Hello fellow Venturer's, I was able to get my hands on the TomTom Rider 550. It is great just like my Brother @cowpuc finds the twisties for you along with free world wide map updates and free traffic- as long as it is connected to wifi or bluetooth off your phone. I really like it and will be using it from now on. Here is my review. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/07/01/tomtom-rider-550-review-gps-and-more-for-motorcycles/ VentureFar...

For the second time in a month now, riding some twisty's, I've lost my rear brakes. They come right back as soon as I stop (or stop using them). Only happens/happened on downhill twisties. I've been riding twisties for a while now and consider myself fairly competent at it. I have ridden twisties on this bike before and not had any issue. I tend to use front and back in combination to shed speed getting set-up for a turn and then a bit of trailing rear brake into the beginning of a turn as needed. Pretty sure my technique hasn't changed in the last 2 months (hit some twisties hard about 2 mo's ago with no issues) so looking for suggestions on where to start looking. Pads are about 50% life left. Have not changed the fluid since getting this bike. sp!ke

Finally hit 3k mileage on that 11 FJR I now own. On a ride this past Saturday, had a couple 2d genners try to hang with me both through the twisties (embarrassing for them) and to gain up distance they lost through the twisties in the straight aways) all while heading up and back down FM4 in North Texas. I think one of em ran outta gas cause I have no idea where they went. Ha Ha. What a fun, fast scooter to ride. I really must be careful. Want to ride it down to the Leakey ride but will have to wait to see if I can take vacation off from the nut house.

At a recent biker-type party I attended, a conversation was over heard that discussed the possibility of Swifty riding a second generation Venture, probably in light of a recent '07 deal for $10K. Someone said Swifty would never be happy with a bike like that because he couldn't ride the twisties like he does now. Then someone suggested that there are plenty of second generation Venture riders out there who could easily keep up with Swifty in the twisties. Whaddya think? Is it the bike or the rider...or the alcohol?

Im not sure of what the dark side is..LOL... but I used to be a Sport Bike rider, (canyons and track), until i got tired of the riding position of sport bikes and decided to switch to cruisers..lol....i still enjoy the thrill of canyon twisties and mountain riding, but i want to hear some experiences with people riding corners at certain speeds.... just about how much can a Royal Star handle on the twisties??.. i know its a heavy beast , but how does it handle??... what are some good tires for canyon riding on these babies?? thanks:pushups::pushups:

Like I said, I haven't been able to ride for a month between bad weather, and my TCI going out on me. Today, we went riding some good twisty roads with my oldest son and his girlfriend. He rides my old bike, that I sold him last March. I may be buying it back from him after he takes off to Basic Training next month. We rode some good twisties, then took the ferry across the lake, then rode the twisties again. We then ended up at our favorite local hangout, for some good bbq and 'liquid refreshment". Great times. I'm soooo glad to be riding again. Click on the pic... http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/th_IMG_0063.jpg

I live in Dunnville, commute to Hamilton. So I know of a couple of nice ones to ride. Here is my list in no particular order: Hamilton area: Scenic Drive- check out the homes and the view Ridge Rd- killer views and a few twisties Niagara area: St Anns Rd (RR 69 I think) nice twisties Effingham Rd - twisties but a little bumpy lately Niagara Parkway - Millionaire's Row nice road and great views, even worth the ride through the mayhem of the Falls area. I like to go from Fort Erie up to Niagara Lake Erie shoreline: from Port Colborne through to Lowbanks, and then from Dunnville to Selkirk along the shore too. Second is a little bumpy but both nice rides. Thats what I've got for now.... anyone else want to add ......feel free! Always looking for a new ride!

So.. I have heard a lot of talk about the Dragon's Tail as a road that is fun for the twisties but I've never been on it. I was on two roads last week that certainly had some twisties and I am curious if anyone has ridden them as well as the Dragon's Tail and so could give some comparisons. I went to the Black Hills and first rode the Needle's Hwy down to Custer St Prk then road the Iron Mt Rd back up to Mt Rushmore. Iron Mt. Road had 15, 10 and 5 mph marked corners. It had an immediate 270 degree turn after exiting from a tunnel. It had the narrow winding slightly elevated blacktop split with each opposing lane having its own road then return together after a quarter mile. How does the Dragons Tail compare? Iowa Guy

Check out this twistie in front of my house. Just a normal Wv road.

From the letter I received from Avon, I just came back from putting 42 psi front and 48 psi rear. DO IT!!! That's what I was looking for when I bought the Avon's in the first place. High speed much improved and sticky in the twisties. Try it, you'll like it.

Finally made it back....Had a great time camping out....I had forgot how beautiful it is down there.....In all did around 1300 miles ....Took some of the roads some of you had suggested.. Did a lot of hopping over the border into Virginia..(Love Rt33 thru the mountains into Virginia) That has got to be one of my all time favorite set of twisties. There's a few pix in my signature (if it works) Got the Venture the dirtiest it has ever been took it up Dolly Sodz...Thought the thing was going to rattle apart ha!...Then took it up to Reddish Knob from the Sugar Grove side....Very dusty...Found out later I could come in from the Virginia side on paved road... Tell ya what it's hard to beat setting around an open campfire with friends and big ole T-bones on the grill with a few cold ones after a long day of riding... Liked it so well ...Were heading back down the weekend of the 19th to do it again..... Also.. if anyone get a chance take Rt 47 out of Parkersburg (WOW!) Very nice...Take it all the way untill you hit Rt 33....Nice twisties and switchbacks...
