I am one of those that is spending Christmas Eve at work (surfing the web) while the rest of my family is eating and laughing and opening presents. But at least I was mean enough to not deliver my stuff ahead of time. All of those that are getting stuff from me will have to wait until I am there.

I decided last week to resign from the US Military Vets MC, and did just that this morning. It was the hardest thing I've done in the last 10 years. I have been with the club for 7 years, and for 4 of those years as an officer. I had the comfort of knowing that there are those in the world who enjoy motorcycles, and the friendship that goes with spending time with others with similar goals and interests. I think I've done the right thing for me, and will be able to devote my riding time to just me and my beloved wife Looie.

Beth and I will be heading to Savannah the first week of September, spending a few day s in the area. What sites are a must see? What roads are a must ride? We plan on spending some time there, then working our way up the coast to meet up with the Chipcoteague Island tour on Sept. 10th. Thanks gunk:happy34:

I have an 83 Venture std on which the rear shock has died, the bike has over 100k on it, & cosmetically not in the best of shape (still runs great), & I'm having a REALLY hard time spending 500 bucks on a shock for a bike that probably isn't worth much more than that. In my perusing the internet, I've noticed that in a couple of parts listings, replacement shocks for this bike share the same part number as the replacement shock for an 99-06 V-Star 1100. This lead me to thinking about finding a used shock for a V-Star, as I would have a LOT more faith in a used shock for a 5 year old bike, than spending the same amount of money on a 26 year old shock (I've bought several off of eBay, all bad). In comparing the two shocks, the V-Star shock has a clevis on the bottom, whereas the Venture shock has eyes at both ends. I guess what I'm asking for in my rather long-winded way, has anybody heard of using a V-Star shock on the 1st gen Ventures, & if so what modifications did they have to do? Thanks in advance, Wynn

I was reading one of the other threads that brought up a question... Has anyone ever tried to get a color match at an automotive parts store or other vendor to match the Venture, and did the color match up well? I've got a white trailer and just can't justify spending $500 on a paint job. Has anyone painted their trailer to match their bike and have any pointers for doing so?
