I picked up a spare rear rim to try a CT. Went searching today for a tire and it seems that the Kumhos have all dried up. What's the current "hot topic" tire that's available these days? About all I have seen would be the BFG in the right size. TIA, Iz

Just saw this link. Am I reading this ride, a kit to make the trail shorter? Wouldn't this bring the forks in? I really don't know anything about the topic, but I thought you wanted to extend the trail for ease of steering. http://www.ridermagazine.com/output.cfm?id=2733373

Just a huge shout of thanks to Coveralls. They were already a gold member for their past donations to rallies but now they are not only offering two of their covers as prizes at our International Rally at the Hub but they are also offering a discount to any VentureRider member who wishes to order direct from them. See the topic area "Vendors who offer us Discounts" for details. You can see their products at their site but you must call in your order to obtain the discount. Their online system is not setup to calculate the discount. http://www.coveralls.biz/

First I would like to thank everyone for all the help on the few posts I have made. It is really great to have such a wealth of knowledge here.. So Thank you.. Now that I have sucked up a little, has anyone ever mounted an EZ-Pass in the front fairing? If so, did it work? I would like to hide it in the fairing so it is not visible. I look forward to all the great information on this topic.. See a bit more sucking up... I Ok, where ever this little guy came from I just love it!! hehe

OK folks...I had a request that members be allowed to hide certain topic areas from the list of forums. I THINK I finally have a custom modification that allows you to do that. In other words, lets say that you don't want the topic area "Jokes" to show up. You can hide that from the list of forums on the main forum page. To do so, just go to your UserCP and then click on "Edit Options" in the left menu. Scroll down and you should find a box where you can select topic areas to hide and then another box to exclude certain forums from "Get new Posts" and etc.

One of our members suggested that I create a new area for all the '09 International Rally talk. It's a long ways of and they seem to get lost and hard to find after a few days. I have created a new topic area under Rides and Rallies called International Rally and the current discussions have been moved to that area. Thanks.

OK folks, I am pleased to announce that the Motorcycle Superstore is now listed as a preferred vendor under the Vendor who offer us discounts topic area. All VentureRiders will now receive a 10% discount when shopping their store at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com See the post in "Vendors who offer us discounts" for our discount code. Please do not share the code with non-members. I have also made the topic area "Vendors who offer us discounts" a member only area. This was at the request of a couple of the vendors who do offer us discounts. They want to ensure that people using our discounts are indeed Venturerider members. I think that is a fair request. This simply means that you must be logged in to see the messages in that area.

I received an email from Paul Meyers "Newman" asking if a "computer help" topic area would be useful. This was actually also suggested long ago. At the time, I kind of thought that there were enough computer site helps out there and never did anything. The truth is though, we do get quiet a few computer questions here. It's just natural that when you have a club that communicates via a website that computer questions will come up. Whether related to the way something works here or computers in general. We already had an area dedicated to "Tips for using the forum" so I've simply expanded that title to include computer help in general. Paul has offered to help with the questions posted there and I know that we have several other members here who are very good (some even do it for a living) that will jump in and help when needed. With such a great base of knowledge here and people who are willing to help, we may as well do what we can to help each other. So, that topic has been renamed "Computer help and tips for using our site" or something like that. Near the bottom of the main forum page. We get the questions anyway, usually in the Watering Hole, so why not start taking advantage of the area set aside for such things. I'm sure that we can all learn from it.

I have two daughters, one is 6 1/2 and the other is 4. How old should they be to ride as a passenger? I'm thinking at least 8 years old. What is your food for thought on this topic? On the other hand, part of me says never. If something were to happen to them on the back of my motorcycle, I could never live with myself.

Thanks to a great idea by Eck and his willingness to manage it, I am pleased to announce a new topic area dedicated to free or cheap parts for all our bikes. Please visit the area and read the sticky post there by Eck. Please note, it is a read only area in order to keep the parts lists organized. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=101

I am new to this "Post New Thread" thing but for better or worse, here goes. I have just picked up a first generation (88 DUC) with almost 37 K. Runs absolutely perfect in all respect except one. The whinning when decelerating is not really too annoying. It is just that it makes one wonder what could be going on. I also have an 83 TC with almost 50K on it and it has not unusual noises when decelerating. The 88 seems to have the same level and type noise regardless of which gear the bike is in. I have been reading through some of the posted topic and I am totally convinced that most of you have far more expertise concerning the VR's that I. So, any thoughts and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. One procedure I will soon be performing is the drive shaft maintenance posted here. Looking forward to anyone's reply. I often get emails from new members asking how to start a new topic. Even the terminology can be confusing for folks who have never participated in a discussion forum before. It is typically called a new "Thread" but that means new "conversation", "topic", "discussion", etc. So...to start a new thread just choose the area that you want to post to. Examples are "Watering Hole", "General Tech Talk", etc. Click on that topic area and you will see the list of current "threads". At the upper left, just above the list of threads is a blue button that says "New Threads". Click that button and you are on your way. Don
