Also if anyone would rather have a brown backrest instead of a gray or black, in similar nice conditon and interested in a trade of some sort. The rest of the backrest is in excellect conditon. My 91 VR upholestry is the medium gray color.

Anyone know how to repair Vinyl. I have some cracking and a couple of very small spots where the top layer of the vinyl is gone. It would be nice to seal it so to stop the cracking from getting worst and to seal the tiny spots where the top layer has pealed off.

Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to take care of or clean vinyl stripes on a car. Bought the car in '09 (2007 Mustang GT) and the dealer had added the stripes to it after it came in from a lease. A year later the stripes became "mottled" so I had them replaced. Now they are looking "mottled" again. Normal wash and wax when I do the car. I've tried vinyl cleaner but doesn't seem to give them any protection and the discolouration comes back again. If I replace them again I'll get the stripes painted on ! Suggestions?

Made white faceplate labels for 83 dash similar to Reddevilmedic http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63342 Difference is I completely removed the face plate, Not for faint of heart pulling needles. Then I used the dreaded brake fluid to completely removing the original silk screen printing from the faces, leaving clear plastic glass. Then applied the white vinyl labels, and reassembled. Now my blue LED back lighting shines thru the vinyl label completely lighting up the gages. Major improvement IMO.

I want to make a set of saddlebag bibs that match my Hopnel tank and trunk bibs. I finally found and bought some basketweave vinyl that is a very close match. I thought that the vinyl braid would be very easy to find but I've looked everywhere that I know to look and haven't been able to source it. It is about 5/16" - 3/8" wide. Any ideas?

Greetings and "looking fof a seat"
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Greeting all. I just got my second Venture and am glad I found this board. It seems like alot of good contacts and information. Wondering if anyone has an extra "all vinyl" seat and back rest (the one that goes on the back trunk). The new (1987) Venture that I bought has a vinyl and cloth seat (I believe it's an actual Venture seat as I've seen it on other bikes) and I'd rather have an all vinyl one on my bike as I ride in the rain an would prefer something to just wipe off and hit the road. The seats are in decent shape and would even consider a trade if you're looking for a little fancier seat then the vinyl one you have. Please let me know if you have something or know of a place I might look to find one (byekryam@aol.com). I'm in northern NJ. Thanks so much. Woody -
Looking to remove the strip of vinyl on my 06 venture gas tank. Is this a big job? looks like a lot of glue, but a heat gun should do it. I'm going to be putting on or replacing it with a Hopnel tank bib tux with pouch. I don't want it to sit to high off the tank. Also will the black plastic upper tank piece(around the ignition) fit tight enough without the stock vinyl. thanks:think:

I have the Hopnel tank bib and trunk bib on my '99 but I have something else in mind and would like to match that fabric. It is a basket weave vinyl material. Do any of you know where I might be able to find some of it?

I'm starting to look at spring cleaning the outside of the house and need some advice. I have some lime/calcium deposits on the vinyl siding from the irrigation system and haven't been able to find anything to remove them without ruining the siding. Products like lime away and others say not to use them on vinyl siding. The JoMax cleaner I use cleans everything else, algae and such, but doesn't touch the calcium/lime scale. Does anyone know of something that works?

I REALLY don't care for the Vinyl seats / backrests on my 07 Venture. They make me sweat more than Leather did on my previous bikes. Has anyone here had them recovered with Leather? I am thinking about checking with a few upholsterers here in Omaha to see what they would charge. What do you think? craigr

I am reaching here a bit on my memory, did a search on here but didn't find it... back in"83 I got a package in the mail from Yamaha introducing the brand new "83 Yamaha Venture, advertising stuff the normal, a map of the United States, and a square little record made of a flimsey vinyl with a 45rpm cut with a Song "Don't Follow Any One"...a Waylon Jenings type voice singing the song......any body else remember that?

When I got the 90 Venture there were a couple of holes in the seat. I used black vinyl and vinyl cement to repair the holes. The vinyl and cement are actually tarp repair items. Most places that repair tarps for big rigs should have it. The adhesive works like contact cement. You clean both pieces with alcohol, then put the adhesive on both parts and let tack over. Once it tacks over just put in place and push together and it is done. If you have a seperated tear you can stitch it together to hold and glue a patch over that. I have included a couple of pictures. If anyone can't find the materials locally they can pm me as we use this stuff at work.
