I just ran across this listing for a TRAILER BALL #160706290092 on Ebay. Instead of installing a swivel hitch on the trailer tongue, this one's a tilting ball and good, for not one, but any trailer you wish to pull. I used one on the '99RSV to tow the trailer to Cody and back in July. It performed great, and would have forgoten the trailer was there except it kept showing up in the rear view.... It's also about half to a third the cost of a swivel coupler.... which is a good thing. I know a lot of guys will say they don't need no swivel, and that's well and good, but what's it going to hurt to have one just in case you drop the bike?? There's about a day left on the auction and the seller has 5 of them left. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Motorcycle-Trailer-Swivel-Hitch-Ball-GL1800-Goldwing-/00/$(KGrHqEOKkEE25TvNvQkBN5RzrwjcQ~~_12.JPG

So I found this 2009 trailer on CL. It was listed for $225. He took $185. It belonged to a Harley guy that used it a few times a year. http://www.raymondstacy.com/hm.jpg It came with a ball that swings from side to side. I guess this works ok but I was thinking that a swivel hitch like this would be better http://www.raymondstacy.com/sh.jpg The swivel hitch costs almost as much as the trailer. Is it a worthy investment?

I'm looking at this to mount my Magellan Roadmate 3045-MU to my RSV. http://www.mountguys.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RAM-B-149Z-PD2&click=21 Was thinking the standard length (3") would be enough. Wasn't sure if 1) it would mount to the bars with enough clearance for movement and/or 2) once mounted if I could swivel the unit enough on the mount so that I could see it properly. I'd greatly appreciate any advice/suggestions. Bob http://www.mountguys.com/v/vspfiles/photos/RAM-B-149Z-PD2-2.jpg

I know with all the knowledge here that someone can explain this for me. I have a utility trailer I want to modify to pull with my scoot and wanted to know if a swivel hitch is necessary or can I pull with just the standard hitch and ball. It seems that with the trailer on the ball there is enough side to side movement that a swivel is unnecessary but the idea seems right. Any takers? Wayne

has anyone seen or used this hitch before. It look like it might work. http://i4.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/0b/55/fa3d_1.JPG http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gifhttp://i4.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/0b/55/fa3d_0.JPGhttp://i1.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/de/c3/9982_0.JPGhttp://i24.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/0b/55/fc34_0.JPGhttp://i2.ebayimg.com/04/i/001/0b/55/fe1d_0.JPGhttp://i16.ebayimg.com/01/i/001/0b/56/0026_0.JPGhttp://i4.ebayimg.com/02/i/001/0b/56/025b_0.JPG Introducing the new "Lean- Machine" swivel ball hitch for your motorcycle trailer.Brand new never seen before swivel ball hitch. Ball size is 1 7/8. Mount this ball directly on your hitch to allow the same feature you would get from the swivel coupler at a third of the price. The design allows you to use it on more than 1 trailer or let a friend borrow it. The swivel coupler you cannot remove from your trailer. The ball pivots left to right. The unit mounts just like a standard trailer ball. The same way a standard trailer ball does not spin around when you tighten it down, the same with the swivel ball hitch when you tighten the bolt the unit will not spin around. The term swivel may be misleading. I guess the better word would be pivot. The ball is the only part that pivots left to right. The ball does not swivel around, only pivots left to right. I get asked what keeps the ball from flipping left to right while in use in tow. The trailer controls the ball from involuntarily movement. The only way the ball would flop to the right is if your trailer went up on one wheel to the right. Which is almost impossible. The ball is neutral in tow. When your making a right turn, the ball actually does not tilt, your bike does. The ball remains upright at all times, but it allows your bike to lean to the left or right making it alot easier going into turns. George C

I am in dire need of a screw to hold the Venture Royale Logo on the front of my 1986. If anyone has one or more they would part with, please let me know. Also, I am looking for the hex nuts for holding a backrest on the swivel point on the frame.

The PiggyBacker does not have a standard 2x2 tongue. What swivel hitch do you use for this trailer?
-
:dancefool:MY PIGGY BACKER XL! Nice lady to work with, she said it would be delivered TOMORROW!!. They have them is stock ready to ship. I also ordered the swivel hitch from Black Tie Accessories. The Piggy Backer has a strange tube and Black Tie makes a special swivel for the Piggy Backer. Is there anything that I need to do before I assembly it? Some have put plywood in the bottom and added eye hooks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Guys and gals: Looking at the "specs" for the swivel hitch offered by Neosho I see that the insert is a nylon block. Any comments good or bad on this material being used in this situation? Thanks for the feedback.

Opinion time once again guys! I have the Piggy Backer trailer now and all the local guys here tell me I need to install a swivel hitch on it for safety reasons... I have looked at the Bushtech trailers (one of the most expensive trailers on the market) and I see that they use the heim joint connection. Although I see the advantage of the heim joint as far as that there would be literally no play or slap with this setup (tighter connection), it still will only rotate approximately the same distance as the standard ball / fixed hitch connection. Perhaps I am missing something here but, I personally don't see the advantage unless the trailer were to flip. I know that this is a possibility but, seems highly unlikely. I have learned al ot from the people on this site and value you opinions. Thanks, Mark
