It's 3 in the morning and there's still a dozen people on the board. Looks like I'm not the only one with strange sleep habits.

With all the white stuff flying around here, I thought I would take this opprotunity to save some of my LP albums I collected in the 60s and 70s to my computer. These records have been in storage for 30 years. This is good stuff. Been looking forward to this for quite some time now because I have songs by artists you don't ever hear any more. Drug out my old player, found some adapters and the software, ready to begin..... For some strange reason none of those songs sound quite as good as I remember them sounding. And I realized why there are a few artists you never hear any more. Really disapointing. A few of the songs brought back great memories, but the rest.......

Weird rear tire wear
jimmyenglish posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Being a poor person I always buy the cheapest tires. Overall I've had decent success with all of them. This last rear, however, has demonstrated a very strange wear pattern. It is a Shinko Tourmaster. I have about 8k or so on it. I already have a replacement but when checking it the other day I noticed one side of the tire had say slightly less than 1/8' and the other side, about 180 degrees away, was bald. What the hell? I've never seen such a thing! I could only assume it's because it's a cheap, shi tty tire. It's always ridden fine even at sustained high speed. Thought this was a real strange wear pattern and curious if anyone else has experienced this. Cheers! -
A couple of strange birds, led by a parrot flew in today........

Hey guys, I'm doing a whole lot of riding on my Venture and enjoying every minute of it.. wow.. what a fantastic bike.. I am searching for a GREAT touring helmet.. one that will easily and nicely accept comms, comfortable, quiet and lightweight.. The 3/4 helmet I currently use places the speakers too high up into the helmet so that they are sitting above your ears.. weird setup.. I can't wear a full face or modular (full face composite) type helmets due to the fact that last year's reconstructive surgery left me with my chin so far forward that I can't wear those anymore.. so strange.. (but I'm not strange looking, honest) Any recommendations from thems who rides a lot? The local shops only seem to stock the same junk helmets that don't seem to fit or lack the nice touches a person wants for long range riding.. ya know? Cheers

:soapbox:My stupid arsed drunken neighbor crashed into me and scoot last night... ON A FREAKIN MOPED OF ALL THINGS! Got three nice scratches on my right side bag lid. All the way to the plastic. But heres the strange part....I did not break my foot off in his...well, you get where I was going with that. I was miffed to say the least, but he is still breathing.

My 2007 Venture with 18,000 miles has developed a strange noise. Sounds like its coming from the motor. Not very loud. 5 or 6 times then quite, and then 5 or 6 times then quite, etc. The noise is a lite knock. Clutch in or out. When I raise the idle speed it's hard to hear, but I don't know if it's gone. At first I thought maybe a fuel pump noise, half clogged filter? I going to take it to a Dealer tomorrow, but I thought maybe someone else has had this.

I was listening to the national Weather on CBC radio this morning and heard a strange statement or two. The first was that my city Of Regina SK. Canada was colder this morning than the temp at the north pole. Something is really messed up with a weather pattern when I am in a minus 33c deepfreeze and the north pole is only minus 24c. The other fact that surprised me that it looks like this year will be the first year since 1971 that Canadians from east coast to west coast will be having a snow on-the-ground White Christmas. I figured that Canada was snowy around Christmas a LOT more often than that. CMON GLOBAL WARMING!!!!! Brian

Last Friday, I got together with Rob and Charlie in Mississauga, and did my 2nd oil change, and synch'd my carbs. With the oil, we changed both oil and filter. I put in the Yamalube 20/50. The 3 of us checked the oil level, started the bike ran it, let the oil settle and left it at halfway on the sight glass. Very strange, I checked the level today with the bike level again, and now the oil is full on the sight glass. We put in 3.2 litres, as an estimate from the jug. Where the heck did the extra oil come from? We fully drained the crankcase, and removed filter. I don't see any oil dripping, but how could it be more full without adding any oil? Just one of those unexplained mysteries I guess.

I installed Avon tires today and decided to check the splines on the drive shaft,.. There was a little grease in there, but I stuffed some moly on for insurance. I installed the pumpkin back on as per bulletin and finished putting everything back together. Once off the lift I went to put the bike in gear and heard a strange crunch/clank noise.. bike stalled. I tried repositioning the pumpkin a number of times now and got the rear diff lined up good.. but here's the strange thing.. I can spin the rear tire even if the bike is in gear. I've been reading all the posts here and am thinking that the shaft isn't pushed into the tube all the way.. When I push the drive shaft into the tube is it suppose to seat and not turn? I can't get it to mesh with anything,.. it sort of spins. Do I need to pop the rubber boot off the top of the drive shaft tube (if I can find it) and get the drive shaft to mesh with the gears using the coat hanger hook trick.. ???

I had one just like her. I bought it new off the showroom floor for $1995 in 79. Sold it when I found mamamo in 81. I couldn't afford them both so had to let one go. A man does some strange things at times.I bought my 84 venture 24 years later.

Looking for some help with a strange noise I heard this afternoon on the way home from work. It sounded like metal grinding or a bearing spinning. At the same time I heard the noise the bike pulled to the left and slowed down. I did not hear the noise with just the bike running so I think it is coming from the wheels or drive train not the engine. Does anyone know what a failed front wheel bearing might sound like? Any thoughs? I checked the front wheel for side to side play and there was none. I put the bike on the center stand and ran the back wheel up to speed but I could not duplicate the problem. Any and all thoughts would be appreaciated.
