Im sitting at a light today, a guy pulls next to me on a GW. Goes to put his feet down and all that touches is his toes. He then tries to lean the bike to one side to hold it up and oops . I get out and help get it to the upright position, and he says it happens on uneven pavement. I see guys all the time that don't fit there bikes so my question is why if you are height challenged do you feel you need a touring bike that is to big ?

I have noticed that my 2005 RSV 'seems' to have uneven acceleration. At highway speeds in either 4th or 5th if I roll on the throttle I think it is more responsive just before wide open. If I roll it wide open, it still accelerates, but I 'feel' it is not as strong. This bike has the power to pull out and pass, no problem. Gas mileage is good, and I have recently replace plugs and fuel filter, and air filters look good. Bike has about 24000 miles on it. New Elite III tires. I have tried it for top speed one day. Needle went way up there, but did not bury it (about 190 -195 km/hr or close to 115 mph). That doesn't matter to me, but I include that in case someone has any ideas. So anyone have any suggestions? I will ride the bike the way it is and be happy..it is just one of those things that I would like to address. I had an old 81 GW that had the same symptoms, but much much worse. Wide open it would barely accelerate. That turned out to be worn needles etc; and nothing a bunch of money wouldn't cure:mad:. Thanks.

Front brakes on my 89 are due for replacement. I'd like to beef them up. I've always thought they were a little weak. I don't want to put stainless steel lines on as that seems a little expensive. Are there brake pads that are better than others like from Buckeye for instance? Also, my mechanic tells me that when he has test driven it and brakes, particularly with just the right hand brake, there is a surging uneven braking action. I have felt this too. He says that it is because the rotor may be warped. I don't want to buy a rotor but would buy a used one. Looks like they go for about $50 plus s&h. Any ideas? Iowa Guy
