Upper Wind deflector for 06 RSTD
Guest posted a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Does anyone have information on good looking & functional upper wind deflectors for a 06 RSTD? I am trying to block the cold wind off of my knees. -
Has any put Baker Air Wings on their 1st gen? I got upper, mid, and lower ones but the two upper ones you have to drill into the fairing. No I' m not crazy about doing this. I wondering if anyone has had any problems with the fairing cracking eventually from the drilling? Do you like them?

We are in the process of rebuilding our VR Assistance List. If you can and are willing to offer assistance to a member who is riding through your area, please edit your profile to include that information. Simply click on "Settings" at the upper right of the page and then scroll down to "Edit Profile". Near the bottom you will find a place to select "yes or no" in regards to offering local assistance and then a place to select services that you may be able to offer. Cowpuc just mentioned in another thread another, and maybe easier, way to get to it. Click "forum actions" in the small menu at the top. Select edit profile. Scroll down and you'll see where to select your information.

These guys would like to become sponsors of VentureRider.org You folks have no idea how many sponsors I turn down here. I have to be sold on the company and/or product before I will consider it because I want to only recommend great products and companies and I don't want to clutter this site with banners. I try to limit the number of banners to only a few at the upper right of our site and keep that number down so that each sponsors banners comes up often. That being said, what are your opinions on this windshield? http://www.baggershield.com/

The pickle picker upper. My wife is tired of me borrowing her pickle picker upper. Anyone know of a mechanic version of the pickle picker upper?

I need a triple tree for a 1989. I requested and purchased a triple tree recently. It turns out it's the wrong one. Triple tree facts: the triple tree I need turns out to have the same lower as the 1200, but the upper (on the backside will have the casting numbers 1NL) will facilitate the second gen need for a vibration dampener system. The important thing here is, lower half of triple tree fits both 1st and 2nd gen. Upper half of triple tree has casting number 1NL and has bigger holes to facilitate the vibration dampener system. So, bottom line is, I need one for the 2nd gen. Look for the "1NL" on the under side of the upper and that will be the right one. It's not very distinct, but the old style is cast with "26H".

The pictures below are of the passenger seat and upper corners of the backrest. I showed some members at the Henry Ford M&E and the thought was it could be the dye or glue seeping through. It feels like tree sap, very sticky when the sun is out. The light colored spots are where I've tried Goo Gone on it, the real dark areas are new spots. It started out just on one corner of the seat and now pretty much spread across the entire rear of the seat. (the white spots are fibers from a towel I put on the seat so my Daughter didn't stick to the seat) Last Sunday at the M&E the Right upper corner was just starting to get sticky. Yesterday the Left corner started and is a mess today. When the sun is out it gets VERY sticky and will stick on your fingers. When cool at night barely sticky at all. Whats going on here, any guesses? First two pictures is of the seat, next one is Left upper corner (just started) last one is of right upper corner, you can see how much color has came out of the seat using Goo Gone in the last picture. Goo Gone doesn't do anything to get the sticky gone, just seems to take color away.

OK, so I ruined my upper deflectors that mount to the inside of the upper fairing when it's split (not the ones down below the lights on the fork). I've got the plastic protrusions that they screw into rebuilt with Plast-Aid since I messed them up with Loc-Tite last month, but the deflectors are irrepairable. Other than ordering OEM replacements at the dealership - for which they want a fortune - does anyone have any ideas on where I can find these? I've searched a number of web sites, and all that seem to pop up are the lower deflectors. I'm interested in both new or used. FYI, the OEM part numbers are: 4XY-2834V-00-00 called Protector 1 4XY-2834W-00-00 called Protector 2 Thanks!

You can now print out a list of upcoming VentureRider events. You can also search the calendar if you prefer but that is just a side benefit and probably not that useful. To use the new feature, just click on the "Search" link in the upper menu bar of the forum. Just leave the search box blank and click "GO". That will open up a new page where you can select "All Events" and then select the month or range of months that you want to display. Click Go and you'll get the list of events posted for that range. Then at the upper right, you have two buttons to choose from. One is to download it as a iCalendar file and the other a .pdf file. This was requested by one of our members about 3 months ago while I was on vacation. I promised to see what I could come up with when I got back and totally forgot about it. I apologize for taking so long.

I've searched and cant really find anything on my problem, usually people have the problem that the brake light wont come on.... my issue is it wont go off. I tried doing some trouble shooting and I unplugged the foot brake switch with no avail so its looking like its the upper switch. I took the upper off and it seems to be moving freely, if I knew where it plugged in at I would unplug it to see if the light went off. So.... anyone know where it plugs in or have any idea what it could be???? Almost forgot... 2006 RSTD with 30k miles.

CLASS head needed for parts
dingy posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Does anyone have a working or non working CLASS controller head that they would part with cheap to help a member out. I have been working with Curtis, trying to get his CLASS system working to no avail. He bought a unit from Shawn Hess that was not working and I tried it in my bike and it didn't work there either. Bongobobby brought a unit to MD that also was not working. Both units have the upper circuit board malfunctioning, not the lower one that is covered in the tech section. I determined this by swapping boards out with my working unit. Could not see anything obvious with either one. Gary -
Hi I am going to look at an '87 Virago 1100, with 150kM / 93k miles, on Thurdsay evening. It sounds like a bargain, even despite its age, mileage and some mechanical issures. I just can't resist, even though I already have more bikes than I can afford to put on the road. I understand that the bike is aflicted with a starter problem common to the breed and that at present the starter does not engage at all. Also the bike has been in storage for a year or so and has no gas or oil in it at present. I am prepared for the fact that the bike needs some work but I would like to assure myself at the very least, that the engine is not siezed. What is the easiest way to do that at a pre sale inspection on someone elses turf when the starter is not available? http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/Virago1100/c1e731a4.jpg I am thinking that I could pull an engine cover to expose the end of the crank and then turn it with a socket wrench or I could get the bike rolling in an upper gear and pop the clutch and judge if it stops too quickly. Neither of these seem particularly doable away from home turf. If I put the bike on its centre stand, should I be able to turn the rear wheel by hand in an upper gear? Suggestions, advice, experience? Thanks, Brian H.

I thought I may take a minute to share this with you since I am aware there are a few mature folks here. And, I am sure some can relate to my current situation. Tomorrow morning at the VA, I not only have an upper endoscopy (upper GI) being done down my throat, but I am also having a colonoscopy(that's the other end). At the moment, I have just finished the 1st half gallon of the wonderfully refreshing drink and am seeing some results, if I want to look. My stomach currently sounds like a gang of Hell's Angels are making hot laps. I am at the point that it is hard to complete a sentence as I am both a slow typist and have these immediate needs that MUST be addressed. Now, if I am able to go to sleep later on(in the bathtub?), I have to get up at 3AM and finish the other half gallon. OK, I'm back, where was I? That's something to look forward to. So, if you think you were having a crappy day, I might want to trade with you. I will just be glad when things start clearing up. I have been assured by the VA that even though they are on a tight budget, they WILL use two DIFFERENT probes. Well, gotta run(no pun intended) and "May the Force Be with You". Speaking of, I don't need to force anything at the moment. RandyA

Would we be helping the overall site by clicking on the ad in the upper right of screen. Put another way, does this site get paid by the number of clicks on these ads?? I have no problem hitting these a couple of times a day if it helps out.

Since I'm too lazy to go out and check myself I thought I'd pop the question. When removing the rear upper frame assembly, do I need to worry about it being a part of the support holding the frame together, and will it make things go very bad...very quickly if not supporting the chasis. Tom Patterson's old '90 parts bike took a shot to the rear and bent up the trunk mount and frame, and lo-and-behold I actually have another upper... to replace the bent one. The rest of the frame looks pretty straight. I just wanted to make sure that the whole rig doesn't go ka-plooey when I take out that last bolt....

Been laid off for a couple weeks so I decided to put new lights on trailer. Hope to be seen now the original lights are so dull and LED is the way to go they are bright. I thought that upper light bar would really help. Put new license plate lights in and pulled the wire out on one need to replace that. Now all I need is warm weather.

While in Madill Oklahoma @ a gas stop on our way up to OKC a gentleman came up to me and was telling me about Yamaha having adjustable upper wind deflectors. They replace the clear plastic fixed deflectors attached to the bottom of the fairing on both sides. He said there in the new accessory catalog. I got on line and looked and did not see anything. Has anyone heard of these???

I installed a new set of handlebars with 2" pullback. Just got back from a week end trip to Savannah GA. Rode about 500 miles in the most beautiful weather and I didn't get any pain in my upper back at all. I also got to test out my windshield with a vent in it and it worked well. It was warm and we had a great time!!!

Some of you may have noticed that I've added a banner at the upper right of the site that says "VentureRider St. Jude Auctions". If you click on that banner, it will take you to a new classified's section that is dedicated to the items being auctioned off to benefit St. Judes. Those banners are random so you may have to refresh the page a couple of times to see it. You can also just click on the "Classifieds" link in the upper menu bar. I also want to thank the ever wonderful DragonRider for his continued efforts in regards to this cause.

You may notice that I have been doing some work on the menu bars at the top of the page. The lower menu bar was getting pretty crowded while the upper bar was almost empty so I've moved some things around. So...if you think something is missing, just look around a bit and you should find it. For example, the link to the chat room is now in the upper menu bar on the right side beside the donate button. Really...I just did it to keep you all confused.
