My brother sent me a link to this source of carb diaphragms for his xs650. http://jbmindustries.com/Dimensions.html Does anyone know these folks? $20 a piece for new ones would be great. I see Venture listed as M-73. Does anyone know the carb measurements that would be needed to fit my 89?

I'm wiring up my heated vest and I am installing a hi low off switch. Anyone know what type of switch I should get? Spdt or dpdt? I would prefer one that I only need to wire in a single power source so it should have a built in resistor if there is such a thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The hollow bolt in my passing light is broken. It's the one that screws into the turn signal from the passing light bucket. Had to do a roadside temporary repair while on a trip. Have searched, but have not found a source for these. Dealer is no help. Does anyone know a source or part number?

I have to raise the price of the BuddyRich cable to 50 dollars. I have enough parts to do another 20 cables then after that it questionable if I will be able to continue . I use a specific transformer in the circuit and about six months ago radio shack stopped carrying it. That transformer is why you can talk at 80mph and the other person can't even tell your on a bike .So if you have been sitting on the fence about getting one of these you may want to go ahead and get one. It maybe up to three weeks after you order before I can get it out to you if I get a bunch of orders. If I can find a new source for my parts I may continue to make them. If so I'll update this post.. Thanks everyone. I really never made a dime off them but it was fun having something that only VR.org could offer to its members. ( I think that's the only reason Don let me hang around so long)

Sorry to be a newbie PIA. I searched on rubber grommets and got a cazillion hits. After wading through several I just decided to post the question directly: What is a good source for the rubber grommets that the side panel posts snap into? There is only one on my new 87. Thanks Dean

I have a 98 Royal Star that I have almost completely turned into a tour deluxe. The last thing on my list are saddle bags, as I have all of the brackets and exhaust installed. The problem I am having is finding factory bags without spending a fortune! Is there somewhere besides eBay that I can source them? Also, I use to have a road king classic and I really kind of Liked those bags. Believe it or not, I can buy a pair of those for half the Yamaha factory bags. Has anyone done this, and if so is there a write up and pictures?

My friend's desire to ride sometimes outweighs his common sense. We always argue over who has the best weather source. My weather man predicted this. His called for no precip. At least he made it home safely. http://www.raymondstacy.com/davebike.jpg

At last I took the plunge and followed the good advice offered here and replaced the diodes in the TCI unit. All I can say is that its is worth doing and easier then I thought. The bike now definitely runs better and as you will see from the photos I think I did this just in time!!! First I got ready for a long and tedious amount of work! Coffee!!!! Then I went and took skydoc's advice and soldered everything I could solder including the CMU. The rest of the images show the damaged diodes and the work I did. For anyone wondering what failing diodes look like I think I may have found the proof!! When I touched then, they just fell apart. I hope this encourages anyone thinking about this to do it. All you need is a soldering iron with a fine point and the diodes sold at The Source (Radio Shack) Item # 2761653. This is an assortment of 25 diodes and there are 10 diodes in there that will replace the old ones. (1N4001). They fit easily into the existing holes left by the old diodes. I will be looking for another one to fix and have as a spare for sure.

Throttle cable rebuild help
dingy posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am looking for a source of a tool/kit to be able to change out the ends on a 1st gen throttle cable. I need to be able to reattach the small round lead barrel on the end of the twisted cable. I have a local source for the cable, dirt cheap, but not at the right lengths or end styles. I need to do some tweaking to at least the carb end pull cable. It would also help if I could modify the choke & vboost cables. I have found a place online, but they are in England. Not out of the question, but a domestic source would be nice. http://www.venhill.co.uk/Cable_kits_and_components/UNIVERSAL_CABLE_KITS/VWK003_WORKSHOP_THROTTLE_CABLE_REPAIR_KIT.html It seems like there should be a crimping style tool to attach the ends, but haven't found one. Ok front forks have been slid up an inch and looks like I just got lowering links and the caliper bracket handled. So the other piece to the puzzle is a shortened side stand. When I did this to my Vmax I had access to a welder and did it myself. No access this time and bike jack wont fit Venture. So I was hoping to buy one, anyone providing this service? Thanks Frank Edit: Looks like some Royal Star bikes had a shorter stand. 2006-? a source for one of these would work too if anyone can confirm. Ebay was a bust.

After not being able to find my Canadian source for Plastex, a little old man told me they went out of business. Does anyone else know if there is another distributor IN CANADA, that ships to online customers?

I have noticed that when I stop at a light or a traffic jam, there is a tremendous amount of heat coming at my legs and drifting up. When I got back to the garage I left it running and looked around for the source. It seems that most of the heat comes from the 1.5 inches of exposed exhaust pipe from the back two cylinders. Does any one make a shield for this space? Rich

A huge thanks to Saltydog for converting this manual to a .pdf file and making it available for all our VentureRider members. He says it is a good resource for members needing troubleshooting and operating instructions for the Yamaha CB radio. It is a good source for all the part numbers. You can right click on the link and then "save as" to download it to your computer. [/url]http://www.venturerider.org/cbinstall/venturecb.pdf

OK, my wife isn't too fond of the passenger pegs on my 84 VR and she'd like to have some passenger floorboards instead. Trouble is, there isn't a whole lot of them on Ebay at the moment. Is there another source for these other than Ebay?
