Tweetie got a little more pinstripping done this week. 2nd picture is without added VMax (Special Edition) Hope this isn't a crime against VMax's !! Jaybird did the VMax addition, he did main stripping at Oberlin MD this year. The man has talent for sure !! Has anyone had any issues on the Tagalong trailer letting water leak in between the top and the tub? Just wondering if I should add some weather stripping around that area where they mate together!

I know this is probably not the right forum, but I wanted to make sure it was seen by many members. So after 17 years of dragging my knees on sportbikes, sometimes on the roads, mostly road-racing, I've decided to trade in my one-piece leathers for a nylon and mesh armored jacket and jeans. I'm ready to stop laying my chin on the tank with my butt in the air, and to start leaning back and enjoying the scenery. On that note, yesterday I purchased a 1985 basket case Venture for less than $1G. It only has 32K km (about 20K miles), though I'm unsure if the second gear problem has been addressed. I've done some work on my bikes over the years, but nothing like the project I'm now addressing. My neighbour is going to help me, we plan on stripping the bike to the frame and rebuilding from there. Being a former racer, I already have one mod in mind - the Vmax heads, cams, and valve train. You can bet I will be posting numerous questions. Any suggestions for brake upgrades? I've read some have used the R1 setup. Suspension? Anyway, photos to be posted soon and wish me luck!

Hi Don, I recall you mentioning that there is going to be someone at your MD doing pinstripping, is there a list I should get on to get some stripping touch-up work done?

Stripping a 99 venture royale
RedRaptor22 posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I was gifted a 99 venture royale a few weeks ago by my wifes uncle and intended to just get it running and titled for two up riding since the Sv is'nt physically big enough to do it comfortably, but since I lost my job I have'nt the funds to do so and I really prefer minimalistic bikes I was thinking about stripping it naked to fund the repairs. So here are my questions, are the guages sealed well enough on the back side to use mounted to bars rather than buying a whole new tank and guages from a tour deluxe? Also has anyone removed the big huge air cleaners and radiator shrouds without the tank and airbox from a tour deluxe? Has anyone tried tucking some pod filters inside the steering head covers? I'm hoping to be able to fund this conversion by selling the parts already on the bike since I currently have no income, Thats what I did when I went naked and upgraded to a gsxr front end on the SV, can it be done cleanly with the venture? -

Been home a couple weeks, and with the nicer weather, decided it was time to get the second gear issue taken care of before riding season got into full swing. Spent yesterday afternoon stripping the scoot and hauling out the power pack. Then spent a couple hours in the garage stripping the power pack down, and cleaning the parts. When I had the drive shaft in the parts bath, after I'd gotten all the old grease off her, something didn't quite look right. Under closer inspection, I found that the teeth on the rear of the shaft looked like an ol' Inuit women's smile, half of the teeth were gone. It looks like every tooth is half worn out. So now I'm in the hunt for a replacement drive shaft. Will check with the local cycle salvage yards, but thought I'd post with the real experts and see if anyone has a spare that they'd let go cheap. 84 Venture Royale. Ozzie
