I will try to add pics, if I can't get it done you should be able to see my installed horns in my gallery. You may want to take a look there anyway. AFI (Marinco) electric compact twin horns. A marine product, very resistant to adverse weather conditions. Maybe not quite as loud (109 dbA) as Stebel air, but IMO more reliable and from where I mounted 'em they are very effective in projecting the sound forward. I used 20 amp in-line fuse and 30 amp relay. I disconnected the factory horn hidden in the left lower cowling (it was barely audible from there anyway), and kept the stock factory horn on the right side near the exhaust. Results in three horns, two right out front, and MUCH better than stock. They are available from many vendors, here is one of the better ones. Sorry. I'll try to post 'em later if I get smart enuff.

Has anyone rode the route from Seattle WA to Las Vegas NV. Via (Seattle, Yakima, Kennewick, Bosie, Twin Falls, Las Vegas). Might be taking a ride around the June / July time frame. Whats the gas station situation like between Twin Falls Idaho to Las Vegas NV. I'd love to try that 1000 Butt ride thing, but probably won't for I'd probably fall asleep riding. My wife said she won't ride that far looking directly into the back of my helmet or constantly turning from side to side. She'll go by air. That be fine with me for I can make better time. Less potty brakes and rest stops.

So I had a lot of running around to meetings today so I took the 89. I have yet to see another 1st Gen in town. Got to one of the Defense Contractors and parked in the front lot in the cycle parking. And there she was...obviously separated at birth, born to different mothers, was my brunette's twin.

If so, can you let them know that we have had enough rain already here in the Twin Cities . Time for some sunshine and warm weather.

You said you had a pic of someone who was my twin down there in TX. I haven't seen a pic yet? So if there's no pic don't exist. I mean really me have a twin? Do you think this world is big enough for two little me's? I'm sure some folks on here would hate it if there were two of me. :rotf::rotf::rotf: Margaret

Well as I told Rocket, I was in need of a new gasket for the 83 Venture. While I was at the Yamaha dealer Pro-Am Motor-Sports here in Calgary, I received the part and I was on my way out. Something caught my eye(monthly payments 238.00:doh:) there in the pile of new bike there she was, Blue and silver accents hard bags big wind screen big v twin a 1300XVS13CTYL BLUE I asked Kerry the owner ( nice people here) the story about the bike he said this is a demo but he has one in the box, mind you this is an 09 model. So I saw the sticker on her and it had been discounted 3 times so I thought this would be a great time to Camel trade on the price. the original Canadian price wes @ 13,000.00 it was discounted to 10,899.00 well he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse it was out the door not including lic,& Ins. 11790.25 Nice..(pending finance with 5,000.00 down) Well today I'm ok with the finance. Get her Friday. WhoWho!! So I'm the new Owner of the big v twin. I'm keeping the Venture and will remain a stout participate on the best bike forum next to the BMW of America's forum so Holy cow I bought a new bike. Now any break in or radio accessories ideas would be nice, Rocket, we got to meet after lockdown. Timmie's in Redriver or call.. Thanks to all Mike R. in Calgary..pics next week:photographing:

Buzman sent me this pic that his wife found of my 86 VR and my kids. Thought I would share. Should have said this was an old pic. He rides a sportster now and she rides a Yam 650 twin.

What is the best way to do a twin antenna setup on a 1st gen? I have them both with extra mount. Should I run 1 antenna to the CB and eleminate the splitter, and the other directly to the stereo? Or go 2 into 1, then into the splitter?

Hi all, thanks for this great forum. Finally, with my beard starting to gray, I am going to get a big touring bike. After a bad experience on an 85 Honda Sabre many years ago riding from Detroit to Austin to New York (ouch), the ability to move around, a forward foot position, and the absence of vibration seem most important. Goldstar and Valkyrie are multi-cylinder and probably smoother than all the V twins out now, but foot position scares me, only one position not far forward, or highway pegs spread too wide. The obvious other choice is the Royal Star. I can't find one in Southern New Mexico to try. I'm in the processes of trying every big V twin, but would have to drive to Phoenix for a Royal Star. I want to know two things mainly: Is the bike with the V4 as smooth and vibration free as a Valkyrie? How close? And up to what speed is the bike/engine smooth and vibration free? 90? Or it that past it's comfort zone? (no I don't cruise like that all the time) I know a Stratoliner is much faster, but only care about being able to cruise fast with no strain on the motor and without it passing into a power band with vibration (hope I am getting what I mean across). Today on a test ride a Honda Sabre 1100 twin was smooth (for a twin) to 85, but at 90 the motor was vibrating the bike and me unacceptably. I want the smoothest most comfortable 85mph cruiser there is. Acceleration means little to me as long as it can pass a Toyota. Thanks for any help... Jim

Any truth to the rumor that Yamaha is doing a V Twin with fuel injection for a redesign of the Royal Star?

I'm not much into sport bikes but this is a nice bike. Wouldn't mind playing with it for a few days. 180 HP twin cylinder. http://www.webbikeworld.com/ducati-motorcycles/ducati-1098-r/
