1st gen throttle cable replacement

My 83 VR needs new throttle cables. How much disassembling is required to do it? Do I need to pull the battery and airbox to do it, or is there some slick trick I'm not seeing? Initially, I'm just doing the cables running from the twist grip. Thanks -
The choke on my 84 works. The bike starts & runs ok BUT the control won't stay on choke. I have to manually hold the contol towards choke until the bike warms up. The previous owner had a tiny bungee on it, but again my neurosis can't accept the bungee there. Is there any way to fix or adjust the...

It didnt happen all the time but travelling 70 mph it seemed like the engine dropped to a lower speed it even with the the cruise control it would kick off than i twist the throttle and Im back off running again

Hey Guys & Gals, I need to remove and reinstall my left Kuryakyn grip. What is the best way to do this? I have got it to twist some, but it looks like it is pulling the rubber away from the grip. Thanks for any help.
