I'm close to making a deal on a slightly used '09 Tahoe LTZ with the 6.2L (395 HP) engine and 6 speed transmission. I've currently got an '03 Tahoe with the 5.3 and I am used to poor mileage. Will the 6.2 mileage be much less? When I test drove it I checked the trip meter for average MPG and it was a bit higher than the average on my '03. The LTZ is a nice package with lots of buttons. Are there any other issues I should be concerned about. Thanks, Dennis

We made it! what a great trip even without the bear tooth pass. Went for a nice ride from Lipan to San diego by way of Yuma, to Reseda, to Santa Cruz, over to Lake Tahoe, then to Salt lake. on to Rock Springs through Cheyenne down thru Denver across the Raton Pass east to Amarrillo and Witchita Falls back to Lipan. Don't sound like much really rote down like that, but the things we saw and the folks we met, would not trade for it at all. Had a great time. A few wrong turns and such. The Mighty Steed performed flawlessly. The Butler mod to Dawns seat helped her alot but we did need to stop in tahoe and get her a sheepskin pad for her bottom. All in all a great trip. Can't wait for next year!

Yesterday a group of us did what turned out to be a marathon day ride. 350 miles thru Lake Tahoe and the California Sierras. I started Saturday at 0730hrs and finally parked the scoot at 2000hrs. I didn't have a chance to check mpg until tanking up in Tahoe. Between Tahoe and traveling some of the crookedest roads in the US.. I put on a lot of agressive riding...my chicken strips are gone.. Lots of 2nd,3rd, 4th gears. Rarely got into 5th. R's between 3K and 6K. I traveled 153 miles and used 2.8 gallons. 50+ MPG!! The only thing I can figure is it must be the something in the air. The last time I got 50+ was VWIII in Susanville and the Sierras. Most of the time running on the slab at 70 I average around 38-39. Go figure???

Final details about where we are meeting to ride up there are being worked out, but please mark your calendars and stay tuned for another great day on the road - and fun - with the wild and zany characters known as "NorCal VentureRiders". STAY TUNED - AND HOPE EVERYONE FROM NEAR AND FAR CAN MAKE IT.
