I have opened up my float bowls on my 96 RSTD to clean the pilot jets. I figured that I should check the float levels while I was in there. Unfortunatly the older 2nd gens have different carbs than what V7Goose has in the tech section. I have downloaded the manual and I can't seem to find a measurment. Any help would be appreciated.

hope v7goose is on here. looked up replacement pumps and found the napa posi-flo part # 610-1050 but saw were it had 4-6.5 psi and thought that v7goose said its better to go with the factory spec at 3 psi and not dobule it. i did find a napa pump with part # 610-1051 whis has 3-4.5 psi so is this the better choice??? thanks for your answer.

A HUGE thank you to V7Goose!! I made the ride to Texas this past weekend where V7Goose provide me with a one on one maintenance clinic. Here are just a few things done and covered: 1. Set the floats in the carbs 2. Sync the carbs 3. Adjusted steering head 4. Corrected wiring issues in passing light bar 5. Corrected the manufactures defect and dealer error issues with light bar 6. Installed and balanced new rear tire 7. Check and greased rear wheel assembly 8. Installed "levelizers" and adjusted air pressure in shocks Kent (V7Goose) provided information, service and hospitality greater than expected or deserved. So here's to you Kent; a tip of the hat, a bow at the waist and a hardy handshake of appreciation my friend. Thank you !!! Tony (archeryguy)

Just a thanks to V7Goose for my own personal maintenance day. Went to house at about 9 am on Saturday and commenced to tearing down my 05 RSTD. Got the carbs off, and had to adjust all 4 of the floats. Put in new plugs, changed out all of the coolant, synced the carbs and adjusted the mixture screws. A long hot afternoon, but a success. Thanks again.

Okay, been consistently riding at 65 mph on Interstate to work the last couple of weeks and gas mileage has been around 34 to 35 mpg, 1 up. Also been smelling gas and seeing a spot from the four tubes on the left side. So yesterday tried V7Goose idea of adjusting the floats. This is the first time I have ever taken carbs off of any vehicle, let alone 4 of them. Actually the process was not bad at all, just follow the article Freebird has in the tech section. Got on the phone for a little bit with V7, just to confirm how to measure , thanks V7Goose. Put everything back together, went for a quick run around the neighborhood to make sure the bike still ran. Also no backfiring, have Khromewerk slip ons. Today, going to 2 up at 65 mph, got 40.9 mpg, :cool10: I will try going around 80 mph on this next tank going to work and let you know what the mph is. I do know at 80 to 85 mph, 2up I was getting around 30 mpg. So if I can get 35 mpg at 80 mph, I will be a happy camper. :cool10:
