I founds some tech info on another Venture site (sorry--not disloyal, just thorough). It had output specs for the stator. Mine is perfectly within spec, but the output is less than I would like. Output is between 12.4v and 13.4v (depending on load). I'm looking at a new R/R since my stator is well within spec. Suggestions?

I have access to a brake lathe. Is there a resurfacing spec to redo the calipers?

Replacing front tire and need help with torque for axle bolt and pinch bolt.are there any web sites with torque spec. For the venture. Thanks again for all your help

Anybody know off hand what the inch pounds torque spec is for the clutch cover bolts? I am wanting to say 100 inch lbs, is this correct? Thanks, ALL DONE WITH MY CLUTCH UP-GRADE! -

Chart below shows my valve clearances. 1983 venture, 36,000 miles Cold engine, setting on workbench. Should I be concerned due to rear head being tighter than front head. The #2 inboard intake is tighter than my smallest feeler of .0015" Should I change the ones that are just outside spec.? I have 3 intakes at .10mm,, spec is .11-.15mm ?? Does anyone here use the ICON MIL SPEC Mesh Vest? I just received my order and there seems to be a problem with the sizing. As I intend to wear it over my Ballistics jacket, I ordered the 4X size. Now, I realize that, like everything else today, it is manufactured in China. But this was ridiculous. I couldn't even zip the thing up wearing just a tee shirt. If this is a 4X, it must be a made for a 4X Barbie doll. Has anyone else had a problem with the 4X size? OR does the world just like to pick on me???

I have completed putting in my new steering bearings. BUT no where in the service manual does it give the torque spec. for the fork brace all our 1st gens have. Torque spec. is typically the result of female metal strength, size and thread of bolt. LOOKING at the bolt. I think 14 ft/lbs would be about right. Anyone know the spec for sure? Oh, and I do have the super brace. But I know that does not alter the OEM correct torque setting. -

So the manual says you can use a torque wrench to torque it to spec. Well I tried it and there isn't enough room between the oil filter and the plate you bolt the rectifier too (even though the picture in the manual shows differently). If the plate was moved maybe 2-3" to the left, it would line up. How do you tighten your oil filter? Do you worry about torquing it to spec? I just used one of those rubber strap things and once the oil filter wouldn't move anymore I stopped trying to tighten it. I didn't want to dent it in any way.

I signed up over on yamaha-motor.com in the "My Star" section. When I put my 99 under the my vehicle section it came up with some interesting documents. One of them what the attached Service Spec. pdf. file. I thought it had some interesting information in it so I thought I'd post it. I think it will be a handy guide for some torquing specs without having to page through the manual. It also has the plug number, some fluid type and capacity info etc. It covers the RSV and the RSTD.
