This is somewhat of a specific geographical question, so bear with me. Has anyone that lives down south in the constant hotter climates, installed a Buckeye stator and had problems with it failing? The reason I ask this, is that I purchased a stator and installed it with a new R/R and it appears that the stator has failed due to it running hot because of the wire size it was wound with. Have any of you installed the Buckeye and ran into this problem? I dont want to have to do this again, and I dont mind paying for quality. How happy have y'all been with the performance you have received from the upgraded Buckeye stator?

Hey everyone, all of my searches at Rick's Motorsports Electrics and at Buckeye Performance has tuned up...nada...in regards to an upgraded high output Regulator/Rectifier. I just replaced my Stator with a new High output one from Buckeye. Job Done ! Now I need the new Regulator/Recifier to allow me to flow all that extra juice. I have viewed and followed every thread and link I can find on this forum regarding this. Does anyone really know a company that makes or sells an upgraded higher output Regulator/Rectifier for the newer RSTD or Ventures ??? And while I just know that one or more of you are going to suggest the Shindengen R/R, I have done a lot of searching there too, and I have not found definitive info on exactly which part number would be used for my 2006 RSMTD. Thanks,

OK I see all the threads and posts about upgrading the spring on the RSV clutch but can't find anything on where to purchase the upgraded spring kit. I am getting a tiny bit of slippage when I really roll the throttle back in 2bd gear and thought if I changed the spring to the upgraded one it would stop this. What do you all think anf if you think mit will solve the problem which kit and where do I get it. Thanks Rick

Installed Earl's clutch upgrade today and I wanted to give him a big THANKS; The parts arrived promptly and the installation went smoothly. There was more oil in the clutch cover than I expected. I recommend placing a Gen 1 on its side stand, not the center-stand. Not a big deal, I was going to change the oil and filter anyway. The upgraded clutch set-up needs a little more pull on the handle, but, my clutch no longer slips at full throttle, and the clutch action is more linear. My Beast runs hard now!

Just upgraded the software here because of a couple of security updates. Please let me know if you see anything missing or not working correctly.

To recap: I got my progressive insurance transferred to my newly acquired 2007 RSV from a V-star 650. $790 a year, and for minimal coverage! I have gone to AARP Foremost and got it for less than HALF!!! So-o-o I upgraded to much better coverage and still paying over $300 less than Progressive wanted. I think the Progressive agent could see my smile when I phoned her to cancel.

One reason that the 1st gen Venture sometimes shifts hard or clunky is that the pins in the shift segment get loose over time. There is a stamped metal piece that hold the pins in place, and it doesn't take much for that piece to get bent and the pins don't fit tightly any more. Once the pins are loose and sloppy, the transmission will be a clunky shifter. If the metal tabs get bent enough that one or more of the pins fall out, the transmission can't be shifted past that point at all and you're stuck. Yamaha upgraded these parts to a one piece casting in the 2nd gen Venture. The one piece casting holds the pins solidly. The later parts are a direct swap into the earlier models, but Yamaha doesn't really acknowledge these as upgraded parts. If you ask for the parts for any year of a 1st gen bike, you're going to get the old style parts. You have to know enough to order the later parts or have the part numbers handy. Total parts cost is right around $50. Here are the part numbers needed: NOTE: Received this tip from Trader. When replacing old shift segment assembly from a 1st Gen. with the one piece shift segment from a 2nd gen, the old pins are too long and must be replaced with the part numbers shown. NOTE: save the shortest and smallest diameter "locator" pin from the old assembly to be reused (1) shift segment 4NK-18185-00-00 (5) long pins 93604-12037-00 (1) short pin 93604-16092-00 (1) clutch cover gasket 4NK-15462-00-00 These parts are in behind the clutch basket. I swapped these parts and did the PCW clutch kit at the same time. On my shift segment, the metal tab is badly bent and the pin was sloppy, and the two pins next to it are very loose. Even the other three pins were also a little loose. None of them were tight at all. The shift linkage can be wiggled up out of the way without having to remove the shift arm. These two projects took only a couple hours from start to finish and I was back on the road. Incidentally, this also applies to '96 and '97 Royal Stars and '98 and older VMXs. They use the exact same parts here and the same later upgraded parts bolt right in. For some reason, the VMX got these parts a year later than the Royal Star. All '98 and newer Royal Stars, '99 and newer Ventures, '05 and newer RSTDs, and '99 and newer VMXs already have these upgraded parts.

Some of the reviews say the brakes are the weak point on the 2005+ RS. Can they be upgraded to, say, Brembos, or anything? Thanks Jim
