Good morning all, Anybody have any tips or tricks to get the Venture up on the center stand? On my Virago, I just straddle the bike and crush the center stand down as I pull back, that does the trick for the Vgo. I don't think I can do that with the Venture, lol. Thanks in advance. Don

I recently purchased a lowring kit from Baron. I'm fairly short, 5'6", and after riding the bike felt I needed a little better stability. My favorite dealer says I should also lower the front end to equalize the handling. We've tried to find some new springs, but were not successful. He is suggesting we cut the existing springs and that will do the trick. I'm not so sure that's a great idea. How will that effect the steering and ride? Anybody have any experience with this option??

1st gen throttle cable replacement
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 83 VR needs new throttle cables. How much disassembling is required to do it? Do I need to pull the battery and airbox to do it, or is there some slick trick I'm not seeing? Initially, I'm just doing the cables running from the twist grip. Thanks -

While riding some twisties today I went into a right hand turn when I noticed a groundhog in the ditch ahead of me. Watching him I almost ended up in ditch with him!! I know better than that!!! Look where you want to go. Not in the ditch!!! Stupid trick!!! Kicked up a little dust. Hope a rock hit that sucker in the head!! I think he was waving at me!!

Had the bike out today, tried to engage cruise control.. and remembered that there was a quick trick to getting the cruise to stick to the desired speed, without waiting for the system to catch up (lagging).. but erhmm can't remember what it was.. double tap the set button? Double tap the Accel button? Regardless, the shake down cruise went well.. lots of mods and adjustments made to the bike this past winter and the bike performs well, almost like a different bike. But I couldn't get the cruise control to engage properly or stay on.. 3000 rpm at 60 mph in 5th.. with heavy winds.. wondering if that had anything to do with it.. Does anyone remember what that quick set trick was on cruise control? Cheers

Heres something new to me, went to have my new avon venom rear mounted today and the beads were so close together that they couldn't get the beads on the rim and to accept air. make sense?? plus being about 40 degrees didn't help, we even tried the starting fluid trick to no avail. sooooo the tire is now in the garage for a couple days with 3 1/4" blocks spreading the beads apart. never happened before and will never happen again...

I have tried 3 times to list my 1200 xlch custom Sportster in the Other Complete Bikes category, and have failed to get it loaded each time. I have very carefully followed the instructions, but obviously I am missing something important. Is there a trick to this? It all seems so straight forward. (I had no trouble with Craig's list for the same bike.)

I got a nice first ride of the season last weekend. I've been out of town all week but talked to my wife last night and she told me that the ground is covered with snow again now. Cruel trick mother nature...VERY CRUEL TRICK. I'm headed home today but doesn't look like there will be a ride this weekend.
