Got a new, " Ultimate " seat for the new 08 RSTD, Installed yesterday morning. Went rideing 2 hours yesterday, and about 140 miles today. So far, So Good !!! Not sure yet, but my you know what is not hurting this evening !!! :fingers-crossed-emo:fingers-crossed-emo:whistling::whistling:

I thought it was going to be Xmas today, as I was expecting a couple of packages from vendors, and indeed the packages did show up. Yeah for UPS ! Package # 1 contained my new Flanders bars, and my new upgraded high output stator, all from Rick at Buckeye Performance. I am planning on installing the upgraded stator sometime in August, because I have rides between now and then, and that way I have it on before I go on the Three Flags Classic. So today I went about installing the new Flanders bars, part # 650-08783. All went as expected, no issues, and while I did maintain the positioning of wires and hoses on the clutch side, as they were originally...I did reroute all the wires and hoses on the throttle side to be behind the triple tree. I also installed new Kury Iso-grips, in all black...without the weighted bar ends. I am happy with the installation, and in a short time I will get used to the newer longer bars, and the position they now put me in. I (believe) it will be a good thing, as I knew the OEM bars were too far forward. Package # 2 contained my new Ultimate seat for my '06 RSMTD. (drum roll please) Now folks, I have been around a long time, and as the name states...I have over a million miles on my butt. I knew when I took this seat out of the box that this was going to be a problem. I have owned over 25 motorcycles during the past 42 years of riding, and have had 9 saddles made by Russell Day-Long saddles. I am well known for being able to ride over 2,000 miles in 24 hours, so...I knew when I saw this seat that someone on the planet just surpassed Mike Corbin for making the worlds worst motorcycle seat. I went ahead and mounted the new seat on my bike. Sat on it...cursed a few times...got back off the bike...looked it all over...took several measurements...sat back on the seat again...cursed several more times...and decided to be a glutin for punishment and take the bike for a ride. After 100 miles, which was a waste of time, I knew I had to send this new seat back. The Ultimate seat website states that their seats are the same dimensions as the OEM seat, and positions the rider in the same place. That is not true. The "pocket" on this Ultimate seat is exactly 2" forward compared to the OEM seat. I felt like I was riding up on the tank. The quasi-back rest/butt rest at the back end of the seat is very much exaggerated in a forward position. I was hoping to TRY this seat on my ride next week to northern Calif., and if the seat worked, then I could cancel my appointment at Russell to have them build seat # 10 for me. I truly and honestly wanted this seat to work...because it would have saved me $ 300.00 off the cost of the Russell seat, when I include tarvel, motel, etc. Now, I know...there are different seats for different butts. And if you have an Ultimate seat...and you like it, that is great. I am happy for you. And if you have a Corbin seat, and also like it, I am happy for you too. But for me, the Ultimate seat now has the title of the worst seat in the world, followed closely by Corbin. There is a reason that 80 % of the bikes at the start of an IronButt Rally have a Russell saddle on them. I know that Terry and the folks at Russell can build a seat for me...in person...that will allow me to be comfortable riding 1500 mile days. I hate to spend the extra bucks, but in this case, you truly do get what you pay for. That new Ultimate seat that showed up at noon today, will be shipped out tomorrow morning...back to Florida.

My beloved Wifey does not like the current seat (Mustang) on my 2007 RSTD. I understand that the Ultimate Seat is, well, the ultimate. So, anyone care to weigh in on this?

I want to replace my seat, and am impressed with the Ultimate. Trouble is, that means I have to replace the passenger seat and my wife is not one for change, she wants to know if anyone has any experience with the passenger seat. She finds no problem with the stock seat and says it is the right thickness ( GEEEZ) but other than width I can't find anything about how thick the dang thing is. I told her Ultimate offers a trial and her response was I know you need a new seat so if you are happy with yours that means I have to switch. Good grief anybody out there have any experience with the passenger seat?

Well I ordered a new F4 windshield yesterday and suppose to have it by 530 PM tomorrow the 11th..It is a F4 +2 with vent..I will let you all know how I like it soon.(I ran out of chrome to order so working on other stuff now) Next on the agenda is going to be an Ultimate seat with Black full Inlay Ostrich..Gonna wait a few weeks on that as I need Debby to sit on one and make sure She likes it.

Well almost go all the shine on the New 08 RSTD today side-rails for the bags, running lights with visors . turn signals visors, chrome license plate cover and the ultimate studded seats are do in tomorrow. It is almost done for now.

Does anyone know for sure if the front seat (ultimate) will work with the stock rear on 05 and up. Also, has anyone mated a utopia backrest with a ultimate seat? If the two seats won't match, can you tell why? I know their website says, "no", but others have posted they think they will. -
Greetings all, I came discovered the Baron's Ultimate Light Bar this weekend. I am planning on purchasing and installing the Yamaha Passing Mount/Lamps. Is the Baron's product worth considering? Does anyone have these lights on their Royal Star? If so, do you have pics? Thanks in advance, Nick P. -
Would anyone know if a Venture rear passenger seat would fit my 07 RSTD? My wife says the seat I have is uncomfortable after about 40 minutes. I have the Ultimate seats...looking for a more comfortable rear seat. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

I talked with Des at the daytona store about the Ultimate seat for the RSV, He stated he had thought about making a seat cover with pad we could place on our stock seat pan. he said this would keep the cost down, because the tooling for a seat pan was the big expense. I described the problems I have with the pillow top and the reg venture seat, he looked and mine and could see what needed to be changed. He remembers me well I bought one of his first seats for the valkyrie. My wife tried one on her Road Star but it did not lower her any, which is what she was after. The ultimates are the most comfortable seats I have ever ridden, high dollar but worth it. If you are interrested, email Des at www.ultimateseats.ca with enough intrest I think he will produce us a seat, he said he was begining to se more Ventures, and thought maybe there is a market for an Ultimate for the RSV. My brother sat on the Goldwing seat and said it was awsome. I told him as soon as he got the first one made, its mine. Gregg

after much searching and reading It would appear that I'm shorter than most (5'7" with a 28" inseam). Is there anyone close to my size who has either the Ultimate or Mustang seat and if so, what are your views. I'm also interested to hear what your passengers think of these seats. thanks Greg:97:

The following report is in no way meant to tarnish a brand at all but my wife and I both feel it's important to give honest feedback so that people who use forums to educate themselves, get all the information possible to help the make decisions. I received the Ultimate seat late last Thursday and did the following rides, all with my wife on the back to test both seats properly. Friday we rode about 150 miles Saturday we rode about 200 miles Sunday we ride about 300 miles Monday (today) we rode about 100 miles Despite giving the seat lots of miles and different situations to give it a fair chance, here is why it's being returned. I don't like typing this because as a Canadian, I really wanted to buy and enjoy a seat that's made by a Canadian company. I realize that not everyone will like the same type of seat so this report is strictly what my wife and I experienced. My wife says the pillion is no better if not worse than the stock seat. Every day that we tested it, withing an hour or less she could feel the seams in the seat and felt like her butt bones were on the seat pan. Naturally this caused not only numb bum, but pain as well, long after each ride was done. I had a problem which came within 30 miles on each day of testing the seat. It caused me moderate to severe Sciatic pain on my left side and nothing I tried as far as seating and foot position made a difference. I also experienced the same numb bum and pain as my wife did but mine didn't last as long after each ride (cuz I'm tuffer than her ). The last time I experience this kind of pain on a bike was on my Goldwing which had 150,000 miles on the seat and my Doctor said that the pain I was experiencing was because the foam in the seat was collapsing and I was sitting on the seat pan. That's the exact feeling I have with the brand new Ultimate seat. The last thing is that although Ultimate advertises that their seat is the same seating position as the stock seat, it's at least an inch higher than the stock seat which is important to a short a$$ like me with a 28" inseam. We've had 3 Mustang seats in the past and have always been pleased with them. The reason with went with Ultimate this time was because of the seat height (Mustang is apparently 1" higher than stock) and because we wanted to buy Canadian because we'ed heard good things about Ultimate. We'll see tomorrow how good their money back guarantee is won't we. Anyway, still debating on the Mustang as I type this but suspect that I'll order a Mustang in the morning. Again, this is only our experience and we fully understand that lot's of people love their Ultimate seats. Greg

hay has anyone out there in venture land bought a ultimate seat. I was looking at on for a road* and would like to get some feed back before I buy. By the way how have you all been doing long time no type. Michael
