I ran across this and had to laugh. I've had my fun with my GPS and misleading information but this tops it all. You thinks they might have noticed this one a lil sooner? Three Japanese tourists in Australia found themselves in an embarrassing situation after their GPS navigation system lured them down the wrong path. The three students from Tokyo set out to drive to North Stradbroke Island on the Australian coast Thursday morning, and mapped out their path on their GPS system. The road looked clear, at low tide — but the map forgot to show the 9 miles of water and mud between the island and the mainland. As the three drove their rented Hyundai Getz into Moreton Bay, they found the GPS device guiding them from a gravel road into thick mud. They tried to get back to solid ground, but as the tide rose they were forced to abandon their car. Passengers on passing ferries watched in amazement. Noda and her friends made it about 50 yards offshore before they realized they were stranded. A tow truck driver eventually gave them a lift back to the mainland. The students decided not to have the car repaired because of the damage. The car was insured, though Noda will still have to pay about $1,500 for what was not covered.

I think this might be fun .... not sure if it has been done before. Imagine one of your fellow Venturerider buddies is coming to visit for a day, and you are going to take him/her out for a ride. The rules are: near YOUR house total ride no more than 5 hours show them the area, and your favourite roads If we piece them all together, we'll have riding nirvana! Mine is: Out of Dunnville heading towards Lowbanks for the shore ride along to Port Colborne. Show them the optical illusion on the beach. Take Hwy 3 to Fort Erie and now north along Niagara Parkway, passed Millionaires Row. Passed Niagara Falls, getting damp at Tablerock and checking out all the tourists. Just as we get to the town limits of Niagara-on-the-Lake turn left on Rd81 so we can go drop into Chocolate Effects (yum). Take the route passed Niagara College and then through the tunnel under the Welland Canal. Now onto Decew Rd, through Effingham area and then onto Twenty Mile Rd (RR 69). After a short trip down RR 4 its back home in time for supper.

Sam and I will be riding down to Ocean City Md towards the end of this month for a few days. I used to go down there once or twice a year as my ex's parents were from there but it's been 15 years or so. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? We're planning on Asseteague Island for a bit (Sam wants to see the ponies), but mostly lounging on the beach in front of the hotel, which is right on the boardwalk. Friends say Hoopers is a must go to restaurant, as well as Phillips Crab House. But we would be interested in any 'local sights' that few tourists know about.

A couple of us from the Pocono area will be heading down south on Sat. 6/21 to ride the Tail Of The Dragon. We plan on riding it mid week and being tourists around NC Tenn and VA the rest of the time. No solid plans yet, but we will stay out 8 or 9 days.
