My 16 YOA son, Dan, passed his MSF Course this past weekend. He scored 96% on the written and only had one minor mistake on the driving course. He has been driving around town on the little Honda we found. This is going to be great, another rider to DQ! I had a stragne occurance a couple of weeks ago. I rode to the bank to make a deposit for work and a fellow followed me into the parking lot. He approached me and said the he used to ride a Goldwing until he wrecked a couple of years ago. He said that he had some riding gear he would like to sell. Doreen and I went to his house and discovered that he and his wife had two leather jackets, a women's textile jacket (with back, elbow, and shoulder removable padding), womens nylon wind chaps and a pair of men's leather chaps. The bigger leather jacket was too small for me and too large for either Doreen or Dan. The smaller leather jacket fits Dan great. We purchased the the nylon chaps, textile jacket, leather chaps (for me) and the coat for Dan. They were happy to get them to someone who will use them and we were happy to get all this for just $200.00! I know the textile jacket is that much alone when new. Sometimes it is nice that things work out. Usually, for me, I step in the cow pie, this time I was able to step over it. Dave

Don't bother wasting your money on a cooling vest. If you wear anything other than a mesh jacket they are a waste of money. I've tried two now and the one I just tried is being shipped back home. I'm on my 30 day ride and using a textile jacket. The vest is supposed to be a 2 day vest but within an hour I took it off. It was nothing but damp and clammy. No cooling effect whatsoever. I was dying today in the 90 degree weather with the textile but the textile is also waterproof so I'll stick with it. I'm assuming the vest will work with the mesh but not certain as I don't have it with me.

Hope I can get some advice/recommendations on getting high quality chaps for this upcoming season. Prefer leather over kevlar or textile from a safety standpoint. Suggestions? Thanks

Am looking to purchase some sort of textile riding jacket that has lots of vents for air flow and matching textile pants. Any suggested retailers? many do not seem to offer pants in the...shall we say...more "robust" sizes!

Does anyone have either of these? I prefer the lighter weight for summer (have been using my Triumph Summer Jacket) and layer underneath... Have looked at First Gear, Tour Master, Aerostich,....I know this is a personal thing, but have grown accustom to the textile....If anyone has either of these Yamaha jackets, let me know...would like to know comfortability of each while riding.. Thanks. George in VA.
