Morning everyone! We just got back from a tour of the Fredricksburg area in the heart of hill country. How would everyone feel about having the Stampede there next fall? There are a couple great places to stay that offer RV, tent, and rooms in the same place. So far, the bookings are pretty open for the weekend of October 9-11. Earlier and we hit Octoberfest. Later we start running into the Luckenbach fall festival. Right now I can find rooms in the $50-$70 range and tent spots in the $10.00 area. I can guarantee great riding and food. Also a bunch of places to shop if one was so inclined. Maggie volunteered to bring the Expedition up for use as a shuttle bus if we pick here. It is about 2 hours from San Antonio by major road and about 3 or so by back roads. About 45min to an hour from the famed Three Sisters farm roads. JB

Need your help again....hubby and I are planning on 12 day bike trip up to Glacier then on to Banff. Yesterday, I emailed a B & B about staying in Banff on July 15th and 16th. I'm able to book rooms, but was told that it's right during Calgary Stampede. Looked it up on their website and it looks like the dates are July 3-12th for the Stampede. Just wondering if we are crazy coming up there as we are not big crowd people. I know July and August are busy tourist times anyway for the Banff area....will it be nuts up there still on the 15th and 16th? Thanks for any help!

Greetings to all- The 1st Annual Texas Venture Stampede is over and all that is left are the memories and the photos. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the weekend. We had beautiful weather and a great place to ride. The Texas Railroad was interesting. I think it would be better suited as a children's activity. The meal Saturday night and the door prizes were great. The local Yamaha dealer ponied up a great stack of goodies. Grand prize was won by Lil'bit. She has a $100.00 gift certificate to River Road for clothing and accessories. The folks from Canada received the longest distance travelled award. The City of Athens provided them 2 keys to the city in honor of their attendance. Our final total was 26 people attending on 21 bikes. I travelled about 1800 miles from Thursday until Sunday night. We occupied 22 rooms at the Quality Inn. Along with our group, there was a Lincoln Continental Collectors Club holding a meet. What a great display of cars. Unfortunately I did not get pictures. I think some of our other members may have. My thanks to Mavrick for his help in putting the Stampede together. I had a blast working with him. And thanks to the sneaky folks who paid my tab at supper Saturday night! I am putting together a CD of all the pictures that I got from folks. Crimson Knight grabbed some short video clips to add to the collection. I will be sending these out in about a week as momentos of the weekend. I need anyone who did not get pictures to me on Saturday night to shoot me a PM. Mavrick and I will be sending certificates of appreciation to all of the places who helped out. Now, the final order of business for the 1st Annual Texas Venture Stampede- All who attended have asked 2 questions- When and where will the 2nd Annual Texas Venture Stampede be held? Give me your input now folks. I am thinking maybe Hill Country and we run the Three Sisters for fall of 2009. http://s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh269/lonestarmedic/Stampede08/ Thanks for the memories JB

So, I was prodded today to update the October 18th Stampede details. I am planning on riding to East Texas this coming weekend to get solid details. I realize I haven't been prolific on the upcoming meet. My job and other obligations have kept me off the road more than I might like. My plans for the labor day weekend went out the window with the lack of parts. The bike is back together and ready to run. And I used the extra time to make a new workbench and set up the Mocha Lair for tearing apart bikes. I hope to leave Friday and drop into Houston for a visit. Then on to East Texas. If anyone is up for a road trip, give me a yell. JB
