Ok, we dodged another bullet. The world as we know it did not end ..... again. We've seen enough of these predictions over our life times to know, or belive, or think it's all hokie as hell. Well I do anyway. I have a good friend that made a small fortune during the Y2K paranoia selling supplies like oil heaters and laterns, bulk canned goods, bulk dried goods, solar systems, water systems and such and even refurbished old style 29 channel CB's and Ham Set ups. And batteries! man he sold tons of batteries! He had even set up with a Federal Firearms License and was able to sell weapons. When I asked him what he had done for his own survival he laughed his butt off. He had cash! What more could you need? I though he was one of the most poorly prepared of all. Now don't get me wrong. I'm no survivalist, not even close to what some people are doing these days. I still got a little Boy Scout left in me and I have always liked the "Be Prepared" mentality. So, let's pretend, that the world as we know it today, has collasped. The global monetary system is gone. Every form or currency is worthless and the base of the system such as gold and silver and worth the same weight in dirt. There are still items to be had, but money means nothing. It's down to trade or barter. So just curious, when the stuff hits that fan, what would you see that you have that is of value to the rest of the world? What can you do? What do you have that will allow you to continue on? What can you contibute to the new world? I read an article a while back that used the term "The New Normal". Something we might all have to consider someday. Now that don't sound so far fetched as the world just ending does it. Just a new "Normal". Forget about why it happend and who caused it. It did and now you need to go forward. So what ya got? Mike

Since I'm tearing down I think now will be the best time to add on things to the bike. It will make for a cleaner install. I was considering putting an alarm system on my Venture, although she will always be garaged. I was considering the the concerns during ride ins & such. What security systems do you have on your 1st gen & what features should I consider having, if any? Are they worth it? Thanks for your input

I saw links to aftermarket slip on and complete exhaust systems. There were sound clip links to listen to. Very interesting, but how about real world performace increases? Has anyone posted results besides sound of the different exhaust systems? HP/ Torque, driveability, heat issues, MPG impact, ease of install, etc.? Thanks. Steve

Good Day As many of you know, from my previous posts and question, I am continually looking to go "WIRELESS" on the bike for communications, audio and CB. Seeing information out, the J&M has included Yamaha wiring harness and "stuff" to make their bluetooth helmet systems work with our bike systems (not everything is Harley or Honda Wings) , has there been any comments, experience or feedback (no jokes here) on their Bluetooth wireless comm system. It is a pricey program, but I am very interested in hearing any comments or experience. I really feel going wireless is the way to go, seeing as technology is moving forward. Many thanks for any comments. Thanks Steve

Wondering if anyone else has had problems with pre-mature H.O. RM Stator failures. Attached pics are of RM Stator installed less than 9 months ago (~10k miles). No warning on the failure... all systems go until voltage dropped to 12V during a PGR ride. Coil resistance measured .1-.3 across the three output wires. I am curious to know what you have experienced with the ABS and/or linked braking systems (either with ABS or without) on other bikes that you have driven (since the RSV does not have linked or ABS brakes). I layed my RSV down after I locked up the rear brake in an emergency situation and posted that thread here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29532.

Most store clerks I have talked with dont really know about GPS. So I could use a little help. I am 72yrs old and up until a small stroke a few yrs back I was fairly compitent with electronics. Now I have some problems...mostly memory. I dont want the super slab, quickest, shortest route to destination. I was wondering if there is a GPS system that can be programmed to give points of interest along the way between destinations? I would like to know if I am going to be passing within a couple of miles of the biggest ball of twine or if there is a scenic route less traveled? Is there a GPS system that offers that or anything close? Any suggestions on GPS Systems and user friendly systems as well would be greatly appreciated.

Do any of you have any experience with the HID lighting systems? Even though I ugraded my headlight on my 83 to an 86 up version, which was a great improvement and have a PIAA bulb, which also helped, I still want more. I am now seeing the HID headlight being offered at a more reasonable price. This appears to be more than just replacing the bulb, but I am not real familiar with the HID system. Anybody got any feedback on this? I know this system has been around on autos for a few years. Also, do any of you know if this system will work with our Computer Monitoring System that our headlight power runs thru. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EFX-H4-MOTORCYCLE-HID-KIT-YAMAHA-86-93-VENTURE-ROYAL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36476QQihZ012QQitemZ220234877551QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Randy

If I have a bluetooth receiver on my helmet, is there anyway to use it with the CB on the Venture? or is the only way to use the Venture systems to wirre in directly.
