Well its for sure the head gasket I pulled the head today and found a gasket that was in bad shape. The heads looked good and the cylinders look good. But I am wondering about the bearings the engine still sounded good but I have no idea of how long it had been drove this way. I did find that they had put stop leak in it so I am sure the PO new about this and thats why he traded it off, Is there a way to test the other head with out pulling it . Orlinhttp://0358/

I read the previous post about this but have a question. A friend of mine is looking at an 08 RSV at a dealership. The original owner traded in the bike so my friend will be the second owner. Does this matter as long as there is warranty left.

I joined because Im really interested in a bike. Mine was just crushed last week in the parking lot. Im looking at this for my upgrade. 1999 Yamaha® XVZ13 ROYAL STAR with 69,000 miles. Has a towing hitch on it, air horns single seat. Guy traded it in for a new Honda touring. Im worried about the miles on these engines. Please enlighten me if this is a great purchase. Price...really low. I dont want to post the link to the sight because I dont want to miss out on this great deal. Under 4k.

Traded the 2003 for a 2009 hold over. The Venture is still one of the best bikes for the price.

Venture owner. While my 08 RSV was in the shop getting the ignition switch replaced, I traded it on a 2007 HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic. My Uncle, who is a huge HD fan, talked me into going by the local HD dealership and ride one. So I did. And I was hooked. I wasn't even thinking about a HD. A GW, yes, but a HD, no. But I'm glad I did. The handling was superb, the ergonomics are great and it feels like a very well built machine. Fuel injection is great. Switch on and press the start button. And guess what, it has a CD player. My RSV had 1 mile on the odometer when I bought it and had nearly 40,000 when I traded. I enjoyed every mile I put on it and plan on doing the same with this HD. I don't plan on abandoning this web site though. I enjoy the forum, met too many good people and plan on making some more "meet and eats". Glenn

wednesday i traded my beloved 86 venture for a 2000 v-star.. (straight up) the 86 was just to heavy for me now that i have lost 240 pounds( and muscle).. the v-star is nothing like my venture.. nooo sirr eeee.. but i sure feel safer cause i can reach the ground and handle it better.. both bikes had 24000 miles..

We just bought this one last week. Traded in our 1999 Suzuki VL1500 on it. This is also the seat I want to replace as I think the back rest part is to steep for me as I am a big man. Well, after 5 years on the RSV, I went to the dark side. Traded my 04 RSV for a 06 Ultra Classic. Please no boo's or hisses. Bought the RSV, it had 1300 miles, yes 1300 miles for $10,000 even. Traded it this week at Harley dealer for $7,000 which I didn't think was bad and picked up the Ultra. Its and 06 with 24,000 miles.

5 years ago my wife and I both owned vmaxes. Our riding styles changed, we do more touring. I traded mine in for a rstd, several years ago my wife went to an 1100 v-star. Well today she traded for a 09 rstd. She's really happy right now, got to go Mark

Our 24 yr old son, Dane, has ridden a YZF for the last 5 years. Some of you know him from the Cody Roundup last year. (He rode 3,000 miles on that little thing out there) anyhoo.....He traded bikes this week and hasn't told his dad yet. He's riding up this weekend to suprise him!! It's a 2010 Honda Sabre. As a mom, I'm glad he traded off the YZF. Even though he's a careful rider.... Here he is on his old bike and here's a pix of his new one! I can't wait to see it in the flesh! Hello all, I just got a 88 1300 Venture Royale and well.. all the gears work fine.. but when I put it into 5th gear it makes noise like something is loose and bouncing around in the gearcase. Is there something common I should know about? or am I going to have to pull the engine apart and rebuild my transmission? I hope not. I just traded two good working hondas for this yamaha. I do have to admit .. this is one nice riding and handling bike.. I also couldnt get the cruise control to work either.. Shawn

Last Saturday I traded the Venture in on an 09 Harley Ultra with ABS. Got a deal I could not pass up. For those of you that love to bash Harley and think ABS is not needed with proper skills I say go ride an 09 and try out the ABS I think you will be quite surprised at how well the bike handles and just how fast it can be stopped.

I know some of you ride Wings but I think you "came" from a Venture so I know you aren't like this but it seems lately the Wing riders I come across seem to have a bit of a "chip on their shoulder". For instance, one of the security guards in the building where I work (a very nice lady but...) rides on her hubby's wing with him and have been riding a wing for many years ... anyway, she sure seems to get "snobbish" whenever I start talking motorcycles with her. "Oh, we tried a Yamaha once...it was terrible!" .. "We never ride in groups!" (yet she showed me pics of a few folks they ride with a lot) ... "oh no...we won't do the Ride for Dad charity run... we already gave to charity and there's too many Harley riders there" ... and so on, and so on... Maybe I'm reading it wrong but her tone, body language, and words are sure giving me those "snobby" vibes (btw, she's older 'n me and is about to celebrate her 45th wedding anniv ... good for them!) On top of that, she can't tell the difference between the 1500 style of Wing and the 1800 style. Showed me a pic of their "old" bike that they traded for a "new" one (pic of that too) and according to her, they traded an 1800 for a 1500 but you couldn't tell her that. (she was adamant that the old one is the new one...geeesh now I'm confused LOL) Well, I'm bored, tired, too warm, and anxious to see the work day end coz starting June 1st, I am off work for an entire month! yyeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh .... (maybe all the above is just my "chit")

Thanks for all the great suggestions folks. Can anyone tell me if the carb sync is covered by the warranty on these bikes. I'm relatively new to the venture world. I traded for this '05 RSVM in August. I traded an '03 Valkyrie for it and my previous ride before the Valk was an '01 Magna. Neither of them had vibration in the rear seat and the wife loved both.

Did I screw up or is it a good trade - not the money - but the difference in the 2 bikes - pros or cons? I traded my 07 RSV with 1.6K miles on it for Kawasaki 1600 Nomad with 6.6K miles on it, + about 50% of my selling price in cash? Any opinions?
