kingpin but have found a great looking used Venture I am ready to add to my garage - just have to get home to convince my wife! Since I have a Victory now, all the Vic dealers can only talk about the Victory Vision. I have not adjusted to the look, a little to Jetson-esque for me, but they will talk forever about how it is so advanced. Have any of you Venture owners taken a look or test ride on a Vision? How does it compare in your book to the Venture? Thanks! mwspoon
