I picked up a digital multi-meter from Canadian Tire ($150) that came with an inductive pickup thinking for that price I'd have no problem doing an rpm reading for tune-ups. What I found was that the reading at idle would jump all over the place in the range of 300rpm to 1500rpm. Repositioning the pick-up didn't fix it and I couldn't get a steady reading. Need a recommendation on a tach/multi-meter that will give a steady reading and is usable for setting the idle on the RSV. I've seen the Harbor Freight on online ($30 - http://www.harborfreight.com/lcd-automotive-multimeter-with-tachometer-kit-95670.html ) but is it any good / usable? What is recommended or used by members ? I like the look of the Baron's 1" tach that mounts on the resevoir but don't want to spend that much money and don't really need a permanent unit. Just want a simple removable (multi-meter or dedicated to just rpm) tach for the times I synch my carbs.

Anyone else have this problem? My 87 is too friggin heavy to get it up without assistance. I am ready to chop off 2 inches so t will be usable in a parking lot at least. Or should i bring a come-:179:along and park near a girder or streetlight? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/179.gif

I could use you all to way in...I have my steering head apart and can not get the bottom bearing to unseat. It is sitting in a plastic cup. Like to know how much I can beat on this and still have usable parts when done. New parts are days away and I need to ride soon.....

Finally got around to installing the parts I bent up when I dropped my 05.... Total of the damage wasn't bad, thanks to Ponch who 'donated' the trim ring for the headlight. I replaced the headlight and passing light visors, checked the front fairing really well and it diesn't seem damaged.....engine guard was saved by the highway pegs, so I really made out ok. I'm going to add the slightly bent visors to Eck's list...they're usable, and might need some straightening. Also going to make the headlight trim available if anyone needs one really badly. Its usable, just has a crack in it. Now if I only had time to ride the stupid thing!!!
