I know that I will be cooking dinner, as I do every year. I do not have brothers or sisters, so it is me. I am roasting the turkey, making the pumpkin pie, homemade dressing, mashed potatoes, rolls, and possibly green beans. Probably other items that I have not thought of yet. What are you all doing! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day. Let's all be thankful for this past year of riding. Yama Mama:smile5:

Heard about this on the news today, an entire Ice Cream Thanksgiving Dinner. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/ready-scoop-turkey-flavored-ice-cream-video-015056353.html An ice cream store in Arizona is offering some offbeat new flavors for the holiday season, including a turkey-flavored ice cream. Scooptacular owner Nindi Wadhwa tells a local CBS affiliate that his store will also be offering other Thanksgiving-themed flavors, including cranberry, pumpkin pie, sweet potato and sweet corn. "Customers ask what is that? Is that some kind of chocolate? And we tell them, 'No, it's the real deal.'" And Wadhwa means that literally. He and his employees handcraft their own ice cream flavors. And in the case of the Thanksgiving offerings, that means dropping portions of corn and turkey into the mixing batch. "We just wanted to have some fun with it," Wadhwa told CBS. "If you don't want to cook on Thanksgiving Day, you can come here and get it all in ice cream." So, what do the customers think? "It's the only food-flavored ice cream I've ever had," customer Ashley Steele told CBS. "I love it, and my kids love it."

Thought I would share this message I received in a e-mail a few minutes ago..... In October of 1863, just a few months after the bloodiest fighting of the Civil War at the Battle of Gettysburg, President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation setting aside the last Thursday of November “as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise.” His proclamation read in part, “In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict.” We celebrate Thanksgiving again this year with men and women, husband and wives, sons and daughters, engaged in battle and fighting for our freedom, not on the soil of this country but in distant lands far away from their friends, family and loved ones. On this day, set aside for giving thanks, we express our gratitude to the warriors who selflessly serve to protect our country and the American way of life. We express our gratitude to their families, who tirelessly support our Service members while their loved ones serve in harm’s way. And we express gratitude to those caregivers who willingly take on the monumental task of assisting our wounded, ill and injured Service members as they travel their own road to recovery. This holiday season we encourage you to express your own gratitude to our brave men and women in uniform, particularly our wounded warriors. Shake their hands in the airport, take a few minutes to listen to their extraordinary stories. Or, best of all, connect them to employment resources and opportunities that will help facilitate their smooth and productive reintegration to civilian life. We echo the words of President Lincoln when he said, “I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessing, they do also… commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners and sufferers… and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.” A Happy Thanksgiving to All! Boomer....with best wishes and respect to all.

Just saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here a day early. This year and last we have had to celebrate it on a Wed since the Post Office forces its employees to work their holidays. Jean and I are both employees and both are off tue/wed. So, while I have enough seniority to have the day off, poor wife does not. Kids are coming over as well as a few friends tonight at 5. Got a Copelands fried turkey coming soon. I made my world famous creamed potatoes and italian stuffing with sausage. And lets not forget the heavily candied yams coated with melted marshmallows. So, enjoy your Thanksgiving day with family and friends tomorrow, or tonight if thats the case.

For Thanksgiving day, we usually cook a Amish raised turkey of about 20 pounds. When Eileen went to get the turkey this year, they were sold out of the larger birds so she bought two 12 pounders. We decided to cook one in the oven and that I would deep fry the other. They both looked very good but we didn't have that many people for Thanksgiving dinner so put the one that I fried on the table and that ended up being enough. It was completely gone but we never cut the second one. Yesterday was going to be a day of relaxation and then leftovers which I actually enjoy more than the actual Thanksgiving day dinner. Eileen got the second turkey out and set it on the counter. About thirty minutes later, I came down from the bedroom where I had been watching a movie with the intentions of carving the turkey and preparing a big plate of turkey, dressing, all the trimmings. NOTHING BUT FOIL on the counter. The turkey was GONE. The only thing left was a piece of foil on the counter, a piece of foil on the floor and a very content looking 80 lb. dog laying in on the rug and wagging her tail. She is usually very well behave and had NEVER gotten anything off the counter before but I guess a large roasted turkey was just more than she could resist. We have a doggy door and I'm sure that she took it outside to eat because there was no mess at all on the floor. No grease, no juice, nothing. She cleaned up after herself very well. So if one of you could send me just a single turkey sandwich...I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a turkey burger today.

Seems for Thanksgiving I got a gas leak! Yhea me, I was wondering what to do on this one good day off!! Upon starting the bike I find fuel dripping off the front left engine guard up near the wheel. Pulled the tank cannot see anything and believe I finally will have to pull the airbox for the first time and search around the carbs (virgin territory for me)! Any thoughts or experiences with this?!? Could really use some guidance here! Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Nothing profound, no great ground shaking words of wisdom. Just simply Thanksgiving Just over a year ago Lonna and I started this new adventure in our lives. Stayed with Gunboat for just about 6 months before I found work and we got into our new home. Looking back on this new adventure of ours, I see that there is a lot to be thankful for. Times were tough when we 1st got down here and I had doubts on if we were gonna stay. I'm glad that we did and with that said, I know we have a lot to be thankful for. So this Thanksgiving has a bit of a different meaning to it, as you folks here have helped us make Texas our Home....Thank you to all the members here, and the usual suspects that helped us loose our homeless status....and become Texans. May all our members have a blessed Thanksgiving Day

I'm thankful for many things. I could write a book here about all that I have to be thankful for but I'll spare you all because to be honest, much of it would be the same things that you are all thankful for. So, to keep it relevant to VentureRider.org, I'll just say that I'm thankful to each and every single one of you. Even you troublemakers who may not see things 100% the same way that I do, you are still an important and loved part of the family here and if we all agreed on everything, it would get pretty mundane around here. So here's wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you all get to eat so much that you have to be rolled to bed. Let's also remember those in the world who have little to eat and say a special prayer for them and for our men and women in uniform who are serving and away from their families to make this day possible for all of us.

Just want to give out an offer to any of our members (be it here in Texas or any other place close by) that may not have plans for Thanksgiving. Lonna is like a Ninja in the kitchen, she loves to cook the big holiday meals, actually gets put out a bit when she can't do it We have been very blessed this year with work and monies coming in. We have a ham and I will be deep frying a turkey and the fixins will come along for the ride. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come over, I know there will be enough food to feed an army. I very sincerely extend this offer to come to our home and share in Thanksgiving with us. PM me if your interested and I can send you an address

We were planning on taking a ride around a few of the lakes within an hours ride of Regina over the Thanksgiving day weekend, but i had the throttle cable break on Sat. So instead Joanne and I decided that we should take a drive on Sunday as it was a bit over 70f and a great day to be outside. Here are a few pics, and I even found another bike for Rocket to fix in a park beside one of the lakes, lol Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Brian

If the Indians had given the Pilgrims a donkey instead of a turkey, we would all be having a piece of A-$ on Thanksgiving!!....

"Thanks"giving to our troops I think this is an awesome idea, thought I would share! Have a Wonderful Day! Thanksgiving Xerox thanks our Military and so can You If you go to this web site, http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1280.html you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them. This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Thanks for taking to time to support our military!
