I am thinking about selling the Valkyrie and going with the Kawasaki Voyager or a Victory Vision or Cross Country. Any thoughts?

I took a 2001 Honda Valkyrie Interstate out for a ride this afternoon and was very impressed with the ride and the sheer power of the scoot.WOW, this blows my 85 outta the water! It was too quiet as i had trouble hearing it running at times but it seemed to fit me well and felt a lot lighter at low speeds than my 85 G1. I managed to talk him down to a lower price and he has to discuss it with his family and get it cleared off his loans to be free for sale. I should find out in the next day or so if the bike is going to be mine. Brian

A friend of mine is putting his baby up for sale and its a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate in a gorgeous red and all the safety chrome. I am disappointed that Honda didnt put Cruise on these machines, but Audiovox makes a universal unit that will work that I can install if I buy the scoot. Do any of you knowlegable experts know if these units have any gotchas that I should be looking for? This Interstate has about 35k miles on it and has been garaged and has new tires on it, with no scratches or marks anywhere. My total price will be 9000 bucks. Brian

Hello, this is my first post. I am looking at a 2005 RSTD with 24K on it. It has a complete custom paint job, quadzilla fairing, hard bags a tour trunk, Supertrapps, K&N pods and probably every other thing you can think of. Here is my question... I am 5'8" tall with a 29-30" inseam. Yea.. I am a short guy. I have had many bikes over the years and although I feel more comfortable on smaller bikes I prefer the big touring bikes. Regarding big bikes.. I have owned 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500FI 2001 Honda Valkyrie 1990 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic I sold the Valkyrie because I just couldn't flat foot the bike even after I had the seat shaved. I even dropped it once with my wife on it trying to park. I fit on the Vulcan 1500FI perfectly but I sold it because it has spokes and I got a flat on a rear tire once that took 9 hours for a tow truck to come. No more spokes for me. I also fit on the Ultra Classic perfectly after I cut down the seat. I sold it because it had an electrical issue and it was starting to leak. Great bike though. I checked out this 2005 RSTD. The original owner put 20K in to it. Its absolutely beautiful. I sat on it and I could flat foot the bike. I was shocked because the bike has gel inserts in the seats. It just didn't feel as heavy as the Ultra Classic or the Valkyrie but from what I have read its a bear for low speed maneuvering and it does weigh every bit as much as those bikes weigh and I will say.. its enormous!! I am concerned about things like backing into spaces. It was very difficult wih the Ultra Classic. That bike also felt very top heavy. So.. what I am asking is... and I know this is a fairly subjective question, is the 2005 RSTD all loaded up with a fairing and a tour trunk too big of a bike for a short guy? The reason I am asking is because before I bought the Valkyrie fellow riders told me that it doesn't matter about the size or my size.. I will get use to it. I joined the Valkyrie forum and found out that 90% of the owners were all big guys... 5'-10" to 6'-5" tall and that most of the short guys like me were scrambling around trying to find ways to lower the bike or the seat. I never did get used to that bike. Any insight or comments for a potential buyer are appreciated.

Pulled into Racers Bar and Grill and saw this nice Royal Star in the parking lot. Turns out to be owned by a guy I've known for 3 years but have never seen him on anything except for his Valkyrie. It's a 96 he bought new and has hardly rode it since he bought his Valkyrie. He made that custom seat. Says he's now using it for his around town ride.

I've recently purchased a 07 RSTD with just a bit over 40,000 miles. I've read about some having to replace the CLUTCH BASKET and it being under warranty. I've recently changed the oil just to know it had been changed and what was in it. I replaced the oil with Full Synthetic Mobil 10-40 High Mileage formula (non energy conserving) I had noticed the slipping feeling before the oil change but do not know what oil was in it) The reason I ask is I have experienced what feels like a clutch slipping under hard acceleration. I am not sure if this is a idiosyncrasy of this bike or if it is actually slipping and/or will need replacing in the future. My wife's HD Fatboy has the same feeling too when I run it hard and it only has 8,000. miles on it. I had always attributed the feeling to its belt drive stretching. At 8000 miles I doubt it is slipping, and it runs out really well but he HP and Torque #'s are no where near the TD's or Valkyrie's. (all work on it has been done by a dealer.) Since the TD is a shaft drive I would expect it to feel like my Valkyrie which once engaged in a gear it stays no slipping under hard acceleration at all. Just lots of torque. Both the TD and the Valkyrie have hydraulic clutches, the TD is a much lighter feel than the Valkyrie so is it safe to assume the clutch springs on the Valk are heaver to deal with the extra torque? 2ND ??? What are the symptoms of the CLUTCH BASKET needing to be replaced and HOW CAN I TELL IF IT HAS BEEN DONE OR WHCH BASKET IS IN MY BIKE? Thanks for all the help, Tom

For those who have thrown a leg over a Honda Valkyrie Interstate how would you compare it to the RSV. I've seen a few go pretty cheap on ebay.
-
If all goes well in the morning I will trade my RSV for a Valkyrie. The Valk is 7K and they are paying off the 7.7K that I owe so I figure I'm getting 14.7 for the RSV. This will be my 4th Valkyrie...I can't seem to stay away from them. Maybe I'll still go to Jax next weekend for the M&E...if Hondas are allowed.

I spent this last weekend with a group of Valkyrie owners in the Prairie Du Chien, WI area riding some really awesome roads. I ride with this group often and always ride at the back as designated sweeper. While I still miss the '98 Valkyrie Tourer I owned a few years back (when I initially met these folks), my satisfaction and respect for this RSV just continues to grow. I just can't think of another bike I'd rather own right now. 47,000 miles over the last two years and going (very) strong. Thank you all for the tech articles and camaraderie. I visit here daily. Ken

I just aquired a 2005 RSV. Fantastic Bike although I will miss the speed of my "For Sale Valkyrie" I am trying to install a Garmin Stree Pilot III and took all the screws out of the inside of the fairing and it wont budge. Can someone tell me where the tabs are located and how to split off the fairing without breaking anythig ? I need to get into the 5 pin Din inside the fairing. I tried geting in between the passenger Din under the rear seat but it did not work. Could not hear the Garmin Lady on my headset or speakers. I did not find how to split the fairing in any of the Service Manuals or Parts List. Any help would be appreciate. Pictures even better !!!! Dave Nager X Goldwing & Valkyrie Rider Lovin the RSV !

Went and picked up my windshield for the 83VR and the dealer has a very nice Black 99 Honda Valkyrie Interstate for sale. 38000 miles. Talked with the sales rep. and thought we had a out the door price agreement of $7200.00. Called him today to tell him I'm going to credit union in the morning and he said he can't remember agreeing to that price. So going back out there tomorrow and if the price is right will make a move on it. So that will mean the 83VR will be for sale. Just have to see what happens.

Just bought this 2004 venture, 8800 miles, gave $9500.00 that may have been a little high, but this bike looks like it just came off the show room floor. Plus 2 macthing helmets with intercom. On the sad side my Valkyrie I have had for 10 years must now Go. Of course it's going to my nephew. Also my wife's new ride, 99 Road star, lowered, road house dooly exhaust, beach bar the works.

Folks: Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Hartco seat on the Second Gen Venture. If so, can you offer a comparison to the stock units or other aftermarket seats? Previously, I had a good experience using the Hartco seat on my Honda Valkyrie. This information is being requested with the full understanding that each persons derriere is different. Thx.
