Last evening I fired up the bike - generally takes a bit to warm up and smooth out. I twist the throttle and it acts like it isn't getting fuel and the tach goes to 0. Let off and it goes back up again. Darn bike acts like it runs on 2 cylinders. Turned around to bring it home. then it starts running just fine - open it up and it takes off like Boomer leaving his woman. Any ideas about what happened?

Someone once said , “Any darn fool can make something complex; it takes a genius to make something simple".. To this arcane expression I would like to add - "yeaa,, but it takes a Flying Fool to make either of them work"!!!

I realize there is another posting about protable cameras like the GoPro...but this little guy takes the cake. It's not really HD or waterproof....but it does seem to work from what I've read from others... Pilot Automotive Dash Cam - Walmart.com david

Starting to get some slipping in 5th gear. The bike has 42,500 miles and it feels like I am riding into a heavy wind. Kinda a pause type feel while at speed. Also when I get on throttle in 5th it rpms up then takes off. But only in top gear. What do you guys think? You know..now that I think about it, I never noticed it until I went from Mobil 20w-50 synthetic to the Mobil Racing 4T 10w-40...could that be an issue? Thanks guys.

This may have been around before but I don't recall it. It's worth the 3 minutes it takes to see it. Dennis.

I have an 83 venture that I still can not get running correctly. Looking for ideas and things to check and how. If I come around corner and accelerate it may “pop” back once or twice and then kick in. Problem seems to gets worse as the bike gets hotter. But is sluggish and “pops” under acceleration then takes off. Notice the problems seem to drop off and the beast has new power at about 3100 RPM. IF you lower the rpms to around 2500 RPM it really loads up. To start it up I seem to have the best luck choking it and then moving the to the right to almost no choke and it will finally kick in. Idle is a little unsteady but not too bad. History 1. Cleaned the carbs a couple of times. Had slider and stuck float this week and there are both fixed. Idle screws are set at 2 turns out, Have also tried 1 ½ turns out. Tried smaller shims and bike run worse so reinstalled original shims in sliders. Rechecked the float levels. 3. Set the valves last year and several were too tight. 4. New plug wires and caps and plugs last year. 6. Have after market TCI using the stock program. about 1 ½ year ago NO MAPP sensor. Basically does the same things with the original TCI in place. 7. Sync;d carbs several times and again last night. Run about 6 inch at 1000RPM . 8. YICS was removed last year. 9. Gas mileage is under 30 MPG. 10. Have spark on all cylinders. 11. Every once in a while running down the road it will stumble but come right back. Thank in advance for the advice

Found this sample Citizenship Test today. Mighty interesting and not as easy as you might think. The 96 question multiple choice takes a few minutes. The correct answer to each is displayed immediately. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2011/0104/Could-you-pass-a-US-citizenship-test/Who-signs-bills

not the speedo ....... (?)
barend posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK, so my '83 has a new noise, I thought maybe the speedo but I pulled the cable and lubed it and it still does it. The "whine" starts pretty much when I start rolling, builds up to a constant level and stays there. It is louder when the bike is cold but still somewhat noticeable when I've ridden 30 miles. Any ideas? I do have an issue with the tach not winding up as it should. It does go up or down but takes about 5 miles to show cruising RPM and will not respond rapidly, even going down, but the thing is electric, so I don't know that would be it?? -
i know i don't have what it takes to ride this........how about you ? [ame=http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/82031764/]Alpine Coaster Video[/ame]

I thought I had a 6 gal tank on my 01 RSV but when it reaches the point where I have to out it on reserve it only takes me 4.5 gals to fill it up. Also what kind of gas mileage do you all get? Thanks

I picked up a long reach phillips screwdriver. Already synch'd two carbs. Anyone else wants to stop by, the cost is free, and I can give you a quick tour of the great river road from Guttenberg to Dubuque, IA. Takes about 5 minutes to synch the carbs and 1 hour to ride on some of the best MC roads in flyover country.

Just yesterday I got on the bike and after about 15-20 min I realized that there wasn't any noise coming out of the headset. Oops forgot to turn on the radio. As soon as I noticed I realized just how much I enjoy riding that it takes me 20 min to realize that all I'm listening to is the sound of the ride. (and yes, I had a smile on my face the entire time.)

I have an old HP Pavaillion computer that the only thing I have done to it is add a memory card. Well, my internet provider Comcast has a free download of Norton antivirus. I decided last night that I would try it and now my computer is really screwed up. It takes about 5 minutes just to download the Comcast homepage. Then, to go on any site, like VR, takes several more minutes. I have rebooted it several times and it does not matter. I am at work now and when I get home I am going to see what I can do with it and am open for any suggestions. I am not very computer literate, so any instructions need to be pretty basic. I need to upgrade the whole computer, but that is not on my budget priority list right now. Thanks for any help. RandyA

An amazing ride report from a 19yo kid who crossed the country on a 76 CB550 Cafe. It takes a while, but it pretty much sums up what the root of riding a motorcycle is all about. [ame=http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296]http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296[/ame]

"Thanks"giving to our troops I think this is an awesome idea, thought I would share! Have a Wonderful Day! Thanksgiving Xerox thanks our Military and so can You If you go to this web site, http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1280.html you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them. This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

My '87 model has 80k on her, and I want to go touring. My #3 cable broke where it goes through the adjuster elbow over the carbs. Should I replace all the cables while I have to wait for new parts anyway? It looks like #3 takes most of the abuse anyway. Also, is there any dealers who may have these cables on hand- most seem to have to order everything!
