I'm planning on getting a 1986-1993 Venture.I used to ride a 2005 HD road king.Does anyone know how they would compare top heavy wise.I was use to the road king but had to be careful when riding double and stopping on steep inclines. Also how about the handling.I want a bike that is happy in the mountain curves.

I've done numerous searches but much to my surprise I can't seem to find much on the actual fuel range of the RSTD. I realize it will vary depending on a number of issues but I'm trying to get an idea. I always seem to be stopping for gas while on a trip but maybe it's the nature of the beast. Anyway, on a full tank of gas, how far can you go. thanks Greg

Here I am minding my own business...attending to my summer vacation plans...traveling hither and yon in my cage...on this particular trip I'm wandering to the upper peninsula in the lovely state of Michigan when suddenly I happened upon this couple... However, stopping to interact with them (you know, save a damsel in distress) was a big mistake and just cost me a lot of grief... [ame=http://youtu.be/lV85Qqj1j_c]http://youtu.be/lV85Qqj1j_c[/ame]

Hello Everyone: Several months ago I offered overnight lodging for anyone stopping in Western Nebraska on their way out to the Cody rally. "Tom" and Debby indicated they might take me up on my offer for Friday night July 22nd. I swear someone else replied to me about Saturday July 23rd, but damn if I can remember who it was? (Getting old I guess?) I looked through all of my past PM messages and cannot find anything. If someone reads this post and has made plans to stop in Scottsbluff, Ne on the way to Cody please contact me and jog my memory. Thanks in advance.

My wife and I are headed out to Virginia from the Orlando area in a few weeks. We're hoping to see parts of Virginia, West Virgina, Penn and Kentucky before stopping in Atlanta to see the kids and grandkids. Anyone have any info on things to see along the way?

We are loking for people to ride with. We are leaving Arcade Saturday morning and heading for Erie Pa via 86. We will be taking I71 to Columbus and then I70. We plan on stopping somewhere around Columbus for the nite. Anybody want to hook up along the way or start from here??

I have a 2005 Silverado Z71 - A few days ago I noticed that the Speedo wasn't working. I immediately went to the odometer and it was registering mileage. The next time I drove the truck, it was working (speedo) then while driving it quit. Since the initial episode I've noticed it starting and stopping with no indication of trouble. It just comes and goes when ever - I'm guessing that the unit is electrical and not mechanical like they used to be - Anybody have this problem ? or have a solution ? Thanks

Hi Everyone..., I have always shiffed down through the gears when stopping. I was looking through my manual over the weekend and I'm sure I read that you down shift through the gears all the same time just before comming to a stop. What do everyone else do? Newfie Bill Paradise, NL 99 RSV

I just took the 86 for its maiden run for 08. I had ordered new diaphragms when Cliffno350 offered to group buy them.I installed them and since I was tearing into it anyway I lubed the throttle cables too. What a difference! It took my 86 from a cumbersome, wheel shimmying before stopping, boat handling bike to a smooth, peppy, quick handling fun to ride machine! No kidding, I used to have to take up most of 2 lanes in order to do a u-turn. Now it handles that job with room to spare. It seems to have taken the shimmy before stopping away. YAHOO! Either that or I just didn't feel it as bad what with the smile on my face. All this on last years gas. So far the best improvement on this Yamaha bar none.

Wednesday was a perfect 78 degress here in Louisville, KY and beautiful, Deb and I took a vacation day and played hookie. The Kid was in school, all the riding buddies were working so we had a little motorcycle date day. It was very nice. We only put about 150 miles on em, as were stopping often and just hanging out. Here are a few pics and scenes from the day, thanks for indulging my photo habit! http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080424_22.jpg?t=1209251180 http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080424_33.jpg?t=1209251204 http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080424_43.jpg?t=1209251225 http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080425_9.jpg?t=1209251727 http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080425_31.jpg?t=1209251754 http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/20080424_9.jpg?t=1209251787 All the best one's of course inlcude my beautiful bride

I’ve never had a flat tire while driving and was wondering from those of you who have, how did the bike handled? Front, rear, did you loose all the air, how fast you were going, stopping, that sort of thing. Hopefully it will only be something that I read about!

I had posted up a responce on a thread in the watering hole about stopping a crack in your windshield. As far as stopping the crack, you need to get a very tiny drill bit and locate the end of the crack. Take the drill and drill a small hole through the exact point at where the crack ends. In the service we did this to aircraft (called stopdrilling) It relieves the pressure on the crack and stops it from traveling more.

I have not researched brake pads for a few years. Anybody have any comments as to which brand might be the highest quality as far as stopping power ? Its time to order a new set just to have them on hand.
