Just watched Motoring 2012 on TSN and they were talking about Ethanol fuel in carburated engines. Ethanol causes deterioration of rubber carb parts. Any ideas as to which gas stations sell regular gas with no ethanol in Canada?? Learned something new today!!

Ok, I have googled it and couldn't find an answer. What I am looking for is a list (or database) of what brands of gasoline that are in each U. S. state. In other words, Oklahoma has 1500 Phillips 66 stations, 800 Citgo stations and etc. Does anyone know of a list, database, or POI of this? Thanks, Wally

Has anyone had a problem with their radio not wanting to search for channels manually? Mine worked when I bought it last month, now when I hold the up/down button for longer than 2 seconds it just goes to the next preset station instead of searching for stations. Thanks Mongo

How do you set the buttons on the radio on a 1985 Venture royal to local stations? Mike Smegielski Waterbury, CT

I know some of this may be repetitive and I apologize. I talked to a gas hauler today during an inspection and asked if he knew which service stations gets the ethanol and which ones don't. He told me that when a driver loads the fuel he has to enter if he wants the ethanol blend or not. Some stations want it and some don't. From what he told me (take it with a grain of salt) the stations get a tax break on the ethanol they buy versus pure gas. He also mentioned to what Freebird had stated before on another post about how it will prematurely eat up rubber fuel lines especially on motorcycles. They have to preplace rubber seals in their trailers pretty regularly due to it. I noticed that when my bike was in the shop week before last for the valve adjustment, they had replaced the fuel line to the filter (now I know why). But, basically the fuel drivers know who is selling it and who isn't. I'm not sure how accurate pure-gas.org is ($ changes people's minds). I'd rather know from the guy that just loaded it. Hope this helps some of you guys out and maybe its been addressed before...

Says in the specs that it does not include Where Am I which allows you to find closest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, etc.... Can't believe something that cost so much back in the day you wouldn't be able to find a gas station if you needed to. It might not be part of Where Am I, but I would think you could find a gas station. Anyone with these models confirm the information? Thanks

Hi everyone, in 2007 I asked if anyone could help me with a radio problem on my US spec RSV over here in the UK http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9716 I did post it on the wrong forum though. This is a reply to my question for the UK riders with US spec RSV's. Problem is UK and US radio frequencies are different, US radios go up in 0.2 MHz steps and UK radios go up in 0.1 MHz steps so many UK stations in between the US ones are unobtainable. You can get 102.3 but not 102.2 you get the idea. I spoke to Clarion and others but they could only suggest that I fit a frequency converter. Easier said than done. I have now managed to buy one on e-bay I could not find any anywhere until last week http://www.yaki.co.uk/mpuk/ (this is the Japanese converter though but it shows the connections etc) they are fairly easy to fit but you need to access the radio under the front fairing behind the headlight to couple the unit between the areal and the radio and power it up with a positive supply. Search for AMERICAN US BAND EXPANDER (FM 0.1 Mhz). They claim to be the only company that makes them in the UK. It works great, loads of UK stations. Only one downside it records 107.2 as 107.3 etc or something like that. But I can live with that. Hope this is some use to someone. Best Wishes. Old Miner.

Well after 3 weeks of fun & sun in FL I have to get back to work... Over the next 10 days I'll be cruisin the FL panhandle, AL, and GA working on ATMs at 70 Chevron stations... I'll be riding my RSMV and pulling my piggybacker trailer with the MAINEAC plates... So if you happen to see a big fat guy messing with the ATM at the local Chevron station stop by and say hello...

One of the many winter projects I have is to fix (Hopefully!) my radio. The Mem light is on constantly, and you can't set any stations. I have to pull the radio apart to see what's up, and to clean it. Any words of wisdom before I start???

My buttons on my raido seem to get stuck now and then more and more often is there anything I can do short of getting a new radio? I can't change raido stations 90% of the time when I want too. Thanks in advance for any advise or help! Mark

I have owned my VR for a long time and I have always had a problem with the radio stations not staying in memory. Granted there are times that I do not ride for long periods of time, so if the battery goes dead I would understand it. However if I don't ride it for several days, I must reprogram the stations. It has been like this since the first time I bought it back in the late 80's. Is this a common problem, and is there a fix for it?

Initially, I didn't think that music was going to be such a big part of my riding (my previous bike had no such ability), but I now wish to better what I have on my '83 VR. It came with the radio/cassette deck, but the latter doesn't function at all. The radio does play, but only on certain stations. Changing between those few stations means pulling over, somewhere, and using a pin to depress within the well where the buttons used to reside. Even then, it is somewhat of a trying situation because the LED panel is with broken visuals, and also very dimly lit. I do have a 30gig Ipod that I would LOVE to use with it, but my unit is a little before such technological gadgetry , which means that it doesn't have the required connecting port. I have wondered, though, if there were some way to 'rig' a hookup for my Ipod, with what my '83 has. Providing that there is no possibility for the above, the next best thing would be a CD player capable of reading MP3 files. I have heard mention of 'marine grade' devices, and wonder how much more they would hit the pocket, over & above their conventional counterparts. Also, what else might I need to 'securely' install a CD player into the same well as the cassette player? Advanced thanks.
