Good Afternoon everybody if any of you have been following my progress (i assume not) I have been rebuilding an 87 Venture royal and i have hit another snag... I finally got the bike running (by cleaning out 10 pounds of rust from the fuel lines and gas tank) and i am onto testing my cooling system and my temp gauge doesn't move. i tested the thermo switch and its resistance changes with temperature (like it says in the manual) and so i check the back of my gauge and it reads its getting voltage but still nothing so i'm stumped anyone have any ideas? here are some pics of the bike in progress

I am going to replace the thermo switch on my 1989 VR 1300. How big of a job is it to do? Do I need to take the right side of fairing off to get to it? I guess it went bad when the PO had it. It has a toggle switch on the left side of fairing to turn fan on and off. Thanks.

Looking for help on the location of the fan thermo switch. There are three listings in the schemtics (#31,#40,#68). I'm not sure where the location of the fan (item # 31) is. From what I can tell looking at a pictorial drawing for the part location I've found #40, which is for the carb heaters, which is behind the Right cheek panel. Number (#68) looks to be for the ideat light and its location is on the thremostat block. Question is where is #31 located. My fan has never comes on. I ride in very hot weather, but never heard the fan operate. I've been able to figure out the fan works plus the filter by connecting 12 volts to the connectors. So far I've not been able to find the third thermostat #31. Is there anyone out there that can help retain my hair. There are so many errors in the drawings it has become a hunt and peck situation. Any help would be greatly appreashated.

Does anyone have instructions on how to install the thermo switches. Photos would be great. There is a new one that will turn that fan on at 80 degrees. (Thank for that info tx2sturgis) What the other one is for, I don't know but there are 2 switches. Can anyone help with the installation instruction. Thanks
