Never, ever, ever forget to put your kickstand down, especially when you're parking your 800lb Venture next to your other motorcycle! I got lucky there, at least. I heard plastic cracking and freaked out that both bikes were screwed. The fairing hit the lower fork of the Vulcan and just put some paint on it. Didn't even knock it over. Cracked the fairing pretty good, popped the radio console out, tore loose the screws on left side and f-ed up the left airvent in the fairing. So the glue is drying now, and the bike will look just a little more worse for wear when I get it back together. Anybody have a spare 2-tone brown 85 fairing they want to sell? What a freaking brain cramp. At least I wasn't moving when it struck.

Report out late this afternoon--- blood alcohol level .19 for police officer. Officer involved in fatal crash tested positive for alcohol Posted: Aug 10, 2010 4:24 PM EDT Updated: Aug 10, 2010 6:04 PM EDT http://wthr.images.worldnow.com/images/12957301_BG1.jpgEnlarge this picture http://wthr.images.worldnow.com/images/12957301_BG2.jpgEnlarge this picture Officer David Bisard Indianapolis - The IMPD officer involved last week's fatal crash tested positive for alcohol, Eyewitness News has learned. Investigators from Indianapolis Metro Police are working with the Marion County prosecutor's office on a possible probable cause affidavit concerning the officer who struck a group of motorcycles last Friday, killing one of them. Officer David Bisard, 36, was on an emergency run with lights and sirens activated when he struck two motorcycles at the intersection of East 56th Street and Brendon Way. Officer Bisard was transported to the Methodist Occupational Health Facility from the accident scene. Bisard submitted to a blood draw to test his blood alcohol content, a standard procedure for any officer involved in an accident. Metro Police Chief Paul Ciesielski confirmed to Eyewitness News that Bisard tested positive for alcohol. Eric Wells, 30, was killed in the crash. Two others, Mary Mills, 47, and Kurt Weekly, 44, remain hospitalized after suffering critical injuries. They were among four Defense Finance and Accounting Service employees who had gone out for lunch on motorcycles when they were struck. Since the crash, Mills has been upgraded from critical to serious condition. Weekly remains in critical condition. Wells was laid to rest Tuesday. Sources close to the investigation say accident investigators are working with personnel from the prosecutor's office on a possible probable cause in the case. Meantime, Metro Police Chief Ciesielski reassigned Bisard to administrative duty during their investigation into the deadly crash. Bisard has been involved in five other on-duty accidents in the past eight years. All were considered minor and did not involve injuries. In June 2002, Bisard struck a fence, and in December 2003, he slid into a fence. In January 2004, a suspect's car struck Bisard's squad car. In September 2005, he struck a concrete retaining wall, and in August 2007, a suspect's car hit Bisard's squad car. This story will be updated. PRAIRIESBURG, Iowa -- The Linn County Sheriff's office is investigating a fatal crash in which a motorcyclist was struck by a mattress that flew out of the back of a pickup truck. Police said John Saddler, 73, of Cedar Rapids, was riding his motorcycle near Prairiesburg on Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a mattress that blew out of the bed of a pickup driven by Roger Ockensfels. Saddler, who was wearing a helmet, was knocked off his motorcycle and onto the shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is just unbelievable how many pick-ups do not tie things in the bed down! I see it all the time. Bryan

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'm afraid we have lost another member. After reading a post on another forum, I found it hard to believe but I checked it out by Google search and found this. Condolences to the family.-Jack Greenwich (AP) _ Police say a man who was trying to entertain his family by putting a penny on the tracks has died after being struck by a train in Greenwich. Police say 55 year old David Buffa of Ripley, New York jumped onto the tracks at the Riverside train station Sunday afternoon to place a penny on a track and show his wife and three daughters how it would be flattened by a train. Sgt. John Rizzitelli of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the family members tried to pull Buffa back onto the platform. The Metro-North Railroad train, an express from Stamford to New York City, was traveling at about 75 mph when it struck Buffa. He died immediately. Buffa was a retired police officer from Baltimore, Maryland.
