When i got my 85 I thought the seat was dirty. It also was sticky to the touch on the passenger seat. Its already stained a pair of the girlfriends pants. I've tried cleaning it with everything i can think of . So far Windex and nail polish remove have worked BUT Now I'm wondering am i taking a color layer off the top of the seat or am i removing some sort of foreign goo that has been deposited by the prevoius owner in cleaning/treating the seat. The sticky layer can be "rolled" with the finger like glue on a sticker. I read on another site that Armor All might be the culprit If so is there a way to remove it or do i have a seat that needs replacing?

First off, Thank you to the person that sent my a front brake house. Can't remember who did it, but I'm very grateful! If you look at the pic below I put an arrow at the carb that is sticky. I need some kind of guide to get it to run. Anyone has a how to take the carbs out to clean them or any other ideas. Thank you in advance

Got the bike running today...thanks dingy . It has a couple of issues, though. It leaks more oil than the Exxon Valdez, it's got a water leak that I think is a bad hose, and 1 carb slide is a little sticky. But it's firing on all 4

On my 01 venture I want to put our rain suits in the lids. What is a good way to do it? I tried sticky velcro but it peels off after a while then I have to clean the glue off and do it again. Thanks Richie R

The pictures below are of the passenger seat and upper corners of the backrest. I showed some members at the Henry Ford M&E and the thought was it could be the dye or glue seeping through. It feels like tree sap, very sticky when the sun is out. The light colored spots are where I've tried Goo Gone on it, the real dark areas are new spots. It started out just on one corner of the seat and now pretty much spread across the entire rear of the seat. (the white spots are fibers from a towel I put on the seat so my Daughter didn't stick to the seat) Last Sunday at the M&E the Right upper corner was just starting to get sticky. Yesterday the Left corner started and is a mess today. When the sun is out it gets VERY sticky and will stick on your fingers. When cool at night barely sticky at all. Whats going on here, any guesses? First two pictures is of the seat, next one is Left upper corner (just started) last one is of right upper corner, you can see how much color has came out of the seat using Goo Gone in the last picture. Goo Gone doesn't do anything to get the sticky gone, just seems to take color away.

ATTN: Motor Rebuilders
bongobobny posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just purchased a 4 hour DVD all about rebuilding the 1200/1300 engine. It is based on the VMAX engine but as you know it is the same basic motor. Should anyone want to borrow it I will make it available for shipping costs. Don, maybe you could make this a sticky... -
While changing my back tire at MD, I took the time to grease my drive shaft spline. Good thing as it was dry. Now when I stop, it seams like my 88VR slips into neutral from 1st gear more easily than it did before. Before I greased the spline, it seemed to be more "sticky" when shifting into neutral. So, is this just my imagination or could a dry spline cause "sticky" shifting into neutral.

for those that are not ready to register yet, how about checking in the 2009 rally attendence poll and let us know your status on there. this would greatly help us in getting our count. could one of the moderators, or don move that to a sticky to make it easy to find. the poll is listed under venturerider polls. we could also use a sticky on the children that are coming poll so we can figure the childrens menu, and gunboat will know how many to expect for the games. bill

I bought my 83 about two months ago, after it's first washing I armor-all'ed the seat and that is when it started to happen. The seat started kinda turning gooey. It's like the first layer is disolving. My bike is gold with a brown seat so what I need is a good used seat or information on where to get a stock cover to replace the sticky one.

From the letter I received from Avon, I just came back from putting 42 psi front and 48 psi rear. DO IT!!! That's what I was looking for when I bought the Avon's in the first place. High speed much improved and sticky in the twisties. Try it, you'll like it.

Thanks to a great idea by Eck and his willingness to manage it, I am pleased to announce a new topic area dedicated to free or cheap parts for all our bikes. Please visit the area and read the sticky post there by Eck. Please note, it is a read only area in order to keep the parts lists organized. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=101
