Ok I haven't been riding the bike since I fell off a ladder the 1st of last month and broke my hip. Doc says no walking, wheel chair or toe touch walker only. What a pisser. Any how one of my favorite things is taking pictures when riding. So I had the camera along the other day on the return from the Doc's. I got a lot of shots of this guy when we stopped at Starbucks for some coffee. Mike Red Tail Hawk on Light Post

Doing the Tail probably Monday of next week and also the Moonshine 28. Are there any must see areas around there? Going with my in-laws, basically no plans other than those two rides but we have the whole week to play around. Any suggestions?

Who ever picked up one or more of the auxillary tail light harnesses for a TOUR DELUXE , that I sent up to Don for Maint Day please contact me at stevemarilyn@hotmail.com or 386-314-6945. I need to recall the TOUR DELUXE harnesses, due to a major brain fade on my part I have mis pinned the the connectors, they will still work, but the color codes and functions are not correct on the wiring diagram. If you will contact me I will arrange for a replacement unit to be sent to you. This does NOT affect any Venture harnesses only the TOUR DELUXE.

I rode the tail of the dragon yesterday and it was crazy. Way too many idiots with no regard for human life yours or theirs. The tn leo's had 2 units with hand held radar guns working and it didn't faze the speed demons. Wolfie and I pass through today in the pu and saw 1 tn leo with radar two others with a wreck they had the rider lying out on his/her back beside the road. I think that is damn good place to stay away from.

I have never been there. I am planning on maybe a mid to late June weekend trip down. Leave early Friday morning, ride the Tail a few times on Saturday and some of the surrounding scenic roads. Then head back to Michigan early Sunday morning. Any interest in a group thing? If so, I could look for some rooms to book. Let me know your thoughts. Randy

Has anyone changed out their Tail Light for one of the Halogen or Xenarc bulbs? Also, what about changing the turn signals to a brighter bulb that are available. I'm concerned about the heat build up especially in the turn signals, but it's winter in the Northwest and I want all the light possible in the dark and rain. Thanks George:depressed:

So I finally decided to bite the bullet and put LEDs for the '06 RSTD on my list for the fat guy in the red suit. He came through, and became the proud owner of the Custom Dynamics 100 LED tail light and a Turn Signal conversion kit. My need for immediate gratification meant that I installed the tail light first.....and man that thing is bright! My next step, and where my disappointment started, was to try out the turn signals. I'm no Rocket Surgeon, but I figured this was going to be fairly simple. Well, after 30 minutes of trying to figure out why the front LEDs would not fit properly, I tried the rears and found the same problem. They had a diameter about 1/16 of an inch too large. My disappointment drove me to send an email to CD, and I was surprised to get a response on Christmas Day. Although Dave from CD said they should fit, I could find no way they could be mounted without screwing up the weather seal or mounting them cockeyed in the lens. Alas, this morning I shipped them back to CD for a refund and am now looking for alternatives. Anyone else encounter this problem? Alternative sources?

My buddy is making this device that flashes either a light bar or a 20 watt LED that mounts inside your tail light assembly. What do you guys think is more effective? Do you like the idea of having the LED in your tail light or do you prefer a separate flashing light? Thanks, Ray

Greetings all. I have acquired and fitted a Voyager outrider to my 2004 RSV. It is fully wired but now I need to hook it up to the bike. Has a flat 7-pin plug ready to go into a 7-pin socket, the latter needing to be wired to the bike. I had a look at this post by Don http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=503 but it didn't really help me. I've trawled through the site looking for an answer prior to coming up here with my query. Don (and others) is it best to just tap in to the plethora of bullet connectors in the tail light support housing, of would you suggest that I run all the way back to the battery and associated connectors? I'm figuring that given the fact that I need tail light, brake light and both indicators - it's going to make sense to tap into the area of the tail light, where all those things are found. Sorry for being a nuisance, but I'm ready to do the job and just want to be sure. I have the socket, miles of three-strand, five-strand and seven-strand cable - as well as a bucket load of connectors of all shapes and sizes. Love to hear your collective thoughts and/or advice. Cheers. Spear

My wife and I spent a week in Tennessee and had a great time. Left the bike at home but ended up on the Tail of the Dragon. We were at Cades Cove and took a secondary road out of the park and ended up on the Tail of The Dragon as got off the secondary road. I came around a corner and they were taking pictures. So, here's proof that I made it but it wasn't how I visioned it in my dreams!! Maybe next time it will be on a cycle!!!!

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought that this video was kind of neat. Now just think about this. A member recently spent about $200 for an LED upgrade of his rear lighting - tail light and signal lights. Just imagine what this guy must have spent! Anyone out there pull a Piggybacker with their 2nd Gen? I used to have an older model Piggybacker that I pulled with my first 2nd Gen and it had regular bulbs in the tail light. I hooked it up with a Hopkins converter and everything worked great. I just bought a newer Piggybacker to pull with my 05 and it has LED tail lights. I hooked it up with a Hopkins 46155 converter and everything went well, but the flashers and turn signals don't work as expected. I can see a small flicker with the blinker/flasher on, but I figured an extra set of LEDs would light up. The tail lights have a label on the that state 1 wire for tail, 1 for stop turn and 1 for ground. So.....has anyone on here with a newer piggybacker had this issue?

Hi there everyone. My son and I were out for a ride and got pulled over and the cop informed me that i had no tail lights. Good thing is the cop let me go and told me to get them fixed. Ok i will get to the point. I have went over the hole wiring and cannot find a broken wire and also have found out that when I apply the front brake the brake light does not work but the rear does work. Any ideas on what is up. Does the cmu have something to do with the fact that i have all the lights on the bike but now running lights on the back of the bike.

The 5 wire to 4 wire adapter that I installed has been working fine with the H/F LED light kit I put on the H/F tag along, earlier this year. This week end I added red LEDs high on the rear of the trailer for additional tail/turn/brake lights. I also added red and amber LEDs on the corners. They are hooked up with the tail light circuit and work fine. My problem is with the brake/turn circuit. The new red tail/brake/turn LEDs are wired in parallel to the original tail lights. When I turn the ignition on, the low intensity for the original tail lights and the new addition tail lights come on low intensity as they should. If I press either brake pedal, the existing tail lights go to high intensity and the new ones do to. If I turn on either turn signal the proper original turn signal blinks as it is suppose to, but the "added" light does not. If while the turn signal is blinking I press either brake, both original brake lights go to high intensity and the blinking stops, although there is a slight intensity oscillation in both sides. The converter I have is not a "Hoppy" brand. I'm wonder if The additional LEDs have exceeded the capacity of the adapter? I got this one at Ace Hardware. Where have any of you found a "Hoppy"? I need to get this fixed BEFORE Thursday, as that is when we need to head out for Vogel. And if this wasn't enough, while changing the oil this afternoon I noticed an oil drop on the bottom of the rear shock!!!

I'm getting ready to add tail, brake, and turn signals to my Voyager kit. I have the lights (6" oval surface mount LED lights from Custom Dynamics...), and I can get a trailer harness and associated stuff locally. What I need to know is were are the connectors for the rear lights (tail, brake, and turn)? I know the rear turn signals have connectors, I saw a set on evil bay.... What I'd like to do is make up some y adapters so I don't have to butcher the stock harness (I'm kinda funny that way.....). Thanks! Y'All ride safe...

So me and the misses are coming home at dusk and I notice my running lights are not on....Headlight, Tail and Running lights...Brake and Turn are OK... A couple of week ago I wired for a trailer behind the tail light....SOOOOOOOO] Pulled into driveway....Checked the 15amp fuse and it was gone....replaced and all is well...Running lights work again....Got on the beast to move it into the garage and I have to run up on a slightly elevated concrete edge....When I bounced over it..OUT GOES THE RUNNING lights again...by this time its. dark... My though is that my connection in the taillight must have worked loose and it is shorting our....I'll check tomorrow PM after I get home from work. Question..Does this make "electrical guru" sense? Note: Leaving on first long distance trip the first of Sept and HOPE this is all it is.... Long Tall Lynchburg, VA

OK...Finally got a chance to get a short video of the new LED tail light and other LEDs installed from Custom Dynamics. Also added a strobe unit to strobe all LEDs on the back end. Movie is not that good but I think you will get the effect. That LED tail light is so bright when you watch it strobe...you look away and see red spots [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QooBZjPbB78&feature=channel_page]YouTube - Venture Strobe[/ame]

I have had the LED tail lights (from CruiserCustomizing.com)sitting on my desk for several months. I looked at doing the install myself, but chickened out, as I am not the most mechanically minded rider on the road. Then I met Rick through this site. He lives 10 minutes from me. We had a coffee, and he offered to help with the install. So... today we did it. Four and a half hours, including going out for a replacement bulb, as I dropped one, only to find that they do not bounce on concrete. The running lights and signal lights look great, but there is no change when the brake is applied. I can live with that. I will probably get an LED Brake light one day in the future. HUGE thanks to Rick for the use of is tools, garage, lift, and most of all, his knowledge and confidence in tackling this job.
