1996 Royal Star : Been playing around with pilot screw tuning options. I have a digital induction rpm meter...rpm bounce around but never over 1200 or under 900 rpm when idol set at 1000, or as close as I can figure by ear. I set it but still not happy. Then I got an IR temp gun and with the heat around the motor I never seemed to be getting an accurate temp as it flucated no matter what I measured on..and I ,measured almost everything on bike. So yesterday I took all the pilot screws out and cleaned them up and cut a little deeper grove for the srewdriver. I put them back in, set and left it at that for the evening. I have a brand new Morgan Carbtune for syncing...could I set my idol fuel air mixture with it? Shouldnt the vacuum change as the rpm rise and fall...just a thought.

When i synched my carbs, i can get it almost perfect then when i hit the throttle its moves further apart then takes about 30 seconds to settle back into my final adjusted spot. What is causing this? I did notice on my way home(i was doing this at a friends house) that i hadnt completely open the choke, it was just a few mm's from being completly open. Could this effect the tuning in that way or is this unrelated? I will try to re-synch before i leave on my trip. I did notice a little pop pop pop on decelleration that i didnt have before but that could be related to last of the SeaFoam that is still in my tank. BTW, i also changed the plugs at the same time.

Some of the buttons on my radio were getting little flaky. Also I was having trouble manually tuning the radio. I did some searching here and found that the buttons were pretty easy to get to. I ordered a bunch of buttons on line. They were only a few cents a piece. Taking the radio apart was a breeze and soldering in the new buttons was just as easy. Replacing all of the buttons took less than an hour. The problem was that the manual tuning and memory buttons still didn't work. I found that by tapping the handlebar mounted module, the manual tuning buttons on the radio would work. The radio scan button was gunked and worn out. I took the module apart and replaced the scan button as well as the CB tuning buttons. Nothing to it and now everything works like new!

We just got back from a 12-day, 5,000 mile trip from Utah to Canada down the PCH and back to Utah. Everything about the trip was completely awesome - except for the rain we experienced in Canada. Oh my gosh! We were rained on for about 10 hours (500+ miles), and that just drowned my Stebel Nautilus horn. So, this evening while researching another Stebel replacement, I discovered an all black one called the NAUTILUS COMPACT TUNING BLACK. This looks like an improved finish over the poor-quality plastic chrome coating which my current Nautilus has. From a few reviews I have found, the Compact Tuning version might also be a little louder. My question is ..., does anyone have experience with (specifically) the Nautilus Compact Tuning model? Also, I am looking for the best price to find one of these. The vendor where I purchased my Stebel Nautilus, doesn't appear to carry their horns anymore. I am aware that there are many similar and less expensive alternatives to the Stebel brand horns and that they are easy to find at local auto parts stores, etc. However, I am still looking for info on this specific horn is anyone can offer me any personal eperience reviews or recommendations on where to find a Stebel Nautilus Compact Tuning Black model. Thanks guys & Be Safe! Pete.

Hi all. Finally getting around to tuning my antenna's that I installed last year. Does any one know of a place in the North Jersey area that tunes antenna's? Having a hard time finding a place. Thanks.

Finally getting my broken cb antena replaced by the dealer. When I asked about swr tuning I got one of those "oh it don't need that". True or false? Seems I read or heard said that the cb would go bad. Then again I know nothing about these things . I know some members have tuned their antenas for best operation but wanted to know if it's required or needed. I'd rather not let them mess with it unless I have to. Larry

Is anyone bringing their SWR meter along to Asheville? I'll be there Fri and Sat and would sure like to test the tuning on the CB radio. Thanks, kenw:fingers-crossed-emo
