  1. "May God bless and keep you always May your wishes all come true May you always do for others And let others do for you May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung May you stay forever young" Marry Christmas
  2. I just watched a great movie & I swear that a lot of the actors I met at VentureRiders (including me) Meet & Greets were in it. The Hobbit's Dwarfs look just like most of us! By the way, I really liked the movie & thought all of you acted quite well. In fact, you were more behaved than normal.
  3. There will be a poker run/benefit for Lane Goodwin of Beech Grove,Ky. on Sat. Oct. 20th at the Henderson County Fairgrounds in Henderson, Ky. Regestration at 10 am, first bike out at 11 am, last bike in at 2 pm. Approximately 50-60 mi. ride. $15 single or $20 couple, prizes for best and worst hand, all proceeds benefit the Goodwin family. Those of you with a Facebook account can read about Lane at the ( Prayers for Lane Goodwin ) page. His facebook page has over 258,000 likes and the list of people giving him the "two thumbs up for Lane" is amazing, rock stars, country artist, tv and movie stars, and lots of average joe's giving support( he's battling a rare form of cancer only 1 per million kids get, 13 yrs old). Come out and enjoy a nice October Western Ky. ride/benefit and get a blessing in return. All times Central time.
  4. i post in other club rallies about a rally we are having in birmjngham,Al this 2011. anyone is welcome to attend this event. we started it off another forum for the 96-01 standard royal stars, but all are welcome to come. we're riding to little river canyon area and hope to visit barbers museum and race track. check it out, don.
  5. My last rear brake pads lasted forever compared to the originals but they also wore down the rotor. Looking on ebay I saw several off of the original Royal Stars and Royal Star Tour Deluxes. It looks to me like they should work on my Royal Star Venture. Does anybody know that for sure?
  6. Looking for a set of hwy bars that i can put leather covers on to protect from the wind. I have seen a few pics of royals stars with larger bars. But cant find them for retail.
  7. I have two questions concerning the Run For The Wall. First: How many have heard of Run For The Wall? Second: How many are going to go with me next year, 2011? Last year I only saw one Venture and about 4 Road Stars. This year there will be one less R* ,mine, and one more RSV, mine. It would be nice to see a whole contingent of Road Stars and Royal Stars. RFTW really is a great ride and the experiences are irreplaceable. All motorcycles are welcome as well as non-vets. For the west coast rider you will end up on the east coast just in time for the Maintenance Day in Oberlin. The web site is RFTW.ORG. Give it a look see and see if you can fit it into your schedule.
  8. I've got to admit, I'm not a huge fan of TV shows today. Not a lot on that interests me. Honestly.....I gave up on cable long ago and only bought a converter when they dropped the broadcasting. (Under threats from my daughter) I turned the idiot box on the other night and flipped through the channels. Nope.....nuttin worth watching. So.....I got to thinking I can not be the only one that wants to beat the box to death and make some extra room for something useful. Like inhouse parking for my bike. So rather than wreck havoc with a sledge hammer I decided to try to change the programming of what we see. Thought I toss it into the bull pen and see what other folks might want. Dancing with the stars ........ not good. I read an article a while back that a man took a shotgun to his TV during that show. I'm sorry, but I understood that feeling. But then again he pointed the shotgun at his wife also. Again...over the top but hey, I can understand that also. She probably was holding the remote. Now they have spun that off into "Ice Skating with the Stars". Ok. Not working for me either. One of my ideas that I want to summit is this. Let's add a twist to "Ice Skating with the Stars" ok. Pair the professionals ice dancers up the professional hockey players. See where I'm going with this? Make it interesting....add some excitement....throw in a lil danger! I'm thinking this would be a popular show. So anyone have an idea for a new show? (I haven't ridden in two weeks, so forgive me) Mike

  11. What do you use your bike for other than the pleasure rides we all like so much? We all take the weekend ride to meet friends, eat or see the sights. Some of us take our vacations on the bike. But how many of us utilize the bike for something other than a strictly pleasure cruise? Although any time I'm riding it's a pleasure, sometimes its more utility/work oriented. Show us your bike in an other than 'pleasure' situation. 12. I am getting my 96 Royal Star ready for spring and want to sync the carbs. I have read the article in the 2nd generation RSV and Royal Stars but it appears that the location of the adjusting screws are different on the Royal Star than on the bike in the photos. I can see one screw on the left side near the choke knob that I assume is one and two on the right side that are side-by-side. Could someone who is familiar with the Royal Stars confirm whether these are the right screws, I have synced all my other bikes and am familiar with the procedure but would like to confirm that these are the right adjusters. Any information would be appreciated. Doug
  13. What year did the Royal Star's horsepower go from 75 to 95?
  14. I contemplated trading my 99 Venture for a 96 Royal Star many years ago. I rode the 96 for about 20 minutes and it seemed to ride much better than the reports led me to believe. The reports said the bike was underpowered and that forth and fifth gears were way too high. In that short ride I didn't find those to be an issue. I know the 05+ RSTD would be very much like my Venture was in terms of performance. But a older one would fit the budget better. What are the shortfalls of the older Royal Stars from those that have owned them?
  15. I'm investigating new mufflers and it is between the BUBS sleepers or the KhromeWerks slip ons. I don't seem to run into other Royal Stars that have made the switch to compare. Does anyone know a site or sites that have the sounds? Also, Anyone that has experience with both, regarding quality.
  16. You will never look at a shooting star the same again. After viewing this you may understand why some of your wishes do not turn out like you thought they would. P.S. Hope the clip plays! 17. I wanted chrome rider floorboard covers to match my Yamaha Chrome Passenger floorboards but I am too cheap to spend 200+ on the Yamaha's covers. I noticed that Yamaha's covers fit V-Stars, Road Stars, and Royal Stars and Kuryakin only lists the V-Star and Road Star. I decided to take a chance and bought the V-Star covers on ebay for $79.95 shipped and guess what they fit. Here's the guy I bought mine from: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140156430541&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004 For some reason he has the Road Star listings for a little more money but they're the same boards.
  18. I'd like to recommend a couple of books; they are- 1) Proficient Motorcycling, David Hough- Bowtie Press An excellent read for both beginner as well as experienced riders, never a dull moment with this book. I could not put it down! Lots of photos and diagrams, very well laid out with thorough explanations. Very highly recommended! Four stars. 2) More Proficient Motorcycling, David Hough- Bowtie Press Not as good as the first, nevertheless a good read, although without reading the first one a lot is lost. Still all-in-all a very good read. Highly recommended. Three and a half stars. For those of us still held captive in winter's clutches, :bighug:a great way to kill a few evenings.
  19. I want to turn my rear turn signals into running and brakes lights also. I have searched the threads here and have seen information on installing several available options that require splicing. I would like to install a module that is plug n play and do not want to splice if at all possible. I have found these 2 modules(http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=3861) from kuryakyn. They are labeled to fit different years of the V & Road Stars, but seems to me that 1 of them ought to work on the 2nd gen. Has anybody used 1 of these modules? Does anyone have a picture of the wiring harness for the rear lights on a V or Road Star?
  20. I am in the process of ordering parts to repair my 2005 R S T D. I am looking at switching saddlebags. I want to replace the O E M hard bags with the leather covered Royal Star tour classic saddlebags part # STR-4NL73-02-00 These fit the 97-2001 Royal Stars and current Road Stars. I can make some modifications if necessary, but am not as handy as some of you. I thought they might make my bike look a little different. Anyone having experience with these bags please jump in. Thanks in advance.
  21. Guys, I know several of you including myself have been interested in changing our levers to the wide-blade style lever. I had been using the ones from the old Royal Stars but they are no longer offered and were a bit short anyway. The ones I have now are from JC Whitney and work alright but don't look as good as Yamaha's. However I am currently working on a friends 2006 and noticed that the levers are now the nice wide-blade style of the old Royal Stars but longer. But they are only brushed aluminum rather than chrome. I checked the parts fiche and it looks like Yamaha changed to these levers in 2005. The parts numbers are: 1D6-83922-00-00 1D6-83912-00-00 Flatout has them for about $23 each. Just thought I'd mention this as an option for those looking to change theirs out. Rick
