If anyone is interested in a VMax final drive for $130 & shipping, PM me. One of my keyboard friends on VMax site has 2 of them. Guy is one of regulars there, so I would trust him myself. I would only serve to hook you two up, prefer not to have to handle it. Gary

Do you trust your GPS? When you are on UNFAMILIAR roads...do you trust the directions your GPS gives you? Ours has been wrong a time or two...and yesterday, coming thru Louisville, KY, we detoured for lunch...and when we left the restaurant, the GPS was not taking us back the way we came...so I tried to redirect Don back and got CONFUSED due to the fact that a couple different highways intersect in Louisville... Anyway...we lost 1 hr driving time, got held up due to an accident on the hwy...and should have trusted the dang GPS the first time. oh well...live and learn I guess. BTW: Don has a Zumo 660

I've put a few hundred miles on my '83 VR but I'm really haven't built my trust in the bike yet. It sat for several years before I got it and I don't know anything about its history. I spent almost a year working on it in my spare time just to get it running. It's very easy to start. It idles fairly smooth and runs really smooth. But something just doesn't seem exactly right when riding it. I really can't put my finger on what isn't right, but it just feels a little off. What I'm looking for is someone with a 1st Gen., preferably and '83 model that lives near Henry County Tennesse. I would like someone to ride my motorcycle and tell if it is running like a 1st Gen is suposed to. I really enjoy riding it but until I can build trust in it, I'm afraid to wander too far from home. Do we have any 1st gen members that live near here?

Warden and I had a strange conversation this morning. Even stranger than usual. I was talking about info I got on here and she asked "What makes you trust the info you get on there so much??" It took me a minute to answer. And my answer was a little lame. We learn to trust folks on here because??? I know I do and most of the time it is because they are proven right again and again. We speak from mostly experience. There are some very knowledgeable people on here and this is the first place I look for answers anymore. I even read some of what "he" writes and will admit he mostly knows what he is talking about. I said mostly. I see bad answers on here but they are usually corrected quickly. If you have questions about a thread most of the time just ask or wait and read and it will explain itself. Don't know what brought this on but I really appreciate what I've learned here. I've always wrenched my own things and this site has been a fantastic help. Not much I'm afraid to try on these beasts now!! Why do we trust the info we get here??? OK I'm done. thats about as close as I will ever come to saying "Thank you all for being here"

I'm a control freak. There. I said it. This means I am not a good passenger, I want to be in control because then I cannot be mad at anyone but me if something untoward happens. I rode, for the first time, on the back of a moto with my husband. I have ridden behind before, but never with Tom. I'm not sure if it's a trust issue or what, but today I decided to give it a try and trust that he won't do stupid things and kill me. It was fun after about 20 minutes. There were some twisties and I've always thought he takes curves to fast, so I just closed my eyes and turned my head toward the curve, so I didn't try and correct with my body. Ended up being a nice ride, my weight on the bike allowed him to be closer to flat feet so he was stable at stops (my biggest concern). We might even do it again!

Boy, no matter how good a friend someone may be, it turns out you just can't trust them. After the Pork in the Pines last year, I left my Virago with Gary (Whoomp). You know, the one that I went to all the trouble to customize the tank up on the Ber Tooth during the Cody Round Up. Well, just look at what he is trying to hand back to me. I mean, does that look anything at all like the scoot I left with him And no peanut gallery comments from you Rocket about seeing it for the first time off the trailer....

My wife Lori wrote this and sent it out to our riding group, I thought it was pretty good and I just wanted to share it with you: What have I learned during my backseat riding? Always trust your guide and driver. They have looked ahead and are able to guide me through the turns and hills with confidence, avoid the bumpy roads when possible. A driver has a better view of what is ahead than I do from my backseat. My guide and driver need to be someone I trust, who I know, and I know will want to make sure I have the best ride. A guide who is looking out for my safety. Always trust my guide. Trust, Trust, Trust, and relax. Rains come and go; sometimes you just have to go for it. When surrounded by good people, I don't mind being wet and cold so much. I know that the cloud will pass or that we will find protection. When we find shelter I can quickly warm up with the bond of a shared experience among friends, and at times laughter that we made it through. Don't let the chance of clouds deter me from my trip. I can enjoy, and appreciate, a different perspective of what I see on the same road during different seasons. Sometimes a difficult task for me, Every season holds its own distinct beauty; looking for and finding that beauty is up to me and will make my ride more enjoyable. I need to wear the appropriate gear; armor, if you will. My helmet protects me not only during an accident, but it also protects my head from the winds of the world throwing debris at me from any which way. I am protected from the small, pesky irritants that are flying at me; annoying me just enough to distraction. The face shield keeps my eyes protected, reduces the distraction, so I can keep focused on the road and enjoy the sights. Putting on my leathers protects my body from the changing winds and weather; helps keep me from feeling the sting of cold and rain. A burdensome task at times, but it is for my own good, Invest in my armor and remember to put it on before the ride. Our saddlebags can only hold so much, and I never need as much as I think I do. Make sure I have the essentials, anything more will just weigh me down and frustrate me as I try to stuff it all in. I can trust those I am with will help me if I don't have what I need, and I will do the same for them. If someone is overloaded, take some of what they can't stuff in their bags and carry it for them, you can be sure they will reciprocate when you are overburdened with your stuff. Pack light and help others when their load is too much to carry. Often we meet other riders along the way. As we pass, most riders will give some sort of nod, wave or acknowledgment. This is an unspoken gesture to each other saying something like, “I get it, I have it running in my veins, too”. An acknowledgment that we have a common thread; we are a part of a ”remnant” on the roads. Occasionally we come across those that will not look our way, will not give that acknowledgment that we share something in common. Most times it is because we don't ride a certain kind of bike; we are not “like” them, not up to their standards. We are judged to be poor attempts at being what they consider true riders, and maybe we are. I like to think that I can enjoy and appreciate the gift of my ride more with a smile, and want to share this joy with other riders. We have met some really nice people, and our meetings happened only because we both appreciate riding. Be nice, life is more enjoyable. The end of the ride brings a strange mix of feelings. Sadness that the ride is over tangles with the comfort that I have arrived home, and can rest. The joy and thrill of the ride The deep sense of security that I have made it home safely lulls me into contentment; I am thankful as I sink into the warmth and peace of protection from the elements. Treacherous roads, chance of rain, cold seeping into my bones, winds stinging my face. All risks I take going on the ride. Warmth of sunshine, witnessing God’s endless creativity in nature, deepening relationships with God and those I love. All absolute unbeatable joys I have going on the ride. More importantly, teaching me more about myself; that there are times I have to adjust to the road and the seasons, take a chance, invest in my armor, trust in my guide and driver, and always be thankful for the gift to ride.... rain or shine. runs through my mind as I struggle with coming to terms that it is done, for now. Let’s ride…….

Some of you will understand, some won't. If you don't, trust me, it doesn't matter.

Do you trust your bike?? If you took it on a 3000 mile ride, do you have confidence that it is in good enough condition to make the trip?? In '07 I took my 24 year old '83VR on a two week trip and had total confidence that it would serve me well. How do you feel about yours??

Wow! Anyone else notice this? We used to have between 2000 & 2500 on the books, but, now only 992. Anyone got an explanation for the drop? Less trust? I found this out by looking to see who might offer a place to stay the night in those areas I might be headed this summer. Just wonderin'.

I have an '86 VR and it needs some TLC. I thought I had a great shop located, but he seems to busy to work on my old bike again. So are there any shops that people trust that work on the VR? I live near Peoria, IL but can go towards Quad Cities, Chicago, INdy, St. Louis. etc. But of course, finding one within short distance of Peoria would be best. Any help appreciated.

I see several sources for the ChatterBox DNR Touring kit at around $85.00. Anyone using this? Seems like an economical way to go if it works OK. The reviews I've looked at seem to say it's OK, but I trust the responses here more than on the sales web sites. Motorcycle Superstore has free shipping right now too.

I am planning or replacing the trans gears in my 83, Muffinman told me to get an 86 or later and its a direct swap. Does anyone have one they would be willing to part with. I can get one on Ebay, but would much rather deal with someone I can trust.

Well I finally found a dealer about 65 miles away that has a 09 model RSV that can be taken for a test ride. Believe he said it was a demo that they purchased from another dealership when it closed down. Hope to take it for a spin this week. It's a shame my local dealership dosen't want anything to do with the Ventures - but then again its probually for the best since I wouldn't trust them to work on a lawn mower. Maybe if all works out well there will be one sitting the garage this summer!

Hey Venture Riders My 88 VR is in the shop with a faulty CDI that needs replacement. I have hit up ebay and a few other sites, found one but not sure about how often the CDI's go out on the MK IIs. So I'm weary about buying a used one pulled off a bike that I don't know anything about. Yamaha dealer is about $500 *OUCH* My mechanic is working on trying to find one also. I trust him and what he can find but he and I both agreed that neither one of us can look everywhere. So I'm reaching out to you all for help to get me back on two wheels... Does anyone know of someone or somewhere I could look to find a CDI for a 1988 Venture Royale that's reputable? Thanks for reading guys (and gals) - Chris "The Crimson Knight"

So, I took my clutch basket out today. I was supposed to have had the " I " basket swap but for some reason I don't trust nobody and the swap made no difference in the whine so I took it out to check. Supposedly the basket should have an " I " stamped somewhere on it...? I don't see it on mine. Do any of you have a pic of exactly what is stamped on the back??? Here's pics of mine... is it or is it not an " I " basket??? EDIT: I'll rephrase that... I don't trust the Yamaha dealer but I do trust you guyz !

Don- If you think this is too political or religious in nature. Please delete it. Dave I received an email from my sister in IL. this morning about the NBC poll. The subject matter is whether the phase "In God We Trust" should remain on US currency. I encourage all to vote at: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/ Dave

Ive been dragging my feet on this for a long time, but people want to be able to see your company's web page. Ive in the past been a rider on other peoples sites but think its time for me to have my own. Im curious on the cost to build and host one per year. Where is the best place to trust someone to build one for you. I know Don can probably answer most of these questions for me but would like to hear from all who can help.
