  1. This is how I fixed my broken windshield bracket tabs on my 2004 RSV. I used a wire tie around the speaker boss and wrapped it around the windshield bracket. i cut a piece of rubber off the windshield bracket so the wire tie would be flush.
  2. Will be picking up my new to me Venture Royale tomorrow and can't wait. I will be bringing it home on a trailer as the weather around here isn't too great yet. What I'm wondering is where is the best place to hook the tie down straps. My other bikes don't have all this bodywork to worry about so they are pretty easy. Any help is appreciated. By the way, it's a 1990.
  3. I was loading my bike and a friend told me not to tighten the tie downs until I was ready to leave which would be two days later, he said it would ruin the shocks. what is your thoughts on this?
  4. I have a 4 ft by 8 ft trailer with 3 ft sides with the back open but braced. I want to install some tie hooks so I can transport my 89 VR if I had to someday. My question is where are the best places to install these hooks?
  5. It looks really interesting and stable but they allude to tie downs and adapters ?? http://liftsandstands.com/
  6. I'm trying to secure the front ties, but the tie down cords from the handle bars are making contact with the clear plastic pieces under the fairing. The anchors on the trailer are not adjustable. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to prevent damage.
  7. I've done sea foam twice and sync'd the carbs, installed new plugs. I rode about 105 miles or so today so next I'm going to pull the plugs to see how they look. OK...so I have the side cases off to do the carb sync and change plugs. I've just received the Plastex kit so I rode with the plastic off while I work on them. Tonight I went for a ride and kept getting a "pricking" feeling to my inner thigh. I thought it might have been a sharp end of a cable tie or a wire twist tie sticking me but after a few checks to see what it could be I realized it was the spark plug wire giving me minor zaps! (both left and right) So...perhaps a stupid question...but does that mean I most certainly need new plug wires? But I'm getting 34 mpg (US) or 6.1 L/100 km or 40.8 miles per Can. gal. and that was at least 3/4 of the time doubled up! SO....I now am thinking my bike is not doing so bad....and that it just isn't the powerhouse that SOME PEOPLE (who shall remain nameless eh Yammer Dan???) is just putting us on about these 1st gens being such an amazing powerhouse!
  8. I want to tie the audio output from a navigation system to the audio system of the motorcycle. It needs to mute the radio when it talks. Since we always use headsets the audio through the headsets is the ideal solution. Essentially, I want it to act like a 3rd mic on the intercom. That way it mutes the radio and we hear it through the headsets. I'm wondering if I can't piggy back it onto one of the headset mics using a circuit similar to the one in the drawing. Sure would appreciate input from the electronics wizards.
  9. Brought the bike home from my BIL's, money is in the bank, picking up certified check tomorrow. The trailer is registered and inspected, and I pimped it out a little already. Have a utility box for jackstands, bottle jack etc. Car has brand new tires on it. Few lose ends to tie up, having a couple of husky members help load the scoot friday and tie it down. Should be prety much set to take off Saturday after I stop the mail, load the luggage, etc. Great weathewr Saturday, rain for Sunday. Hannigan here we come...
  10. I'm hoping maybe someone in here can help me. I just obtained two used telescopic crappie poles. At least I think their called crappie poles anyway. One is a Shakespeare TSP 13, 13' Wonderpole. The other is an older fiberglass 15.5' - 16' pole with no identification on it at all. My question is simple. How the heck do I string them up? I'm assuming I don't just tie the string off on the eye on the tip. I did manage to find some info on stringing up a bamboo pole. It says to tie it around the pole every few feet in case it brakes when I get a big one so I don't lose the fish. But I couldn't find any kind of illustrations or anything. Would any of you happen to be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks, Bill
  11. It seems Eck and Dragonrider could not resist a little bit of hand combat... It was considered a tie!
  12. Just wondering if anyone else would like to meet up Saturday for an informal M&G (as opposed to the formal black tie event) at this years BikeFest in Seaside Oregon. July 17th & 18th.
  13. First off, it seems very strange to be into the 2nd gen tech section!! Any way, I am loking for a good deal on a light bar. Where should I look?? What kind of lights option do I have?? Where should I tie the power from?? Questions, questions...
  14. I purchased a Kuryakyn battery/volt meter and hope to install it this week on top of the triple tree emblem. Has anyone else put one of these on. Where do you tie in electrically so as to get as accurate a reading as possible? Thanks Jim
  15. I have a custom trailer being assembled to enable me to transport my Venture from the frozen north in winter to Florida so I can ride it in the winter. What is the proper method of tying the bike down to the trailer. What should I attach the tie downs to on the bike. If you have any photos of a venture on a trailer showing how it is tied down that would be helpful too.
  16. Can anyone tell me what wires I need to tie into on my 1999 Ultra Clasic to hook up a trailer plug .The plug has a red/ white/ yellow /green and black wire but I do not know what wires on the Harley to tie into as they do not match in color.Any help on this would be a great help. Ron
  17. I traded for a 2008 RSV earlier this year. My old ride had a Autocom system(love it) on it which I like because I can use my cellphone, Sirius, but mainly I had the headset equipped helmets(unfortunately wrong pinset for Yamaha system) which saved me some bucks in the trade. I would like to run the stock Venture audio through the Autocom system, but I don't know if it will work, location of the best tie in and if it would ruin the warranty. Has anybody tried this? I searched through the threads and didn't come up with any solutions. Woody
  18. Just got one...as far as the installation, for those of you that have one, how did you hold it down to the tank? Did you use double sided tape like the stock rubber piece uses? Since back of it is felt I'm thinking that might not hold too well. Or don't tie it down at all? Just wondering...thanks for the info...JR
  19. Well here I am getting ready to go to Eureka Springs and I've got my reservations and am ready to get on the road. We got 3 1/2" rain last night and it looks like more today. With hurricane Ike coming in and not knowing what the weather will be when we come back this weekend I'm gonna have to trailer up. (Is that a good enough excuse?) Anyway, to my question. I haven't trailered before and am having a hard time finding where to put the tie down straps. Do you just go across the tree? Any help will be appreciated. Jerry:doh:
  20. :dancefool:MY PIGGY BACKER XL! Nice lady to work with, she said it would be delivered TOMORROW!!. They have them is stock ready to ship. I also ordered the swivel hitch from Black Tie Accessories. The Piggy Backer has a strange tube and Black Tie makes a special swivel for the Piggy Backer. Is there anything that I need to do before I assembly it? Some have put plywood in the bottom and added eye hooks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  21. I was hoping some of you could share with me the best ways you have found to tie down your Venture. There are times I will have to put it in the back of my pickup. I have made a wheel chock that will sit in the front of the box to keep the front wheel in place. There seems to be no place to attach tie down straps that doesnt interfere with the fairing. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks JR
  22. My wife got me this, but the parts that are supposed to be attached to the gas tank with Velcro don't even come close to the tank. Anyone else find this a problem? The rest of it works fine: the 2 holes line up correctly under the front of the seat, the gas cap hole is fine, although quite a tight fit, & the plastic thingy around the gas cap holds everything down quite well. I didn't remove the rubber piece down the middle of the gas tank. So, at the front of the gas tank, the tuxedo tie sticks out some, but certainly would not be able to attach to the gas tank front. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  23. As I have never trailered my RSMV, my question is where do you place the tie downs on the front of the bike? I have a 5x10 and my wife is wanting to trailer it a distance then spend the weekend riding around the area. (location unknown to date) I have good secure places on the trailer but I have not quite figured out where to place the straps to hold the front. I have vents attached to the front engine guards so I can not tie it there. Any help will be appreciated.
  24. I am having a nightmare and seem to can't wake up.... Do we have any plumbers that I can ask a few questions? I want to PM you so I don't tie up the site. thanks, Dale

    Tank bibs/panels

Hello All, I have been looking around on the internet for tank bibs, I have found a couple I like ,but not sure if they would fit my 06 RSV. Would you all be willing to post photos of yours and where you purchased it. I really like the look of the tuxedo tie (pouch, ostrage braid), but prefer real leather. If I do not see one I like, I may just purchase the tuxedo tie. please post photos of yours and/or where purchased Thank you, Brianwgn
