I just bought this chrome radiator grill from ebay. It cleaned up nicely. Just one thing, the bottom left corner is bent in and there are some hairline stress lines on the chrome. You can't feel the stress lines. There are two very small spots on the curved edge part where the chrome has chipped. On the back side you can see and feel where the chrome has buckled. I want to bent it back out but am concerned about the chrome. Being that it is on the bottom one probably can't see the bend and so I could just leave it bent. I've included 3 pictures. 1) Good Right side, 2) Bent Left side, 3) Hairline Stress lines. The camera seemed to have enhanced the stress lines more than it really looks. I've not rebent chrome pieces myself and so open to advise. Is there something one should put on the shipped chrome to prevent it from gettnig worst. Also I believe there is supposed to be a "V" Venture Emblem top center. Where can one get them?

Well the time has come and I am going to give up being a OTR owner operator. I will be leaving Thur. to take my lease truck back to Mn. and turn it in. I landed a dedicated run here 1 mile from the house home every night and no weekends. It will end up about 11 hours a day and $975.00 a week I think it was a good deal so I jumped on it. LESS STRESS. :dancefool:

I hear it more and more today that STRESS is now the nations number 1 killer. I think most of us can say our stress levels are elevated compared to years gone by. People in my state work for some of the lowest wage averages nationwide, have farther to drive to work, and little time for exercise. It's a wonderful place to visit or retire in the country but making ends meet is tough. I'm saddened by todays research findings but facts are facts. Riding the venture is good therapy but crossing that creek creates more stress then I like. Here is part of the article. September 11, 2008 W.Va. No. 1 for stress, Cambridge study says Link found between anxiety, poor health Are West Virginians stressed to the max? By Eric Eyre Staff writer Are West Virginians stressed to the max? Apparently so, according to a study released Wednesday. West Virginia is home to the highest percentage of stressed-out people in the United States, research from the University of Cambridge suggests. West Virginians are more anxious, impulsive and stressed than residents of any other state - even New York, which ranked third - according to the study. "I've only driven through West Virginia, but it did surprise me that West Virginia was No. 1," said Dr. Jason Rentfrow, the study's author and a social and political science lecturer at Cambridge in England. "It didn't surprise me that the mid-Atlantic states were high. It may be that neuroticism is high in some states for different reasons." The reasons for West Virginia's high score: Researchers found a connection between stress and poor health. In West Virginia, people exercise less. Heart disease and cancer rates are sky-high. Life spans are shorter than just about anywhere else. West Virginians also were less likely to go out and spend time with friends. Entertainment and the arts don't flourish in stressed-out states, according to the study. "Obviously, it's not as simple as saying that a person is guaranteed to be more anxious if they come from West Virginia ... but we did find pretty clear signs that there are meaningful differences in the personalities of people living in different areas of the U.S.," Rentfrow said. Rentfrow and fellow researchers used the results of more than 500,000 surveys to create a "personality map" of the U.S., showing different types of people are more likely to live in different parts of the country. I'll be camping again this weekend. NO PHONES

This is a repeat of a reply I offered to a sad soul and thought it to be important enough to post a new thread so that everyone might benefit. This doesn't have to happen. Support the flat sided filler spout with a 16mm open wrench and turn against the 16 with a 14mm on the plug's hex head. That way you are neutralizing the stress placed on the thin sides of the pot metal fluid reservoir. Replace the plug with a brass or nylon washer and just snug it down. End of story.

I've had this shield on my bike for about a year and a half... it has VERY few miles on it, mostly just lightly covered in the garage but after I uncovered it this spring, I see stress cracks all across the viewing area. http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/pp-windshield.jpg Anybody else have this problem? This is a Lexan piece that ships FLAT and you BEND it into shape... it's much wider and taller I REALLY like it... but oh, those lines...!!! The manufacturer thinks it may just a bad "batch" that the piece was made from...

Hi to all, Well, after looking at tons of pictures and spending hours driving to look at bikes I finally settled on one. I will be flying out from San Antonio Tx. to Richmond Va. to get the new baby. It is a 1987 VR dressed out in cream and gold. 41K miles and ready to roll. It even has the Venture Line floorboards. I leave Nov. the 3rd and hopefully ride out for home on the afternoon of the 4th. Mapquest says 1550 miles. That should shake out the cobwebs and dump the stress. Once home I'm sure the work will begin. Checking all those little quirks that the 1st gens. seem to have. Thanks to all of the posts here I should be ready. I attached the cycletrader picture. Bet I have a few more by the time I get home. Lonestarmedic
