Is there a 'tech thread' to adjust valves on the first generation bikes? I do see the one for second generation. Is there a shim travel kit around I could share in....even better if there is one around for Canadian members? Thanks.

Americas Challenge has begun... Track the gas balloons here: http://www.balloonfiesta.com/GasTracking/2012/app_map.html You can click on the balloon icons for info on that particular balloon, and use the minus button on the left to zoom out to state level. Some of these balloons travel thousands of miles.....so pilot skill, luck, and winds aloft determine the winner. There are only 5 balloons in the race this year, due to the worldwide shortage of helium, they are flying on hydrogen. Still, it should be fun to see them, if they fly over your area around sunrise or sunset, they are easy to spot. In years past, some of the balloons have made it into the Great Lakes region, although most only travel into Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Nebraska. For general info on the event: http://www.balloonfiesta.com/gas-balloons/america-s-challenge The teams are displayed here: http://www.balloonfiesta.com/gas-balloons/america-s-challenge-2012 Request to moderators: Can you make this thread sticky for a day or two? I doubt it will receive enough replies to keep it active...I could be wrong. Thanks.

We are beginning to think about a travel trailer. No I'm not giving up the bike and I don't plan to tow it around the country. We're thinking about buying one to keep in Florida near Ft. Myers. Basically I would store it somewhere cheap and then drive down and drag it into a park somewhere for 2 weeks to a couple of months at a time. We've thought about condos and and park model mobile homes but we really don't want the upkeep and responsibilities of owning something like that with fees. So we're considering a trailer. Does anyone know about the R-Vision Trail Sport models? I've found a 27ft unit with 1 slideout that seems reasonable, less than $13k. Is this a decent brand and value. At that price I can try it out and if we don't like the trailer life I haven't lost a great deal. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dennis

I stumbled across this Tumleweed Houses website a while ago and really like these tiny houses that have everything a regualar house has except space. BUT, they also make a model to be towed like a trailer for people that like to travel with everything including the kitchen sink. http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/blog/tiny-houses-in-seattle Brian

How much travel should the choke lever have. Mine seems to very short travel distance. It is enough to get it going whenbwarm outside but now that it is in the 40s outside I am having to hold a little throttle to keep idle up until the engine is a little warmed up. Well after years as the lead Automation assembly Tech I have taken a new position as a Service Tech, going through some training and trying to get all my travel perks signed up for before I hit the road. Its a strange feeling changing jobs after 13 years but it feels right.

I'm looking for a compact but comprehensive first aid kit for the Venture. I have one that's just to large 12"X 10"X 3". When my wife and I travel together that kit take up to much room. So what does everyone else have?

Is there such a thing, that puts lights for the brakes/marker in the top box (travel box) ala Goldwing? Also is there a current seat-nut link, I found one in threads that was dead. Thanks

My neighbor and I took a 300 mile ride today and purposely stopped at this memorial rock. The kid paints this rock every year in memory of our Vets. One portion of the rock does not get repainted as it actually has ashes from some veterans in the paint. If you ever travel across I-80 in Iowa - turn south on highway 25 west of Des Moines - and the rock is about a mile south of the interstate on the east side of the road.

I have installed the clutch up grade from PCW racing. It is supposed to be the same kit that you can now get here on VR. I bought my kit before it was available here. During the install I measured all of my plates. A new plate is 3mm (.118 inch) thick, the service manual says that 2.8mm (.110 inch) thick is worn out. All of my discs measured between .116 and .117 thick, the new full disc measured .118. After the install and putting on a few hundred miles of city driving, the clutch still locks up solid with zero slip at any throttle setting at any speed. That is the good part. The bad is, that now I still have about 1/2 inch of free play in the clutch leaver but it goes from full engage to zero engagement in the next 1/4 inch of travel. there is then about 2 inches of remaining travel that does nothing at all. This makes slow maneuvering very difficult, The friction zone is almost nonexistent. I called PCW and they have had some customers report this issue but had no answer. Any ideas as to what I messed up?

Back in 1991 I bought a new, candy ruby red, 1200 sporty from Minnig Cycle Center in Greeley, CO. The sporty was my first brand new bike. It was February and although the weather was cold and looked like snow, I decided to ride the sporty home some 50 miles. All was well until I found myself behind a ratty old travel trailer on a 2 lane road in a no passing zone. I was travelling about 50mph. Leaves, debris and snow floated off the roof of the trailer which I managed to avoid. Moving along I made the mistake of looking at the passing scenery. Just as I focused back on the road, a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood blasted right at me. It had blown off the roof of the travel trailer. I somehow avoided colliding with the plywood, but found myself shooting down the snow covered shoulder nearly out of control. I was ticked. I regained control and sped up to the trailer to alert the moron driver pulling the travel trailer, only to meet a 2nd and a 3rd sheet of plywood! This scared the bejeebies out of me as I wasn't expecting more plywood and I was travelling much faster this time. I hit the shoulder again, only this time it was pea gravel covered in snow. I laid the bike over and this put a softball sized dent in the tank. I was glad to be alive though. I think there are a dozen lessons or more here. To this day I stay back from travel trailers.

I'm in the market for a Travel Cover for my RSV and I'm giving serious thought to buying the Star travel cover (STR-4XYTR-CV-R1). If you have one, would you mind answering a couple of questions? 1) Are the soft (non-scratching) areas for the windshield and trunk areas? 2) Are there grommets at the bottom so that the cover can be secured? Thanks!

When Ramona and I travel I try to book ahead looking for those discount rates for early booking dates. We always look for free wifi, Indoor pool, king size bed, microwave, fridge, etc. Also some of the motel chains serve a really nice breakfast which we enjoy. Having a cracker barrel close is also a plus. Thursday night everything was great except that was the hardest bed I have ever slept on. We both complained of back pain and hit the pain killer early. Which brings me to my question. What motel chains do you recommend for mattress comfort?I mean this was a business class suite but the bed was hard as a rock.Maybe they sleep on rocks in Pennsylvania I don't know?
