Rode with #1 son to pick up new chair for #2 son from daughter-in-law for Christmas. The chair is nice. BUT THE BOX IT CAME IN IS HUGE. I can't wait for the grandkids to show up in a few days. The best toy is a big box to play in, they're going to have a blast playing with this thing.

Had a great toy run here yesterday. We started with 40 bikes two years ago, got 80 last year and 120 this year. Hoping for 150 next year. Not bad for a small island. Last year we raised $2000 and a truck load of toys for underprivileged kids. I know we did better this year. Got to get a lighter Santa suit though. The one I borrow is heavy duty and it is hot, hot, hot in August.

It all started Friday before last I bought a toy hauler in southern FL and we started a 1700 mile trip to go get it. We planed to take the long way home so I loaded the Harley on my carrier loaded the bed with pots pans bedding ect loaded 3 dogs and headed out. At every fuel stop the motorcycle on the carrier gathered a crowd. We picked up the toy hauler and loaded our thing in it then headed to homestead FL and set up in an rv park. We spent the next couple of days going to key wesy and the everglades, I even got to take the Harley gator hunting. We moved north and spent a couple of days south of Orlando then headed north again. Today we set up in Clayton GA we are going to spend a week here roaming and riding. I think I may like retirement. Not sure if the pics will load or not.

Just a fun little contest for all of you. I picked up a new toy this weekend. Really got it for Eileen as she recently saw one and fell in love with it. I'm going to post a picture or two a day until somebody correctly guesses what it is. The first one to correctly identify the new toy wins a small VentureRider patch and a VentureRider domed decal. So...without further ado, here is the first clue.

Don't worry...unlike SOME people on here, we're keeping the bike too.

http://toyrun.ca/ Heading out to this tomorrow. Went in 2009 and had a great day - warm and tons of bikes. Tomorrow's forecast isn't that warm and a chance of showers so fingers crossed it'll be a good day!!!

At just about the exact same time Taters was picking up her new toy, I was doing the same thing!! Yes, we each knew about both of them. As was stated in the other thread, let the chroming begin... Taters, good luck keeping that black beast looking shiny!

That time of year again. Gearing up for the annual toy run. I am Santa again and leading the run. For anyone interested google Saltspring toy run for info. We have camping, games, beer garden, etc. Lamb roast and music by Auntie Kate. We raised a lot for underprivliged kids last year and this year is looking even better. Sept 3rd is the run. Got groups coming on the 2nd for camping and staying until the 4th.

One morning Santa wakes up to Mrs Santa complaining about his weight. So not wanting to hear it he goes to the toy shop. Walking in the toy shop not a elf working. Well Santa wanting to go on a sled ride to get away, the deer run off. Then an angel walks up and ask where do you want the christmas tree.

For anyone who might be interested you can see pictures of the toy run at www.shutterjunkie.ca That takes you to his facebook site then scan to the toy run montage and click on www.shutterjunkie.ca Proof that santa rides a Venture, and it has to be a second gen so he can make it around the world in one night. I told the kids there that the reindeer were on summer vacation.

Here is our new toy. It's an '01 Aspen Classic. I think I am cut off for a while... http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Image2-1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Image8.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Image4.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Image3-1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Image9.jpg

So, I haven't been on this forum in awhile because I was distracted with the newest toy in the stable.... Compliments of our insane government offering a tax credit for Electric Vehicles, it was "free". I rationalize taking advantage of govt. giveaway by not allowing the government to have the $6500 this would have cost. In other words, it's $6500 they didn't get to waste.... It's super quiet, need to get some fake pipes going! Will do 25mph, which is actually quite fast enough for a golf cart.

Anyone looking for a toy hauler and RV trailer? I thought this would be nice to be able to have the bike inside the trailer when I get somewhere and then just back it out. I stumbled on this repoed one in Kingman AZ on CrankyApe.com. I would like something like this but its too far. http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg=DispSingleItem&ItemNumber=18440 Brian

While browsing Harbor Freight this past w/e, (something I often do - but shouldn't), I bought one of their NonContact Thermometers - http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=96451 I thought among other uses, I could use it on my Venture to make sure all cylinders are firing the same. I have read other posts on here about just this thing. The problem is that THIS one apparently doesn't like chrome. I get temps that are all over the range. One was 424°F, others were around 180°F. So, I tried to point it at the black on the cylinder head as close to the exhaust port as I could get. Which isn't going to give me what I am after. BTW, the bike runs fine, I was just curious. Oh well, it's a nice toy that works otherwise. If you happen to have one, are you having the same problem? Also, after immediately getting the batteries in it, am I the only guy that the first thing I did was point it at my wife's backside? - Like I said, it's a nice toy. craigr

My Sister-in-Law got me hooked up with a guy that quit riding a few years ago and had a motorcycle sitting around that he wanted to get rid of. Was amazed at how great of shape it was in (especially for what I paid for it). Woohoo!! New toy. 1982 Suzuki GS750. About 8000 miles. I suspect it will take 2 days to get it running unless I run into major surprises. RR
