I have an opportunity to pick up a complete, but damaged 89VR for my 87VR. I started comparing part numbers off OEM parts sites. Thought I'd throw out if any of the experts know how compatible the parts are between the two, would save me great deal of time. Thanks .. Max

I just purchased some Vmax heads to throw on my 83 venture. I am NOT at least for now putting or even looking to put the 1300cc motor in. My question is what would be the best jets (all of them if you know ) to put into my carbs to really wake her up even more without overkilling it. I am willing to throw the cafe style air filters on IF necessary to let her breathe better. ANY insight would help. Thanks in advanced John and Christina

I have been summoned by Coweta County Superior court for jury duty so no work for me today, and maybe a few more this week, get paid by the court, get paid by my employer, not a bad deal. More money to throw at the Venture and getting it back running, maybe some new plastic............can't get safety chrome for these old relics anymore.

Quickstep needs a new leather jacket, so thought we would buy in the states. Does your family owned bike store sell them? He wants the "Brando" style jacket, with no belt on the front, but wants to try it on if he can get one. Just thought if they were coming to MDthey could throw one in the trailer [2XL]?????????????

Two Tennessee mountain men are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it. The first hunter says, "Wow, that's some hole; I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is." The second hunter says," I don't know, let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom." The first hunter says, "There's this old automobile transmission here, give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see". So they pick it up and carry it over, and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and with no hesitation, jump in head first. While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up. "Say there," says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?" The first hunter says, " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin' about a hunert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!" The old farmer said, "That's impossible. I had him chained to a transmission!"

This is my first "big" bike so I figured I need a trailer just to be official! I picked up this Harbor Freight trailer from a guy on CL for $100...Hopefully over the next several months I'll fix it up and customize it...If all goes well, I'll have a good trailer ready for the summer. My plans are to do something "different" and make it a truly custom trailer, not just throw car topper on it and call it good...we will see how much time I have...I'll keep everyone posted along the way if I can. Suggestions and recommendations are always welcome. I have some ideas of the "look" I want, but if you have any neat ideas, throw them out, it might give me more ideas.

If you're like me and have been using the same old scanner for the last 10 or 12 years and the thing works for all you need it... but have upgraded to Vista or Win 7 only to discover your scanner is not supported by either windows or the scanner MFG .... DON'T THROW IT OUT!! I almost did this with not only my own personal scanner but also one here at the office. Then I found this program called VueScan ... http://www.hamrick.com/ It will install drivers for you. At least it did for our old HP scanners. Voila` ... both scanners now work in Windows 7 !!

Not sure if this is the right place but a coworker found a '97 Royal Star and fell in love with it except for one thing--He says there is a loud whine between gears when he is down shifting. I have never heard of this and thought I would throw it out to you guys. He said there is no whine when cruising or when up shifiting only between gears when downshifing.. Should he be concerned?

Wife decided since she has only ridden a few times in the last 2 years (1000 miles or less) we should sell her bike and use the $$ elsewhere. But she did throw in that she will get another in a few years. I am listing in the VR Classifieds.

Are there any Maintenance Days scheduled for Loozeeanner or East Texas for March? I'm at the point where I'm going to need a new set of tires, brakes, and a carb synch done on the scoot. I'd rather pay the labor $$$ to a Member here and learn how to do this rather than throw the $$$$ at a Stealer. Boomer.....who will gladly buy the beer too for anyone willing to help me out.

I really thought that our part of Washington state was pretty good about motorcycles and their drivers. But here is a story where someone riding a bicycle decided to throw his bike into the path of a guy (semi-famous actor) riding a motorcycle. I guess the gene pool is sometimes pretty shallow. http://www.kirotv.com/news/20089924/detail.html

Well it's official. I am now the proud owner of a 2007 Midnight Venture. Thanks to all for your responses when I was looking at price. I now have a 1989 Maroon 1st Gen for sale. She's an awesome bike and like I said before not any where near part out stage. She has 105k on her and ready for a new home. I'm probably going to hit Ebay and Craig's List but I thought I'd throw the new here first. If anyone is interested in an '89 1st Gen feel free to give me a call. 404-323-4094. Thanks again for all the support and I look forward to riding with all of you on my new Black Beauty.

I am going to throw this out there. I am not sure if i will get a response. I am going to become a certified MSF instructor. I will be taking the certification course on the weekend of May 15th, 29th, and June 5th. I live in Dubuque, IA but the course will be in Milwaukee, WI. That's a decent drive for my nighthawk 750. (The bike will be fine, but I'd be pretty sore) I am currently looking to purchase a second Gen, but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to rent their bike. If not I have plenty of other options, I could just throw the nighthawk in the back of my truck too. (Not too bad of an idea, then I could bring the TW200 as a spare...) Just throwing an idea out there. I would be negotiable.

Cleaning out the garage today, took off the YICS and the plastic covers that go over the valve covers last year, just sittin' on the shelf-GOTTA GO! If anybody wants them for postage, PM me. May throw some other stuff on here if I find any. First come, first served, I'll check messages later on. I believe the YICS is still sealed. Dan

Started my 2004 RSV this morning after about 6 weeks of inactivity. It's the middle of winter here and I've been away for 5 weeks, touring the warmer climes of this great country in my tin top. Pulled the choke fully out, gave the throttle a twist, let it rest, hit the starter and the engine popped in to life after about 8 cranks. Let her idle a little to warm up, then when I tried to ease the choke off it wouldn't go. Moves about 1/4" at the most, but does not throw back to fully off. I've poked, pulled and pushed from both sides without over-doing it for fear of bending or breaking something. I GOTTA RIDE! Anybody have any clues? :puzzled: Thanks guys.

I'll ask here first... Anyone interested in a J&M headset for sale? I'd rather see someone here get it but if I don't find someone here, I'll throw it on ebay. Let me know if you are interested and I am flexible on price but be fair ok?

From one of AMA publications. If you think distracted drivers are potentially dangerous, you're right. What's really scary is how many drivers are multi-tasking out there on the road. According to a recent survey from the industry group Network of Employers for Traffic Safety: 10% of drivers have done work-related tasks while driving, either by reviewing notes, talking on the phone or using a computer. 18% have applied makeup while driving. 32% of drivers admit to having read while driving. 39% have tended to children while driving. 51% say they use a cellphone while driving. 70% admit to eating while driving.Once they crash how difficult is it to throw everything on the floor and tell the officer "It was an accident" Be careful out there!
