Well, the wife and I just got back from a nice trip. We left NJ on Monday morning and went up along the Delaware river into Port Jervis, NY. then up 209 to around kingston and up 9w (depressing) and some other back roads and stayed just north of Saratoga Springs. Next day it was doing some sighting in the area and then up to Vermont and then south through the Green Mountains and into the Berkshires of MA. Then back to NY for the night and then home to South Jersey. Nice trip. It only rained 4 or 5 times. Mostly on top of the mountains.

Just wanted to let everyone who doesn't know this about some old Vermont motorcycles laws. The State Police are now stopping people and checking to see if they have at least four square inches of reflective material on their helmets, this one has been on the books for awhile. I'm not sure of the fine but any fine is too much. The other law is about your license plate, it has to be horizontal and not vertical. I went to get my Hardtail inspected and had to turn my plate around, The guys at the shop were only doing their job. This one again could've cost me some money never mind points! The Killington Classic is coming up soon and the rumor is the State Police will have a "motorcycle checkpoint" close by, same thing as Americade! Don't give them the chance to tag you!! Joshua

It appears my wife and i will be attending this rally over the labor day weekend. It's put on by the Americade rally folks only it's much smaller. It's the first year for it and it's limited to 300 people. Also it's based in Burlington Vermont instead of Lake George NY. Anyone else going to this or thinking about it? If so we would like to get together and meet some of our fellow VentureRiders!-Jack

Hi Looks like we may FINALLY get at least a short break in the weather so I'm planning a solo three day trip that will take me from New Brunswick, through Maine and New Hampshire, into Vermont (July 09). I expect to stay overnight in the Barre/Montpelier/Burlington area, take a ferry across Lake Champlain, circle through the Adirondacks and stay the second night (July 10) in the North Conway area. Return to NB via Hwy 1. This is my tentative route: Trip I don't know much about that part of Vermont so I was wondering if someone can recommend a reasonably economical place to stay between Barre and Burlington? I'll be rolling in fairly late so I want to make arrangements before I go. Also looking for restaurant recommendations and alternate routes that might be worthwhile. I can't really extend the total distance because of time limitations. Thanks Ross

Yesterday a buddy and I saddled up and hit the road at 7AM. From Connecticut we traveled North clear up to Vermont. On Route 89 in Vermont we hooked up with 1900 riders at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to do the Vermont Thunder Ride. Once the Ride began at 11:30 AM hundreds of other Riders joined in at various points. End result was that over FOUR THOUSAND Riders participated in Vermont Thunder. The Ride ended at Enosberg Vermont nearly 50 miles north of Montpelier(Capitol of Vermont). There was a short Ceremony honoring all Vets and our POW's still missing and unaccounted for from all past Wars. All total we rode over 700 miles yesterday. With the exception of riding in pouring down rain the 1st 45 miles of the Thunder Ride all else was EXCELLENT! The entire Ride route was lined with folks waving American Flags and cheering on the Riders. For anyone not doing the Rolling Thunder "Ride To The Wall" in Washington the Vermont Thunder Ride is more than worth the effort! This Ride is sponsored by both Rolling Thunder and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. NO RIDERS FEES WHATSOEVER!! To those who have served or are still serving in our Armed Forces.......THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!! Boomer.......who damn well knows the price of freedom.

Well I've owned my 07 for almost two months now and I've done about 1500 miles in and around Vermont and down to Cape Cod twice. Everyone is right, it is a sweet ride. I've still not gotten accustomed to the noises that it makes. Harleys are a lot differant. But anyway, my wife and I did a 200 miler on Sunday and we finally saw another Venture (two riding next to each other) We were in the town of Manchester in bumper to bumper traffic, damn tourists! But anyway they saw me and I yelled hey there's a Venture and got a big smile from both of the quys. I know kinda hookie but it was pretty cool to see another one. If any of you riders are in The Vermont area on Columbus Day Weekend come down to the Apple Pie Festival. Its a day long event in the town of Dummerston and usually they see at least 500 to 600 hundred bikes stop for Pie!!! Great area to ride in Joshua

Hello everyone, I just recently joined this great group of people and I was wondering if there is a group that meets in Southern Vermont or within a resonable distance from the Ma/Vt border. My wife and I still belong to the local HOG Chapter but we're looking to expand our search for new friends (Big Metric Bikes). I'm still learning how to navigate this site so I may have missed something somewhere. thanks Joshua
